Amazon offers the Philips Norelco Men's 1150x SensoTouch Electric Razor for $49.99 USD via the directions below. That's the lowest total price we (dealnews.com) could find by $30. This wet/dry shaver features GyroFlex 2D technology, precision trimmer, quick charge, 40 minutes of run time, and more. To get this deal:

  1. View the Philips Norelco Men's 1150x SensoTouch Electric Razor for $79.99
  2. clip the $30 off coupon below the price (you must be logged in)
  3. Add to your cart and proceed to checkout for a total price of $49.99

Just tested this out and they ship this to Australia for $61.47 USD ($58.50 AUD) total. This shaver is auto switchable between 120v and 240v which means it will work in Australia (and other countries) with a conversion plug that can be picked up at any $2 store. This shaver comes with a 2 year warranty. EDIT: I've spoken to Philips and it is a US warranty which will require shipping to US if there are problems.

This model doesn't seem to be sold in Australia but a similar model, 1160, goes for $259 at The Shaver Shop. A Google Shopping search finds the cheapest 1150 available to Australia to be $120

Looks like a good shaver. 4 stars on 147 reviews from Amazon.

Hat tip and description via [Dealnews]

EDIT: Fixed link. Should work correctly now.

EDIT:

Price has gone up by $10, now $72.47 USD ($69.86 AUD) delivered.

Norelco is the North American equivalent of Philishave products here. I've bought replacement shaving heads from Amazon before. Even with air mail the price is about 40% off the local retailers. Bargain.

  • +2

Thanks. I think i might buy this as an early xmas present to me from my family.

All: The $30 off coupon also applies to the other products in the range, such as the 1250/40 etc .

The 1250/40 came to 138.83 AUD shipped to Australia, compared to 429.95 for the equivalent model in at shavershop in australia!!!!

    • +9

$139 vs $430? Wow. Someone better tell Gerry Harvey. Adding 10% GST to the online purchase will even up that price!

      • +5

Actually the $139 was the "Amazon currency converter" price, if you use your 28 degrees mastercard you can get an even better rate which comes to about $132.

Shavershop are #1 on my list of specialty retailers who pay high rents to westfield etc while gauging australian customers on prices.

        • +4

When looking for replacement heads for my Philips shaver I did look at The Shaver Shop's web site. I wanted to buy online, but also support an Australian business. Well, the price was the same as in store (with its associated high rents, etc). I can understand why the online store doesn't want to undercut its physical shop, but they're completely missing the point of online shopping.

          Lower overheads = lower prices.

        • +7

          @Cluster:
do you know that Hoyts charges MORE if you buy tickets online?

        • Gauging is just the beginning. I recently tried to return a trimmer to the Shaver Shop after it stopped working. They refused to give a refund, offering only a replacement - this was already a replacement unit. After three visits to the store and six calls to the head office, I finally got onto someone who was aware of the Consumer and Competition Act (formerly Trade Practices Act) and got the refund. Even the possibility of personal fines from the ACCC didn't bother them.

Shame! Shame! Shame, Shavershop! I'm Derryn Hinch…

    • Is the 1250/40 twice as good as the 1150 and therefore worth the extra $$$?

      • Thanks. yeh is it worth extra $$$ to get 1250/40??? I am looking to buy a shaver.

        • If you have a lot of in grown hair or super short stubbles (afternoon), then the answer is yes. The 3D pulses basically allows the blade to 'pick up' the hair. That's about it… no other advantages I don't think.

    • +4

I was thinking of getting it but 139 was still more than what I want to pay. I just rechecked the price and the original price has dropped from USD 156 to 133USD. With the coupon discount and shipping included, it ended up been 113AUD, too good to miss, so I ordered one..

      • +1

Thanks for sharing this info. I ordered the 1250/40 before the price drop. I told Amazon via Online chat and they are refunding US$23.16 when my order ships.

        $163 now.

  • mods note: the link is a referral link

    • It was dealnews' referral link. I've removed it now.

  • Cant see the $30 off coupon below the price, even when i am logged in? (any else has the same problem) any screenshots?

    • looks like this one cannot be shipped to Australia

      • I think with the Philips shavers, it may have to do with if Australia sells that particular model. Hint: Some of the products say get it by x date with International Priority when they don't ship overseas. But if you go down to product details it should say if they send to Australia.

        7310XL

  • +1

What do people think of that jet clean contraption in the videos? Worth getting a model with that included?

    • +1

      No

    • +3

I have one with the jet clean contraption, about 2 years old (not sure if the same now) but i reacon i have used it 3 times in the 2 years. It isnt that hard to take the heads off and rinse under running water from the tap. The contraption doesnt even work when you fill it with water only expensive solution

  • Wow!
    Bargain indeed. Good find OP!

  • Wow, great deal!

  • Thanks, purchased one. Was in the market for a electric shaver, for $60 to hard to pass up.

  • +1

This is a good price, I've got the Norelco 1160 with jet cleaning (a useless thing really, should've just done what I always do!). The only thing I hate with mine is that sometimes you still have to run over the same loose hair 500 times which shouldn't happen at all

Aside from that its pretty good although manual shaving will still feel smoother

    • +1

so the jet clean is really useless? i might cancel my 1280x wit jet cleaner and jet 1290x without jet..

      • Yeah well its bloody expensive for those cleaning fluids & they barely last, you're better off just buying a couple of sets of blades for the shaver for when it gets blunt. Perhaps if the cleaning fluid was distilled water it'd be worth having it & wouldn't cost you too much additional $$$

  • can you use this for manscapeing?

    • +2

Depends on the size of your 'scape' really…

    • download 'mancraft'

  • Never used one of these fancy doohickeys before but ozbargain made me buy one.

    • +1

      ..Prepare to rash…

    • As someone who shaves about twice a week and only needs less than 1 minute to shave, I never used one either but apparently these things can make the hair grow in different directions.

  • +2

So the question remains, should I buy the 1150x for $58.50 or the 1250/40 for $138.83. Are there that many more features on the 1250/40 to justify the extra cost?

    • +2

Hmmm. 2D vs 3D.. Which 1 to get..

      • +2

Everything is better in 3D :P

    • +5

Go for the cheaper. I've used a Norelco electric rechargable shaver (maybe $100), $20 travel shaver and more recently the one listed here for $50 from Hutchoo.

They all shave your face similarly.
The more expensive ones tend to be quieter. Good for me as I listen to podcasts in the morning.
A pop up trimmer or attachment is good for shaving say sideburns or beard. Most shavers should have this.
The more expensive models may have better battery life. Then again, I have an electric socket in my bathroom so not a big deal.

As for cleaning, I don't think I've ever cleaned any of my shavers with water. I do a dry shave. There is usually a tiny brush which you can brush out the hairs from the blades.

Don't see much of a difference between the 2 models you listed.

      • Great thanks for the info!

  • +1

how come i see 79.99 ?? BTW is this waterproof so u can take in to shower ?

    cheers

    • +2

      Read the instructions provided:

      1. View the Philips Norelco Men's 1150x SensoTouch Electric Razor for $79.99
      2. clip the $30 off coupon below the price (you must be logged in)
      3. Add to your cart and proceed to checkout for a total price of $49.99

I would say it is waterproof but may need to check specs. I've had previous Norelco rechargables and I have shaved in the shower back when I lived in a non drought affected country.

      • +1

dont forget you may need to click the referral link posted above in order for the coupon to come up

  • +2

One last question for everyone, are these sorts of razors good for people who suffer from alot of ingrown hairs? I have extremely curly hair (African heritage) so, oddly enough, I'm looking for a razor that doesn't give as close a shave as a blade. Are these adjustable?

  • Thanks

  • +1

Great deal i actually purchase the 1250X/42 about 1 month ago from amazon ended up costing me $160 as i paid for express delivery with a guaranteed date which didn't happen so amazon refunded me the delivery fee. :)

Not a bad shaver and yes they are water proof beats buying the 1250X/42 from shavershop at 400+

  • +1

Ordered one! The one from shavershop is "made in Holland", wonder if this one would be the same? As I 've read that some items maybe made in different countries

  • Mine is from amazon just last month but the 1250X/42 model and it says made in netherlands same thing really :)

  • +1

look fantastic, consider to buy for my Father as a gift.

  • +1

    Great for gift

  • +1

Just ordered one. I've never ordered anything from amazon before. confirmation email is showing Delivery estimate: Sept. 16, 2011 - Oct. 6, 2011. Is it normal after paying that much shipping rate??? :/

    • +1

Even the cheapest delivery usually only takes about 2 weeks but if you looked at the Amazon listing it says "Usually ships within 2 to 4 weeks" which means its not instock now (probably because too many Ozbargain people are getting it) and they're waiting for supplies

  • Thanks - ordered. Was looking for a cheap spare shaver and at this price….

  • Just wondering how much is the Philips Norelco Men's 1150x SensoTouch in AUS? Just curious to know

      As stated in the description:

  • just got one, looks good =D

  • +1

Just bought one. Kind of regretting not getting the 1250 though, even though it is double the price…looks a lot nicer :)

  • how long do the blades last for ?

    • +1

      The video said ~2 years.

  • +1

Fantastic deal. Thanks for posting neil. Ordered one for my 15 year old son for Christmas. But my wife pointed out that my 14 year old has stubble too so he would like it too. But it seems the coupon code can only used once on your Amazon account. Short of setting up a new Amazon account, any one know how to get access to the coupon once you have used it?

  • why it says cant ship to syd ??

  • +1

You can get a free camcorder if you buy it here in Australia I guess.

  • Just bought one.. Good deal thanks neil..

  • Theres 10 One Star reviews for this item on Amazon. Reading them all, they are specific to how effective the shaver is. It seems this may not be the best choice for a shaver in my opinion

  • +1

    Here is a good aussie review of the 1250x/40 which is the entry level 3D shaver which can be had for $163;
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTwsz12LaE0&feature=related

This is currently on sale at Shaver Shop for $329 http://www.shavershop.com.au/products/electric-shavers-2/sen…

I've ordered this over the 1150…but either model are great bargains.

  • +1

Looks like they ran out of stock and have to wait for them to get more? It now says-

About once every ten years I decide to try electric razors… I'm way overdue. The last one I bought (in 1995) was a Panasonic that I could use under the shower, and it worked OK but I left the charger in France in 2008.

Not for nothin' - but with 'normal' razors now being marketed like sneakers, and blades at the prices they are now, paying $61 (the price including shipping) represents roughly 3 months' worth of blades. It's a no brainer: even if it doesn't give as clean a shave as a ProGlide blade, I can use a ProGlide fifteen times to clean up after electric shaving, but only twice for normal full shaving.

This same razor is in the latest Harvey Norman catalog for $169… yeah, Gerry, I'm payin' you $108 more than I need to, because we're both Straaaayan.

    Tell 'im 'e's DREEEAMIN'.

    • Get yer hand off it Daryl

  • Hey Neil,
Thanks for posting. Just thought about this… to be able to find a non-dvd/cd/book product that Amazon.com is willing to ship to Australia and a bargain at the same time is a great effort!

    Well Done!

  • +1

1150x is now showing a base price of $89.99 so it looks like it's gone up by $10 for some reason.

    • +1

cause amazon pretty much got 'ozbargained', amazon itself is out of stock and they are now selling it from the cheapest external seller on amazon

  • +3

Somewhere deep inside Amazon some person is scratching their head while looking at the daily sales report wondering why the hell a cheap Norelco shaver has sold out and shrunk worldwide supply with all sales coming from AUSTRALIA!

    One word…OzBargain!

    • +1

haha, just there are actually much more bargain hunters in the States

    • Actually, Drugstore.com (not avail to Aus) is now selling it $10 cheaper than Amazon ($42 shipped) with free shipping. Something must be happening with these shaver models. http://dealnews.com/Philips-Norelco-Mens-1150-x-Senso-Touch-…

      • i'll wait for it come down to $15 :D

      • +1

wow, that is cheap, pity Drugshop does not ship to Australia

  • +1

does it just went up to 89.99? so after applying the coupon it comes to 71.47usd?…

    *** edited
bought it even though it went up by 10$… haha been looking for decent shaver…

    • +1

It has gone up to $89.99, I bought one too as it still looks like a decent shaver for the price. Target.com (US Target) are doing it for $99.99 so $70 delivered to AU is a great price. $42 delivered would be even better, as can be had from Drugstore.com, but sadly they don't delivered to AU.

  • .

  • anyone's order ($61.47 USD one) get dispatched yet? or order confirmed?
