    My expectation is that the 4th gen should sound better for occasional music listening (additional tweeter and hardware upgrades) but it’d be good if someone from the community who has heard both could weigh in

    They also look a lot better in my opinion, not a fan of the dome.

  I have a gen 1 and a Gen 4. Gen 4 lowest volume is too loud. Both really do the same thing. Gen 4 dome shape is not for everyone but I still like my gen 1. I also have the Echo Plus - Home hub and the Echo show second gen. I think old school gen 1 is the winner for me
