Kogan 34" WQHD Curved 21:9 Ultrawide 144hz Freesync HDR Gaming Monitor 3440x1440 $519 + $16.99 Delivery/Free with First @ Kogan

110

Just arrived today, set it up and am testing now. I've gone through a fair few monitors over the last few years, but wanted to try a budget ultrawide again. Thought this was a decent price for the specs (144Hz). Seems like a white label rebadge from the Viotek GNV34DBE: https://viotek.com/gnv34dbe-34-uwqhd-curved-gaming-monitor-1…

Manual: https://assets.kogan.com/files/usermanuals/KAMN34FXQULA_user…

  • 144Hz on DP, 100Hz on HDMI (2xDP, 2xHDMI), headphone jack
  • No USB dock
  • Inbuilt power adapter (no brick)
  • 1500R curve
  • HDR400
  • (7kg) (lighter than my old X34 from 2016)
  • Not even gonna try the stand - pretty much assumed you will mount this thing on an arm (comes with 4 screw extensions which is good)
  • Samsung VA panel with some pretty gnarly ghosting, but not a deal breaker for me since I don't play competitively
  • Lucky so far with the dead pixel lottery

This is the same as the XIaomi 34 inch monitor that's availible from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/600221
Comes out to $511 delivered which is slighly cheaper than this

    • *same panel / equivalent monitor, not same monitor.

  • $16.99 Delivery without Kogan First

—use a new email and try 14 days for free??

    (Samsung?) VA panel

—yes, only samsung makes these 1500R 34 inch panels

    Surprisingly light which is nice

    —you sure?

Generally I would not go for this one because Xiaomi is offering similar product (same panel, not sure about its backlit) at 499 (regular price here), with a much better build quality you can feel (Only second to Alienware monitors in terms of quality)

      Apparently it is 7kg.

I did see the Banggood Xiaomi deal, but last I checked it had gone up to $561.88 AUD - annoying when Kmart had it for $450. Happy with this one so far :)

Not a good deal. Get the xiaomi.

  • Reviews say ghosting is really noticeable for these panels

  • Not even gonna try the stand - pretty much assumed you will mount this thing on an arm (comes with 4 screw extensions which is good)

Are you sure this thing supports other mounting options? I have this model (unless they updated the model without updating the looks) and it doesn't support VESA mount. It says it supports VESA 75x75 but good luck finding any mounts that made only for 75x75 configuration with no holes for 100x100.

You are stuck with the stand that's included. I contacted Kogan to recommend a mounting arm that's supported and they said they don't have any for this model. For anyone that wants to mount the monitor I recommend getting something else that supports VESA mount.

I have this monitor on a North Bayou arm, no problems. It comes with spacers.

So yes, I am sure! :)

Same, I mounted it on this arm https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08DKBWS18
The screw extension (spacers) extend out about an inch though, so it looks a bit unusual that there's a gap between the arm and the back of the monitor - looks stable enough though.

        • I've got this exact mount for another one of my ultra wide monitors and it's great.

I didn't get any spacers / extension with my monitor for mounting.

  • Not sure why you're not keen on the updated model: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-34-wqhd-curved-219-ultraw…

      • Weirdly, this gaming model has 7ms GTG (with OD), whereas the Viotek has 5 GTG
      • This is 300 nits vs 400 nits
      • Minus 1x HDMI port but has 1x USB
      • More pronounced 1000R curve
      • This one has a better 100x100 stand, and RGB I see however +
    • Wait. Whats the difference in the 2 models?

      • +1

The 1000R curve model is a newer panel, but it's unclear what the difference in the technical performance is. I would say it's probably in the ballpark of how the Samsung G5 performs, which is not great against the G7 and G9, but much better than the panel in this deal.

Not sure why you couldn't look at the nested comment from me about exactly this, but there you go.
