  • This is from their website…NOTE: If you are purchasing this product, it is a condition that you like our OzBargain post as this deal will only be honoured to the first 50 customers from OzBargain who have liked the post. All other orders will be refunded and ignored. When ordering this product, select "pick up in store". When your order is being processed, ADU staff will change this to delivery for you at no extra cost. Please ensure when registering to our website you fill in the correct delivery address as that is where the goods will be shipped! We ship with Australia Post and do ship Australia wide.

    • -1

I have no problem with this.
Post liked, order placed. Thanks very much!

      • -1

Yeah, I have no problems with those conditions either. Would have liked the post anyway.

      • +1

making it a condition to upvote the deal to get the deal grossly undermines the quality of this website turning it into the equivalent of a face book 'like'. i would not be happy for this to be allowed, which judging by the mod comments below it is not.

        • +3

if it is already taken care of by the mod, then what is the purpose of your neg?

        • +2

What xotic said. It has already been taken care off. Thus your negative vote is pointless and redundant.

    • +7

This is a good deal but I am going to neg for those conditions. Whatever the intentions, you should not have a condition which essentially translates to buying votes on ozbargain.

      • -5

quickling, this deal is exclusive to OzBargain thus the conditions..

        • +5

You can make the deal exclusive to ozbargain by just posting the link here or have an "ozbargain" coupon code or something.

If the deal is good the positive votes will come naturally. There is no need to induce people to vote for your deal.

        • Question for OP, how will you match the Ozbargain votes to the orders?

        • +4

Aussiedownunder, votes are not to be exchanged for getting a deal. That undermines the voting system. This deal will be removed until that is removed from your website. Please REPORT once that is done. UNPUBLISHED pending change.

          EDIT: Changes made. REPUBLISHED.

        • once 50 orders are placed, item is closed on website. Emails sent to customers asking OzBargain user ID. This will be done to filter our duplicate orders + confirm conditions are met. Once done, invoices are processed and goods shipped.

  • Placed order! Sweet!

  • +1

    Hi SmiTTy,
My website was very difficult when trying to make just the one item free shipping as all others have a formula built in to the website which auto calculates the shipping cost. So to save myself re-writing this code just select pick up and we will manually change it to shipping at no cost once your order is processed :)

  • Great deal!

  • How do you select pickup in store - I get "Please select a Shipping Method!
Australia Post shipping calculator failed, reason: Please enter a valid Weight. "

    • even I am getting the same error message

    • Hi Robinsoa, try ordering again.. I have had 7 orders come through so far all selected as pick up in store, not sure what is happening for yours :S

      • OK, now I can see an $11.35 shipping charge.
        No selection for pickup.

    • Hi zxcv,

If you made it to the PayPal window your order went through. If we have not received your payment you will be contacted in the next few hours and we can work it out together then. Chances are it has gone through though, if you don't hear anything from us this is the case!

      • great thanks, looks like it went through, got the confirmation, i included my user name in my order notes aswell. thanks for the prompt response! with deals/service like this, i'm sure you guys will be popular on ozbargain!

  • Hi Guys,
$1 SPORTS BOTTLE NOW SOLD OUT!

We will have another deal like this in the near future though so keep an eye out!

    • Sold out in 20 minutes?…crappy deal

      • +1

As stated above we only had 50 available.. Good deal man! Thats how it sold out in 20 minutes :P

      • +3

        I HOPE that was sarcastic!

as this was a pretty fantastic deal… man its no wonder reps dont want to come here and offer decent deals!

you have 0 posts optus_fail, lets see you do better!

        • -1

its not sarcastic - CLEARLY its not a good deal - limited quantities that sell out in minutes get the ire of most Ozbargainers.

        • They were upfront about the limited volume and gave a deal exclusive to ozbargain, alongside a non limited quantity deal. Get over it.

  • Can you please look at 'Aussie Down Under Purchase Order - 105‏'. Fairly sure, I didn't go through the PayPal payment process, yet it looks as if it's gone through? @$15, I'm not keen. Can you please go ahead and cancel the order if that's the case. Thanks.

  • Purchase orders 39 through 89 will be accepted. Chances are we will find a few duplicates through these though which means orders 90+ might still be accepted once we cancel the duplicates. Any other orders which have gone through but not one of the first 50 will be cancelled and refunded.

  • mine was #65

  • I got #40 :)

  • sigh I got 103. That is the second deal I have missed this morning (first was the dunlop volleys).

  • do i stand any chance if i buy it now ?

  • 86 :)

  • So close, I'm order #90

  • +1

i missed it!, i didnt read the Rep's commnets…and when i saw "pick up only" i checked their locations…wetheriall park, fairfield, bankstown….and i didnt bother with it…bugger!

  • -8

looks like the mini me of COTD … bait and hook method.. big neg for me

      • +3

A $1 stainless steel sports bottle shipped Australia wide deserves a neg? Wow, I guess your name "elcheapo" has alot more meaning than anticipated!

        • yeah they are freaking harsh as… its a buck! they did it for some advertising… they had 50 - a decent amount… and you still neg it! let me guess, would have been totally different if you guys had got one.

        • +2

I'm not questioning your $1 deal .. it is the fact that it's a bait and hook method for unsuspecting visitor to visit your site and you hope for them to buy other products.

I also even wondered why you didn't mark this as expired as yet.. just to proof my theory :)

        • +9

2 deals in the post. Read the post it does say the bottle has sold out but the other offer still remains. And the whole bait and hook comment, dude welcome to the world of business! Find me any single retail store in Australia which has been trading for more than 2 years which does not do this same technique… If you can't wrap your head around the principles of marketing then you shouldn't be giving out negs in subjects you don't understand.

And besides, at the end of the day 50 customers have just scored a $1 stainless steel sports bottle shipped to their door, so despite your desperate hunt for a reason to neg this post it is still a good deal either way and everyone else loves it.

        • They've actually posted it as soon as the cap was reached…

OMG, its advertising for them, you think people come here just to give you free stuff?
and 50 is no small amount… WITH free shipping!

          see loss leader

        • +1

          elcheapo = epic fail.

  • haha #89? .. yes!!

  • -6

I'm giving this post a negative based on the fact that 50 bottles is not a OzBargain deal. Although some may consider this a deal, but this is by far and large not an OzBargain-type deal, which the representative for this organisation has clearly indicated by posting here, and targeting us.

As many have pointed out, this is clearly an attempt to market themselves within our community. Some would go as far as accusing them for bait-n-switch with the NYE deal, but let's leave that for another day and focus on the original deal at hand.

    • -5

      Good call Bragains!

Its clearly not in the spirit of a true OzBargain deal with only 50 available.

      • +3

what about the big W ladder gate, and other clearance items that like 2 people get, score hundres of votes for the minute chance of getting one, at least the OP was honest about the quantity, and let us know as soon as they where sold out. the deal was so good that it sold out in 20 minutes!

other places sell out much quicker, whats your REAL issue?

that they should be making a loss on thousands of units to promote their company?

        • BigW did not set out to sell 2 ladders per store across Australia and put it on their catalogue.

Use that as an example. Draw your conclusions from there. If you can't, let me know. I'll help you out.

        • +1

          sorry it was kmart…

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/46811

          I rest my case.

    • +2

How is it not an 'oz bargain' type deal? People are often posting links to limited item auctions or eBay listings with limited stock, sometimes well below 50, and they get accepted no problems at all. This is no different.

      • The only one I've seen in the first 10 pages is this;

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58831

The poster did not divert the attention with another deal within the post.

        A similar one with diversion tactics, although with a considerably higher amount of stock;

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58499

A few other deals by Meritline, whom were not posted by persons of direct financial interest of the organisation, usually posted across other boards as well.

    • -2

      Totally agree with you man.

    • +2

If I really wanted to bait and swap, why am I "swapping" from a sports bottle to a combo deal with a tent, esky, picnic mat and thermos? It seems far more practical to "swap" my customers to say, the 1.25L EKO Sports Bottle for only $5……

All I have done here is post two great deals, one so good a limit had to be applied. Neg all you like, say all you like, accuse of all the foul-doing and bad stuff that you want, but ultimately this was a good deal posted, 50 very happy OzBargain users loved the sports bottles and another 6 OzBargain users loved the NYE camping combo as they have purchased that too.

Both deals listed were of considerable value when compared to standard retail prices of these products and are more than worthy of OzBargain.

So what if I use OzBargain to advertise our company and deals? A few of this sites mods do the same thing for their own companies - provided the deal offered is of good value and OzBargain users like the deal then I see no harm in myself or any other users doing the same thing.

      • -6

If you really want to make OzBargain-ers happy, you should have increased the price up from $1 but lower than the usual retail price. That way more people can participate in the deal..

        • +2

Well as you continue to prove you can't always make everyone happy!

        • LOL….classic!

sorry Aussie Down under, i have no more negs to give them, man i cant believe they are complainging about this… keep up the good work. would be a shame to see another decent rep lost because of the few who want to bag everything!

      • By all means, use OzBargain to advertise. You're more than welcomed. But understand your deals and associated actions will be scrutinised heavily by the community, which we have done so in this thread.

Before the mods consider our correspondence as aggressive, a simple suggestion of mine might help you save all these negs and ugliness. You could simply have create a new post with the new deal. I think that would rightly keep most of the nay-sayers like myself quiet.

But of course, that would mean that this new deal would not be a part of the limelight on the 7th December, 2011, as per your original deal of $1 metallic bottles, which were not plastic, and had nothing to do with BPA.

        • +2

There is a thin plastic lining inside the bottle which acts as a light thermal barrier allowing the bottle to hold the temperature inside for 2-3 hours. Thus, the BPA remark.

        • -1

@Aussie Down Under - Ah cool, didn't know that.

      • +1

Sorry, have to clarify something. None of the moderators (other than Scott but Ozbargain is his business ;)) of this site post deals for their companies. That would be a conflict of interest. We take the voting and posting very seriously here.

    • +3

Mate, how would you respond to the Samsung Galaxy S2 deal which they were giving out for 5 days to 10 people for $2 - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54666. How many people could benefit from that deal…. voila… 50! and not all would have been ozbargainers as well. This deal is purely for 50 ozbargainers and as far as I recall the rules of posting, anything less than 10 in quantity is not allowed to be posted on ozbargain. If you have problems with the rules, take it up with a mod rather than negging deals which you miss out on. By the way, I missed out on this deal as well.

  • Bate for 50 positive votes really ??

    • +2

Bate for 50 positive votes really ??
      Bate for 50 positive votes
      Bate for 50
      Bate

      Okay.

  • -1

On an unrelated note, who else thinks it's annoying that new posts in the forums contitute a "deal"?

I created two new posts asking a mod a question, and now I've discovered I can't post a deal for another hour..
(if you can access this post, let me know - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59025)

    • cityofsydney, As explained in the TWAM thread it is because in the past users have spammed the forums, deal postings. At first we had it for just new users but we had a long time user start about 75 threads taking hours to clean up.

Easiest way is to start a TWAM and we can bypass the limitation. Generally, an hour should be enough time to wait between postings for the majority of users.

  • i came here for a bottle and instead got shafted….

  • +7

people voting negative just because they missed out on one. If they got one - im sure they wouldnt have given it a negative.

Funny how all the negative voters appeared after the "$1 SPORTS BOTTLE NOW SOLD OUT!" comment.

    • +2

at least the majority of OzBargain users are a bit more reasonable :|

      • Is it just me or has the word "majority" lost its meaning?
you realise you're probably only getting + votes from Ozbargain users which didn't miss out.

        • +3

I missed out but still think the deal was a bargain. Note that the the number of positive votes > quantity available.
