I got the same shaver (US$5 cheaper as you had mentioned) from Amazon.com during their Black Friday Sale. Ordered it on Friday night (hence Black Friday) and received it the next Monday! Super happy with the shaver. Definitely worth my $60!!

  • Yeh I bought 2, 2 weeks ago for $61 each delivered. Arrived within 7-8 days, pretty great service.

I was thinking about posting the deal, but figured at the time that the only difference between this and Neils post was because of the fluctuating dollar, so this is technically a dupe?

  • Price seems to be changing on a daily basis, http://camelcamelcamel.com/Philips-1150x-40-SensoTouch-Elect… $5 cheaper last week

I wonder how Amazon decides price increases/decreases.

    • The $30 Off voucher doesn't come up all the time. I missed out on Neil's post originally and had been monitoring Amazon.com on this shaver since then. I wasn't until the Black Friday Sales that the $30 coupon appears again. I am voting positive as this deal might not be a regular thing and people should jump on it if they know they will need to replace their shaver soon. $60 is cheaper than replacing the blades on some shavers!

  • Bought one of these as a gift a few months ago when it was $60. What a bargain. To give you an idea of what you'd pay here, Big W sells it for $198. Damn!!

Lol, u used that exact same joke in the previous thread too

Does this have a pop up trimmer? Anyone have any good cheap recommendations which do?

    Cheers

  • +1

Comes with a trimmer that replaces the shaving head.

    • Where does it say it comes with the attachment trimmer head?

      According to the product description-

      What's in the Box
SensoTouch 1150X/40 razor, charging stand, protective cap, power cord, and cleaning brush.

Sounds like its an optional add on?

      Can anyone please confirm? :)
      cheers

      • confimed.

        • Cheers mate. Ordered :)

Does anyone know if the Aussie dollar is going up or down?

Got one last deal. They are pretty good when you just want a quick and rough shave but the end result isn't that great. It never does a close shave and theres usually a few hairs that are hard to get. Good on weekends or holidays when you don't care about what you look like.

    • Thanks for this - Obviously not suited for that Hot date!

  • Well i am staying away from Philips Norelco i purchase one of these about 5 months ago just before the $30 coupon was published so i paid around $200 for the more expensive model.

only to find it die on me a few days ago. After googling the web i have found many users online suffering from the same issue.

Wont be buying another one these for it to die again no matter how cheap it is.

    • What exactly went wrong with it? Also, aren't people put off by the need to have an adapter for the power plug? The cheap adapters are in my opinion a fire hazard and even the better ones are an inconvenience at least.

      • Not really an inconvenience as the price difference more than makes up for it. It's a simple 2 prong to 3 prong metal adaptor, no stepping down transformer or other circuitry. If you wanted to, I suppose you could get an Australian approved one.

As more and more bargains come from Amazon and other overseas sellers, having converter plugs is going to be part of every Ozbargainers toolkit. Personally, I have a US shaver, iPad and a N97 mini phone so always have a few adapters laying around.

      • Just wouldn't turn on.. used it 2 days before and was fully charge.. so i tried to fix it myself as amazon and Philips were no help at all.

Then i found out it was not the battery which i purchase a OEM version online for $15 which i had to solder in to replace the old one.

Have found many users having the same problems within the same range as mine died all reports are around 4 to 7 months life for the units

Use $US and then use your 28 Degrees Master card for even better rates ;)

    • $67.55 all up :)

  • Got one too, shame that the rebate doesnt apply in OZ

    Any good for the balls?

    • Why don't you order a shaver, give it a try, and report back?

With luck, all your balls should stay intact and hairless.

      • +2

I was hoping some other idiot would try first…..

        • just get a trimmer will do the trick

    • it is awesome. go get one.

    • according to specs on amazon, might suit certain people

"Smooth flat surface with rounded edges to provide an extra-close shave with less irritation"

  • Just ordered for $66.84USD which means less than $65AUD delivered (assuming we are still above parity?…cool

Make sure you always charge in the local currency or they will rip you off on the AUD conversion.

That is assuming you use a CC/Debit card with no currency conversion fees.

  • i just bought one without thinking too much about it - do we get an AUS power adaptor with it ?

    • No, read the above posts. You need to buy one.

  • So…is it a good shaver? Seems to get mixed reviews

  • Order Total: AUD 69.93
Good deal even with a few dollars +/- fluctuation

  • Yep, bought one.. Thanks.. $69AUD shipped with coupon!

  • So it seems if you buy 2 you only get the $30 off once?

Has anyone been able to buy 2 without checking out twice and paying shipping twice?

    • +1

if it didn't work for you I don't think it'll work for others. Its not like Amazon code their site just to affect your individual purchases.

  • You just need a generic plug yeah? I.e. it supports au voltage?

Anyone link to the type of plug?

Edit: ok just read above its just a cheap travel plug that you need. Cool

  • In the previous deal the coupon also applied to the higher end models so if you are interested make sure you check them out too.

  • With amazon is it best to buy in AU or US dollars? Does the bank normally charge extra to pay in US dollars, like some kind of conversion fee?

    • amazon exchange rate not to bad but if you use a AU cc most of them charge around 2.5% for mastercard and about 3+% for amex.

      • Ok thanks. Just cancelled my order and about to reorder now in AU. I believe they charge the card when they ship the item?

      • If you have a 28 degrees MasterCard use that because the amazon rate is not that good. If you have a card that charges lots of fees then use the amazon rate,

  • Fantastic Just ordered one :)

  • Just ordered one, got a new job that will not go well with my normal 3 day stubble, hopefully this will save me from using a proper razor when I'm half asleep in the mornings.

  • Does anyone know if this come with travel case/pouch?

    • Yes, as far as I know, this comes with a Philips branded pouch for the main shaver unit!

  • Ordered 1 thanks! :D

        Shipping Method: Expedited International Shipping

    • That's awesome. Mine is the 22nd. This is the first time I've bought from Amazon - I love their tracking service it's really up to date / comprehensive. I had one click shipping turned on and I bought a 50 cent power adapter to go with it. Luckily I read through the confirmation email a few hours later because I had nothing else to do, that order came to $40.50 (40 being shipping!) and I cancelled it before it went out. Pretty sure I have an adapter somewhere around the house

tl;dr amazon is pretty sweet. good deal

      • Wow that was close dude lol. You can get them on ebay for $1.50 shipped i believe, i would get one but i'm sure i have a couple around here somewhere… just gotta find em!

    Shipping Method: Expedited International Shipping.

Ordered Thursday 15/12/11, and it arrived at my place Monday 19/12/11.

Dam good service, and for around $67 AU, i can't complain.

  • Got mine today , been charging, about to have a shave… one happy customer :D

    • Did you pay extra for quick shipping or was that normal?

      • This was the normal default shipping method.

        • Holy crap, just checked my tracking and its in NSW Outlying areas. Damn they're quick!

        • Yep normal shipping method, VERY quick. Just used the shaver and i'm not really impressed, it leaves hair behind, shave looks patchy, takes ages and pulls hairs out a bit sometimes… now i can't remember the last time i used an electric shaver and it would only have been a couple of times back when i was a teen… I've always just used a razor to shave so maybe i just need to be educated? what am i doing wrong lol?

        • +1

Been using electric shavers since I was a wee boy. Manual razor shaves tend to be better but electric shaves are pretty good and a lot quicker.

With lift and cut shavers, you tend to want to keep the shaver against your face the whole time. Pulling in and out or dabbing is not recommended. After not shaving for a couple of days where the hair is longer, I use the trimmer first and then the normal shave as it will rip your hair. It will take time to adjust but well worth it and a lot cheaper in the long run. Tip for manual or electric shaving. Shave visually initially but for the best result use touch to find the rogue hairs. It's sometime best not to look at the mirror but instead use your hand to feel for unshaved areas.

    • That's awesome. Mine is in Brissy (I'm on the GC). Is shipping from Amazon always this fast?

      • It came today. 22nd was the expected date. I'll definitely be buying from amazon again. For this price with extremely fast (4 days) and free shipping from the states this was a great bargain thanks OP

  • I ordered last night as the price reduced by $5 but upon waking this morning still not shipped with an ETA of 1-2 months!!!!!!

    Sad :-(

  • I ordered on 15th and I got this product on 19th. its very good.

  • Mine was sitting at home for me when I got home. Just charging now, loving the charging cradle, but note it does not come with a carry case (someone asked before). Will have a shave tonight and report back.

  • Got this today. As i was unboxing it, it fell on the floor now i cant seem to find the actual shaver "cap" which actually trims the hairs. This bit your supposed to wash after every shave.

Stupid question but was this "tip" in the clear plastic box?

    • I assume you mean the trimmer attachment, the trimmer attachment was wrapped in plastic in the cardboard padded box besides the charging cable… as for the shaver head, it was already attached to the shaver motor unit in the hard plastic box

  • I got it today, ordered last week (dec 16).

Took it for a test run, it is really smooth without getting yanked or pulled, contours to your jaw and shaves every hair, assuming you give it a bit of a circular motion

The trimmer is also good, doesn't catch or yank on your long beard hairs.
Nice clean shave, haven't tested with shaving foam, as it is capable of it (dry/wet)…

The cleaning is a breeze, run both trimmer and shaver head through some warm water and you're done, no more brushing out hairs.

I do believe it is splashproof while cleaning in the basin, but I don't think it would be wise to use it constantly in water such as in the shower, but not 100% on that.

My review is based against an old remington 7 series, so this shaver, I believe is a nice upgrade. No regrets on my purchase…

Thanks OP for spreading the bargain!

    • Why does it say to clean under HOT water? I'm assuming that would only be useful if you have used shaving cream?

  • Got mine yesterday too… Was sitting at front door and I only checked it today morning … Should stop using the garage entrance ;)

  • Being able to rinse under water is a godsend…my old shaver was so messy when it came to cleaning with that little stupid brush. Also I believe this has a travel lock? My old Philips shaver would always pop open when in transit resulting in a case full of stubble when I opened it!!

Edit. Amazon sourced more stock with my new ETA Dec 28 :-)

  • Got mine yesterday, good close shave.. found it missed a few hairs here and there.

First tried it dry, kinda made my face all red. Tried it wet this morning and much much better.
