You'll need access to a .edu.au address (your kid's), or contact them to "verify" (send photo of your kid? :-) I'm sure they don't make it hard.) You can use your regular email address after that.

This well-spec'ed C340 at $746 looks good for school, if you like a big screen 2-in-1 with pen.
Half price! ($1599 on the regular Lenovo store, if you believe that :-) )
Definitely not an ultralight though.
(not to be confused with the similar-priced C340 at Officeworks with inferior cpu, screen, and no pen)

Fingerprint reader, 8GB (4 soldered + 4GB DIMM), 256GB NVMe, i3, good battery life,

    trash, get the s540

The S540 is a great deal, but a different product. It does not have a touchscreen, which many schools require.
      Got any more useful suggestions?

This one fits my schools needs. I was researching for a friend, and this seemed to fit. (A bit big for my personal taste :-)

      • battery life wont be good and also big & heavy to carry.

  • Can some one point out I have got a kid who is in year one in the primary school ..is it posisble to get a student account ? Or any work around ?

    • " If you don't have one, just call us on 13LENOVO / 13 536686 Option 2 and our friendly sales team will help you."

But you must now somebody with a .edu address, or a kid, who can click "verify" for you when they get the email.

  • I did tried chatting to them and the guy who was on chat insisted on getting a student email edu account and said he can’t help unless I have one ..which was no help

    • Talk to the school teachers.

Wouldn't recommend a big laptop for school. Already back-breaking with all the books they carry. And the screen seems dim? Please check in store if possible before committing.

    • Most text book have online/pdf versions, my kids never bought around those heavy text books, just shit tones of exercise book or blinders. First few years brought the legit licensees and download PDF but after grade 8 they seem to get copy from their teachers and students. So I haven't really paid for text book since, same with my University one.

School locker is also a thing, if require physical copy. Pretty cheap per year to rent those at least for my. Well, this public high school unsure if that applies to your child.

Where? Inspiron 14 5406 looks good, but $1138 with pen. Worth the extra $400?

    How about this one?

  • 15.6" convertible laptops with FHD screen - how is the battery life on this thing?

Honestly don't know why they make a 15.6" 2-in-1, it's too awkward to use fully - better to go to around 13-14".
