Missed out at JB or OW?
Available at $2 less than JB's price and seems like plenty of stock (at least in Sydney).

Lol
Then again, it's only available on-line in Adelaide with no stock in Officeworks stores, but I couldn't edit as you'd replied:-0. $3 isn't a bad premium for now.
In Adelaide but not in NSW. At least shipping is free.
Sure - none online in NSW @ OW and good luck finding one in store in any major city. So not a deal by past standards but a deal that you can actually buy now.
Or you can take a punt at getting it from google and hope your phone arrives before the sale ends to take advantage of their price match.
I ordered mine on Christmas day, says expected delivery is 1st to 4th of Jan (it's not guno be 1st) so unlikely to make it.
U do, however, have 15 days to hope another sale to come along at officeworks (they won't accept jb as it doesn't specifically have the words "unlocked")
Why not - if you look at the product category in the HN website the phone falls under it says "unlocked phone"
EDIT - sorry, you were referring to JB - that link's gone anyway.
Unless you had $550 in HN vouchers…. Got two of them yesterday very quick pick up.. Can't complain… Replacing a Note8 and a pixel2 xl… So far it's OK definitely not as premium as my note but at least it lasts a day battery wise… (heavy user)
For 5G GSMArena lists:
5G bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 28, 41, 66, 71, 77, 78 Sub6, mmWave (market dependant)
That "market dependent" is a bit of a worry - in a typical and expected act of marketing bastardry, 5G **without* mmWave comes nowhere near the hype the providers are spouting,
more like 4.3G…
By the time mmWave is available in Australia we'll be commenting on the Pixel 7/8a.
TBH I have no real interest in 5G speeds but wanted a larger screen than what the 4a has.
Finally found it:
Pixel 4a (5G) G6QU3 (US only, Verizon only) mmWave & Sub-6
G025E/G025I/G025H Sub-6
This was from Google own site. The model numbers don't match up to "GA01311-AUS" but is what you get offered if you try to find the specifications from the Australian sales page.
I held off Google phones ever since I bought the Nexus on the basis of " First to get updates" only to find my Samsung Nexus bought via Vodafone needed the update to be passed by Samsung then passed by Vodafone, was updated to it's final version 11 months after just about every other contemporay model, and only ever got one update although the Samsung it was a slight modifcation off got two more.
That, this obfuscation and opaqueness and the cunning stunt they pulled this year with our music purchases mean they will be whistling before they ever get another brass razzoo honestly from me.
Each their own, really. I was kicking myself for not taking up the Amazon S20 FE (non 5G) deal, but that's life.
I believe that the galaxy nexus was sold under samsung's label (but could be wrong) whereas the Nexus 4 and above were exclusively google branded and non carrier dependant for their updates. Getting security updates before anyone else is a major plus. And of course that near unparalleled (until recently) camera quality.
@gadget: " galaxy nexus was sold under samsung's label"
My pointing out the "Samsung" may have mislead you. It was sold as Google Nexus - the one made by Samsung. I did buy a second one later that was made by Motorola - when they were still Motorola - and enjoyed that one.
I passed up a chance to get an LG Velvet for around this price, but for a mid-range phone with high end features, I can see why this one is appealing.
Same, as well as better battery and CPU.
It also has an Ultrawide camera, one that is reasonably good in all situation. I took some Night Sight ultrawide (it's possible to do Astrophotography ultrawide as well provide you uninstall GCam update to roll back to 7.6) and it's actually pretty good (for ultrawide). I use Pixel 5 but it's same as Pixel 4a 5G.
There's no mmWave in Australia right now (commercial mobile providers) so I'm not sure of the use of having it.
mmWave has the headline marketing figures, but it's the least useful part of 5G for most people. How often will you actually need 1Gbps+ download speed on a phone and at the expense of destroying your battery life and having to virtually be line of sight to a tower?
Gaining a modest amount of speed across all scenarios is what will actually be an improvement for everyday use using those lower frequency bands.
"you actually need 1Gbps+"
As the rest of the world moves onto 21st. century broadband and web pages/media adjust their content to suit I'll be restraining myself from destroying my TV as the Coalition's new dissembly ad for "Gigabyte Broadband now available (business account only, available in extremely limited areas, terms and conditions apply, sacrifice of first-born advised) stutters down my 48.423Kbps maximum FTTN link 70 meters from the node on a 500 meter loop back to the pillar…
Was waiting for this phone. However it took too long to release. And I have to buy other brand. Maybe next round 5a.
Only thing is 5a won't have the unlimited high quality photos upload with Google photos
Isn't Google changing it for everyone from June 2021?
Everyone but the Pixels that are already out.
@eecan: I can see the reason to buy one.
Original Pixel still still gets free unlimited photo back ups at full quality. I know as I still use one.
@billy_bob: Can you say transfer files from another phone to the pixel via Bluetooth, and upload those to get unlimited storage aswell!?
@BigDaddy365: Yes, just tried and it worked. Worth keeping my OG Pixel just for that!
My nephew is onto his 3rd replacement of this phone due to screen touch issues.
I can't recommend.
I've noticed a lot of QC issues with the latest gen of Google products.
Almost every Pixel gen has QC issues.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Pixel 3, but I'm onto my 3rd one via warranty exchanges…
Almost every Pixel gen has QC issues.
Add Nexus too
I've got 1 from jbhifi yesterday. And I love it. Only thing I would love on next 1 is double fingerprint as power button like lg does. So you have 1 button to wake and lock the phone. Otherwise 🥰😍
and SD card support
Gonna need a time machine to get this on a Google phone.
Is this a upgrade to my pixel 2 xl?
Yes.
Bought yesterday using Harvey Norman $600 gift card bought from shopback for 5% cashback. Total cost $617 ✌🏻
High five!! 🙌
am I the only one who bought this just for the unlimited google photos (high quality) storage after June 2021
haha…may be…
Doubt your the only one, and great bonus, but moot point for me with one drive home account… :)
Got this yesterday from a store in Melbourne. Used the Zip Pay 10% off and got $64 off. Pretty happy with the phone so far.
same but dont think i would could spend enough to claim the 4 dollars.
And $3 more than Officeworks.
Not a deal.
