I have version 1 that is still going well. P.S. It can also be used to carry Mavic Pro/Platinum Fly More Combo.

    • I have a lowepro backpack I’ve been using for ten years without a single hiccup, recently switched from a DSLR to a mirrorless setup, so I’m hoping the sling has the same kind of longevity without being as big as the backpack.

      • Yes and more convenient to quickly grab your camera when travelling because it is on the side. I carry a full-frame camera. It has room to take a spare zoom lens (obviously not anything over 105mm), plus my phone, action cam and passport as well.

    • I'm also using the first generation from 2013 I think. It's been my everyday sling since then and has held up really well.

I'd get this newer one if I could fit a Surface Pro in it. That's the one thing that has made me eye other slings.

EDIT: Bought. Just saw that this newer one looks a little deeper than the first generation and it also has a tablet sleeve. Also with Prime if the Surface doesn't fit I can just return for an easy refund.

        Check out this review
I know it's not an iPad, but she mentions " I wasn’t able to fit my iPad 2 with its beat-up bulky leather cover into the Sling III, but it will fit with my Smart Cover from Apple on the iPad."
Bag looks quite big on the pics.

        • Thanks for that. I'd say it's about 50/50 if it can fit a Surface Pro 3 in it then. It's very similar in dimensions to an iPad 2 (although a little larger) and I don't use a case for it.

I found the receipt for my first generation Passport Sling. I paid $29.80 in 2014 for it and it's been my daily commuter bag and travel bag across a few continents. It's still in excellent, near new condition.

I've had one of these for years, beat the crap out of it, taken it to atleast a dozen countries, deserts, beaches, snow, up mountains, on a camel, hiking etc, still feels new! Would recommend

  • Love the crazy rrp pricing. It's been floating between $50 and $42 for a few months now…

  • Amazon must be matching Digidirect https://www.digidirect.com.au/lowepro-passport-sling-iii-bla… if anyone want to go pick up themselves from a physical store, not advisable if you are in NSW though ;-)

  • For those with the bag - have a look at the way the girl in the picture has it slung.

I've always worn it the other way, with the taller part of the bag towards the front. Have I been doing it wrong all this time or does she have it backwards?

    • The girl is correct. It makes sense to have the open pocket at the front for items I reach often, like mobile phone, glasses or water bottle.
Have a look at various photos on Lowepro's own web site, they wear it the same way as well https://www.lowepro.com/global/passport-sling-iii-black-lp36… .

    • i also use it how you describe.

    • You need to have a nose ring to wear it the way she does.

    • Do it the way the girl has it. There’s a bottle holder at the front.

  • believe it or not, but I still use that bag from 2015

best $12 I spent in years

thumbs up to Lowepro, top quality camera bags.

    • Same here … still like new after many years use on the m/cycle. Purchased the above offer as a bday pres for the nephew. Thanks OP.

  • Does it really fit the tablet? I’m having trouble seeing any expanded images showing a tablet going in or what size it fits.

    • The side pocket fits an iPad mini.

  • OMG I completely forgot I had one of these. Yes it does fit an iPad mini. In fact if you remove the padded section, it fits my current 13"MacBook Air (though you'd want it in a padded sleeve or something I think). Quite a versatile bag. I used it for my DSLR which is now pretty much gathering dust in a bottom draw somewhere as I pretty much use my phone for all photography now.

  • anyone who has one, what's the base like? is it well cushioned?

    • +1

There's a good amount of cushion around the internal padded sleeves for camera/tablet. There's no cushion for the main compartment though.

    • +1

The padded inside section is cushioned at the base.

  • So according to DigiDirect it's $10 off, as well as eBay… Not really a huge saving…

For those who don't need a tablet/laptop compartment, the Passport Sling II is around half the price on Aliexpress. I think the only difference between the II and III is the internal padded tablet/laptop compartment. Might be a copy and not real though.

It's $20 delivered with the new user coupon.

There's only one customer review for this product on Aliexpress, and it says that the bag is obviously counterfeit and the quality is not great.

    • when promoting sketchy sellers is a bargain

  • Thanks OP, I've been eyeing this bag for a while, but could not justify another camera bag in my collection. At this price, I can.

  • ……where you all going?

  • wtf lol. looks like a bagpipe without the recorders sticking out of it…

  • Just got it delivered. It can't fit a Surface Pro 3 inside the tablet compartment which is a bummer, and the bag as a whole is no bigger or different on the outside than the first version. It has a different internal pocket layout but that doesn't really warrant the upgrade for me.

I'll be sending it back as I'm still happy with my first generation from 7 years ago that gets daily use and is still good as new.
