Netgear Orbi RBK752 AX4200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System (2 Pack) $679.20 + Delivery/Pickup @ JB Hi-Fi

50

Cheapest I've seen so far. Bought this at full price a few weeks ago for $850 as my old Airport Time Capsule couldn't handle multiple MS Teams sessions anymore.

Flawlessly handles 35 devices. Should have made the switch earlier.

Bought this from GG Commercial 2 weeks ago, still waiting for delivery. Called the store that was allocated and they said no ETA yet. Very disappointed with GG in terms of fulfilling the sale.

    • I used it to price matched at JB. They had no problem doing it. The system is really good, fixed all my dead spots upstairs.

      • Hi KiwiRoo, which JB store did you price match it at? My local at Narellan won't do it. Many thanks

Great system but do not buy if you have kids. Parental controls don't exist unlike their previous orbi models which supports circle.

    • Circle is a paid/sub only feature afaik. most of these features are turned off anyway when you use AP only mode. So I’m not sure what value it provides in my experience/opinion.

      • You still get some features as circle device built in early orbi models. You will get basic turn on/off features like turn off aaa's iPad after 10pm, or cut off YouTube etc..

With these new WiFi 6 orbi range you do not get anything at all. Just a cut the internet and let back in every time manually.

I got 1gbps speeds with nbn, this system is really good for performance. But I have spoken the Netgear support few times and they have been telling update on the way for the last 6 months. Go to Netgear community forums you will see lots of people returning the product.

        • i didnt downvote you, but my earlier comment is based on my experience on the 'early orbi models'.
the circle 'feature' availability is practically useless in my current config. the only way i can enable circles is to add this mesh router by creating another subnet to my existing network. It doesn't provide any value in my use case at all. Perhaps it's useful for people who use it as their 'all in one' network solution.

besides, circles came up with their own 'box' in their new solution, so that's probably why it's not available from these netgear offerings. (https://shop.meetcircle.com/products/circle-home-plus-parent…) just my speculation.

          • @slowmo: i dont mind the downvote, whoever it is probably a netgear fan doesn't know anything about this setup.

to be honest we shouldn't have talking about circle at all. Even way cheaper Tenda mesh had some controls for the devices connected. I had Tenda before and i could set some settings like which devices can connect and what time. Netgear should have provided their own features just like any other manufacturer so would not need circle at all.

About circle: my understanding is all wifi 6 mesh systems have problems with circle. if you look at their website they recommend using it in "compatibility mode" (eero 6, ax4200 and ax6000 rbk 853 etc.) in the States forums people complaining about the little slower speed even with 2nd gen circle device attached the system.

So i still insist, if you have kids that you would like to control their internet connectivity, i don't recommend this, i wouldn't buy if i had a chance now. Maybe i would get eero 6 or Asus zen wifi 6 XT8

            • @gilean: i must disclaim that i didn't have an in-depth understanding of the circle solution.

Although it seems that much of the latency is born out of the fact that everything in the network will bottleneck in the circle device attached to the system. Unless we are talking about a similar-class sort of router specs, all sorts of traffic performance is going to tank.

Analogy is probably a disinterested security guard sitting in a 6 lane 300kph highway and every car passing through needs that guard's permission to move along.

@gilean: I purchased the Asus Zen mesh system for this reason. Parental controls are free and are absolutely brilliant. Can control from my phone. Was demonstrating to someone at work how to switch off individual devices from the net and switched off teenage son's gaming PC. Had a phone call in under a minute from him asking to switch it back on again :)

    • is Circle your only option?

      • Yes at the moment Netgear own app have none parental controls. Only option to buy circle device and set on mode. If anyone else knows anything else happy to try out.

They pushed bitdefender armour for antivirus with unlimited device coverage but thats also a paid service and also not solving parental control problems.
