  • I'm about to move to a nearby house and will bring my Telstra cable with me. Paying 100 for 200GB and no phone. Can anyone think if a way I might be able to get in on this?

    • I believe if you're moving it's fine as long as you remain a customer with them

      • I won't have ang trouble transferring my cable plan, bug what I'd like to do is get in in this deal rather than continuing to pay $100 a month without a phone.

  • signed up for this deal the other day. The call-centre person had no clue what it was and we had to give her the web address link, then she tried to make us pay for a new modem (which it says is included) but eventually everything worked out. It's a very good deal and works out cheaper than what we were paying Bigpond before for just 50GB of data

  • +1

Using this in Sydney, connecting at over 100mb/s. No complaints so far. Just be aware of the quirks of dealing with Big T!

  • i dont think extensions are clasified as new deals…I think this is still a dupe …

also to get the 110+70 for porting you're probably going to need to talk to someone from melbourne, as the off shore team dont know anything about it, just keep calling back to you get someone who knows.

  • Argghhh, I'm paying $79.95 for 50GB, still with over a year left on my contract :(

  • hmmm the no call value included kills it for me. Im paying same price (around 80) at optus for $50 cable internet (50/70gb plan) + $30 phone (with $30 call value included).

Would be good to get faster internet i guess..

    • If you want to stay with optus, you might consider recontracting for 24 months and save $15. (https://www.optus.com.au/shop/Bundles/Bundles/Optus-Broadban…)
Or if you only want to recontract for 12 months only, as 24months does seem long, you can get an 10% off your internet, save $5. May not seem much but that 120 soft serve cones over a year.

      • thank rayboy - have been toying over recontracting but havent in case I move or need to downgrade the plan…

        • see my comments below about VOIP… now that they charge per minute as well…

might put another post up in regards to cheap VOIP adaptors.

for 64 bux (14 bux cheaper) you do get a bit less though.
I had to pay additional for caller ID which is included with this bundle.
no extra to pay by credit card, (extra with Optus)
          more bandwidth
premium speeds (20 bux extra on Optus!!!!!)

so value for money Telstra is better… however, Optus is defiantly cheaper.

so if your never going over the 64 bux - (ie no premium speed pack, caller id) then yeah good…as it does have a few calls included…. though for my money ill take VOIP and pay a little more for much more service.

      • -1

I would never contract with Optus as their cable performance is woeful, it was for me and currently is for many Optus customers. Locking yourself into 24 months or even 12 of hell with Optus may come back to bite you hard.

    • I am in the process of dropping Optus.

Going to Exetel [which is optus wholesale].
They wholesale a version of Optus fusion but with their ADSL2.

For $49 [12 month contract] you get:
      Unlimited ADSL 2
Unlimited Local and National Calls [not 1300]
Unlimited calls to Mobiles connected to the Optus network.

Not bad for under $50 [and with PSTN for phone].
      Drawbacks [isn't there always]
      - you need an ABN [though you can pay from a personal bank account]
      - not cable

The 9000 minutes personal version is still pretty good though.

    • Doesn't Optus have a bundle that has 500 gig and unlimited phone for $109

I work for Telstra and here are a couple of things:

    1) For those currently in contract you should give Telstra a call. If you're eligible for any new offers (like 49.95 for 50gb with internet as long as you have any form of line rental) then you can recontract into that without any exit charges for swapping from the old plan.
    2) This bundle is for "new" customers. To the person that is moving, if you were out of contract and cancelled your other services and then signed up to where you are moving with a new homeline and internet then technically you would still be new and should be eligible for this. Just moving your services as is doesn't qualify as new (and even doing it the first way is still a bit on the cheeky side)
    3) The $110 credit offered has officially finished as of 2 months ago. We no longer are able to provide or offer $110 welcome credit for broadband under business rules. The $70 welcome credit can still be offered when someone takes up a new landline connection in limited circumstances. However, it is not within business rules to offer this credit for a new connection to the Homeline Budget category (and that is the line involved in this offer). Offshore or not, you would be lucky to find anyone that could offer the $110 or $70 credit without breaking business rules. P.S. if you want to take up this offer I recommend calling the bundle number on the website (1800 007 404) between 7am and 7pm as this should go directly to a local call centre in Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney.

This is still a fantastic offer. 100mbs of Cable 3.0 for $78 including line rental (even though you have to pay for all your calls). It should be noted there are no off or on peak rates, and also that the installation and modem is included in that price. Telstra also have very lenient contracts… as long as you keep your landline for 3 months the maximum exit fee can only be $15 x amounts of months left (i.e. maximum of $360 for the broadband component). This is one of those deals that makes me proud to be part of Telstra. The modems that come with this are Netcomm (or could be Netgear my memory evades me). There are also some Cisco that are still occassionally being delivered, although they are now discontinued so you would be lucky to get one. Awesome product, super competative price, and a great modem. Good luck to all those in 3.0 areas.. I have to stick with my ADSL2 :(

    • I must have gotten lucky then with the welcome credit, and to get both of them. - less than one month ago now.

Oh, also can you pass onto the tech team: "we hate how you cripple your modems and disable features!!! also get all the bloadware off the phones we buy!" that said i do like the usage meter, keep that on!
its a netgear. with wifi and gigabit ports.

re paying for your calls, i have a VOIP modem on its way, signing up for a 5 dollar VOIP provider, 100 untimed free national calls a month, 15 cent mobile calls. - don’t get too proud of Telstra just yet! there PSTN call price is out of this world! the price on the broadband is great because of the perceived quality of their network and the higher speed HFC, TPG has unlimited data for 60 bux a month bundled with the home line…(I choose telstra as we are a decent distance from the network)

i tried calling the premium support and no one gave me a call back as promised! (all i wanted to know was if cable modems had a static IP address so i could host my own personal site - which your allowed to biased on the terms and conditions. couldn’t get a straight answer out of anyone, 1 person said No, it’s only ADSL, one person said Yes cable has them by default. – shouldn’t need to use one of my premium support calls for that should I?)

That said, happy with the service so far, and would recommend them if anyone asked.

      • Hello wisc,

I currently have the 100mbit cable in Melbourne, and I don't get a static IP… Instead, I just use dyndns.org, and the cable modem updates my dyndns.org details (with the new IP) automatically.

        I hope that helps :)

      • Well done of getting the welcome credit. Like I said it's against business rules to do so doesn't meanj it is impossible to get. Particurlarly now you would be very fortunate to find anyone that could offer it.

Static IP is available but I believe it is $10 extra, you should call BP Activations about this (13 7664 - say activations). Telstra Plus should have told you the same and you can actually get them on 13 PLUS (I'm too hungover to work out what that is inj numbers)

A lot of people go TPG unlimited. Firstly, it's cable not ADSL so it is already far superior. Secondly, what does unlimited matter if you only use <200gb anyway. Why pay $18 less for a far inferior product and technology. I would pay $50 extra if I had the option of cable!

I must admit Telstra isn't perfect and still rough around the edges in many catergories. But I am happy to hear the 3.0 service is as good what we're told it is :)

    • "100mbs of Cable 3.0 for $78 including line rental (even though you have to pay for all your calls). It should be noted there are no off or on peak rates, and also that the installation and MODEM is included in that price."

i thought we had to pay extra for a new modem for 100mbs?

  • +1

Bundle? Hmm, it were Telstra bundled customers that were the subject of the privacy breach last week.

  • I signed up for an ultimate 200gb for 99.95 with line rental for 24 months late last nite? Why did they not tell me about this? I haven't signed anything can I change this asap?

    • +1

you have a 10 day cool off period with telstra. so can it and resign.

      • Thanks, just called them and they said this offer is not available in my area - seems odd as cable 3.0(?) is available and my other plan was fine, and the website check said it may be…..but the phone operator had no idea of this, I had to read him the url. And finally he said I can't get it, hoping there's still a way as paying $20 extra a month for two years for no reason adds up.

        • just ring up again and talk to someone else, or use the number that was kindly listed by kristijan08 1800 007 404

or call the number on the site direct?

i find depending on who i talk to at telstra depends on the deal i get, if i dont like the way its going, i say ok thanks, never mind, ring back, and usually get what i want. (typically as its been offered to me before!) or on a site like this, sounds like the telstra rep is trying to rip you off!

  • +1

I got this deal, works like a charm. I spoke to an online rep who then called me to finalise the deal. $78 per month for 200GB including home phone rental (which I don't use anyway) is what got me to move over from Optus, so glad I did as Optus is super crap for cable with lag and slow downloads compared to bigpond.

    • did you get the welcome credit for switching to optus? (i got mine on the 23rd of Nov)

  • +1

I love this price, but UPLOAD COUNTED…200GB will not be enough, if you download and upload..

    • yeah unfortunatly thats the way of the world these days, most plans include uploads…

      • But many do not. Last month I uploaded 160 GB so this plan would have been useless.

        • So stop uploading? or reduce upload speed?

  • wisc is there by any chance you know how much it cost per month once you removed the phone from this bundle? Thanks in advance.

    • Then it's not a bundle any more, and not discounted either. You'd be up for their standard price of $79.95 (at best).

  • +1

For those on an existing contract

I am about half way through my existing $88 100Gb cable contract.
    I called 1800 330 192, spoke to a rep - and I am now re-contracted on to the $78 200Gb cable plan.

    Thanks for posting, rayboy2006!

    • Thanks, it worked for me also. They are offering me $10 credit as a loyalty bonus.

  • Atm we're paying $109/Month for 100GB + HomeLine reach ( http://go.bigpond.com/bundles/?ref=Net-Head-Int-Bundles )

Is there anyway i can get 200GB + Homeline reach for the same price or cheaper?

    • yeah i think your allowed change of plan with a contract restart, as long as the data limit is higher its counted as an upgrade? (from memory )note the contract restart.(see comment above)

  • Good deal.

Good to see Bigpond still being competitive - I'm still loving being on ADSL2+ Bigpond Naked 200GB for $60.

  • +1

I am with TPG; for $69.99 you get unlimited ADSL2+, ulimited calls to local and national landlines, free wifi modem, and 100 voip international minutes. Synchronising around 12MBPS at 2k from the exchange. Line rental included. Pretty happy with it.

    • I'm happier with 100mbps

    • special numbers free too or excluded?
      ie. 13xxx

  • How does an existing customer that signed up 2 months ago get this guys??
    it's BS otherwise

  • Don't like the modem and the horrible Telstra service… but gone from 1.5M Speedtest to 30-50M speedtest. I am a happy man ^_^

  • Seems a gargantuan waste of funds as it is not even half one terabyte, nor 100 Mbps for that matter, in Sydney.

Several years ago I subscribed to "10 gbytes x 24 months" and not once was that limit improved, a cable fault required two months to resolve and I had to demote myself to stationary wireless- WiMAX/Unwired at the time.

I wouldn't help Telstra cost save; not without a better deal.

  • Couple more things - like the previous offer it isn't available in ALL areas of Cable/Cable 3.0 (only some). Additionally to those asking if it is $10 extra you would be correct if you're doing it standalone and not in one of the 5 bundle options on the Telstra website. The standalone plans on the bigpond website all have a $10 surcharge for Cable 3.0. Hope that clarifies some questions

  • I'm confused, the linked PDF says $88/month (http://bit.ly/v0n7zg), as does the bundling matrix (http://bit.ly/vAEBGV)?

    • wrong link, you need to like at this specific deal, sometimes you even need to provide the telstra consultant with the actual link!

  • +1

I was on the $88/month 100GB bundle in the middle of a contract and had to provide the link above (http://www.telstra.com.au/actually) because they didn't anything about it. I now have it but was re-contracted for 24months (as expected).
Thanks OP, saved me $10/month and double the data.

  • "didn't [?] anything"*^

Didn't 'Know' about the "$10 off", OR just didn't 'Do' the required approval (in knowledge, on auto).. we'll never know the detail, for sure.

Stellar customer support in any case with these people, from organisation T. (Great to know)
