      • -3

Did you manage to screw yourself a deal at 300 off… apparently at the pop shop @ Chodhstone ?

  • +1

    $799 for S20 is cheap

    • 4G or 5G?

      • Looks like 4G 128GB S20 model based on the prices on the Samsung website.

      • +1

        S20FE 5g 128gb is $999 and 256gb is $1049. Effectively makes it $699 and $749. Thats bloody good price!

        • +1

The December update has not fixed the touchscreen issue (Source:Reddit), I wouldn't gamble with the FE.

  • -2

S21 launch is just around the corner.

    https://www.tomsguide.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s21

    • +26

S22 is around the corner again, and S23 … and with S24 we will be back where we are now.

      • -5

        You mean S21?

      • +9

Sooo many corners. If I go around 4 corners do I end up where i started?

        • +4

Depends if your corners were 90deg or not :)

    • Starting from $1499…
I might get a FE model while I can

  • I was offered a discount if switching from IPhone.

    • +33

I would give my son $300 if he ditched his iPhone and let me swap it for and Samsung.

        • I can imagine two things …

  • +1

Is this for today only? If not then when does this end?

    • +1

Dropped by the kiosk, the $300 off is only for S and note devices, last day of deal is 24 Dec.

  • +1

so u can get a11 and a21s for free if this is the case?

    • I am also wondering that :D

    • Maybe Samsung pay you money to take the phone, if it costs under $300 :p

  • I have a grey import Samsung, am I a Samsung family member then ? Will they give $300 discount ?

    • +1

I know you asked this awhile back but I bought one yesterday on this deal adn mine is a grey import. The guy in Parramatta said that it was no problem.

      • Thanks mate!

  • +1

Are there any $300 Samsung phones available?

  • +2

so if i brought in 4 phones would i get a free S20+?

    • +5

      Big brain time

    • If you did .

      • +7

Sorry, brought is the correct word to use in this instance. You are wrong.

        • +1

My mistake, I'd just woken up and read it wrong

  • +4

Seems different to the trade up deal, which was also limited to newer models and varied in trade value.

Otherwise I would buy a few Samsung dumb phones, trade up each to a $300 phone, sell the phones and maybe get a high level phone. Or if I'm ambitious, maybe a yacht or a waterfront property.

  • Walked in to the pop up store in Chadstone and was offered a $300 discount on all phones…

The Samsung A11 has an RRP of $249, so will Samsung pay me $51 to take it home, or just give it to me completely free?
Either way, it sounds like the best phone deal this year, if it really is available on all phones ;-)

Got a S20 for $799 with the discount

Hand back your OzBargain license, you should have gone for one of the cheaper phones completely free :p

  • -1

Still nowhere near the discounts available on the Samsung EPP deals.

    • +4

Don't think the Samsung EPP beats the S20 FE price of $599

  • Can anyone tell me where the studio stores in Vic are located

  • +1

    is this in qld also?

    • Yep, all Australian Samsung stores. Pretty sure it's always been available to Samsung phone owners

  • Damnit! Bought an S20 FE 5G 128GB during the black Friday sales for $849 and thought I'd gotten a good deal. Now it's another $150 off or get the 256GB! Bloody Samsung, the one time I wanted to buy something from you, you didn't have it in stock. The last time they had a promo (free battery bank with a health check), I couldn't even get a booking at Melb central!

    • I did the same, but after cashback it came to like $715, so I'm not annoyed 🙂

  • +1

The S20 FE 5G at $699 is an absolute steal.

    • -7

They need to when they are selling an inferior chipset. There you go I said it. I've never seen Samsung had so many promotions for their flagships in a year.

      • +7

S20 FE 5G actually has the Snapdragon 865 but yeah I wouldn't touch an Exynos powered device again either. I actually have a S20 FE 5G and it's a fantastic device. Nil touchscreen issues as being widely reported and I am yet to fault it yet and I am very fussy with phones. I'm by no means a Samsung fanbois, I was actually considering switching to an iPhone 12 when I returned my Pixel 5 after 2 weeks.

        • Why did you return your pixel 5?

          • +1

@bad hombre: The top speaker is garbage. I couldn't hear people properly when making phone calls as the sound was low and muffled. Don't believe the big YouTubers saying it's fine. They get the phone for free and don't want to risk not getting the next Google phone. For context, I'm a Google fan and it's a big thing for me to return a Google product but it's a major design flaw IMO. I'm tipping they will never use that type of speaker again unless the can improve the sound quality

            • @Seadog3172: I bought mine on the black Friday deals for 750. Have been using it a bit and seems ok - I agree not the best but it works … I have thought about returning it but then have not done anything about. Telstra would be crap to deal with so might see how it goes a bit longer. Google is probably better to deal with in relation to refunds.

              • +1

@bad hombre: I returned mine to JB Hifi after 14 days and they put it through as a defective product. I had printed out emails I had from Google support telling me to take it back to the retailer for a replacement or refund. At the end of the day, if you can't hear properly particularly in a noisey environment you should be able to return it under Australian consumer Law as the device (a phone) does not work as it is intended.

                • +1

@Seadog3172: Thanks. I have not used it in a noisy environment. I actually don't mind the speaker that much yet! Just need to test out some more. Battery life is speed of the device is amazing.

                  • +3

@bad hombre: As long as you are happy with it that's all that matters 👍

                • @Seadog3172: "as the device (a phone) does not work as it is intended."

Blizzard: wait, but you can still play Diablo immortal.

          • @bad hombre: I returned mine because you can't group apps into folders in the app drawer. No secure storage. Poor speaker, camera isn't as good as my Note 10, no mocro SD slot, changing from 5g to 4g sometimes required going to flight mode and back.
It was frustrating every time I picked it up.

        • -1

I would advise not buying new phones at this time of year because the new gen are only around the corner. Which means you can get a vastly superior chip for similar deal if you care about that stuff. But at this price yeah buying now is a good deal. Probably won’t come down this much initially with next get phones. I stopped caring about having the latest flagship chip years ago, because quite frankly even my now ancient exynos chip still opens up most apps in a fraction of a second. And despite my battery being two plus years old still see six hours plus SOT. So I don’t really get the big deal made about these newer chips, but it’s sounds to me by the report’s people claim the newer chips are inferior to my ancient exynos chip power phone. I couldn’t give a toss about geekbench scores, real world use is all I care about. If you care about that stuff, buy an iPhone, there miles ahead according to benchmarks. :)

          • +3

@Ronnnie: "I would advise not buying new phones at this time of year… But at this price yeah buying now is a good deal."

So, we should not buy.. but we should buy?

            • @PuppieWayne: I normally would not advise people buy new phones at the end of the tech cycle unless you are seeing a massive decrease in price. I did upvote the deal.

    • -1

I was looking at the FE but the recent December update does not fix the touchscreen issue (Source:Reddit), so its not an absolute steal, a very bad deal actually. Its clearly a hardware issue. Its sad as on paper its a great phone.

  • +2

Does this include the large stores, i.e highpoint?

    • +2

Interested to know this as well for Qld.

  • Very tempting, but I think I'll just stick with the Note 9 and wait for the next offerings from Samsung and Google Pixel Line up :|

  • Has anyone else verified this works (no trade in required)?

    • +1

      Yes it works great
They just look up the imei of the Samsung phone you own

      • Yep thanks worked at Chermside in Brisbane

  • +2

I have an iphone 8, could I use that to go into store and get the S20 FE 5G at the discount?

    • +6

WTF am I being downvoted for? Someone earlier in the thread said they were able to show their iphone and get a discount, it's a legitimate question.

  • +1

I just popped into the Paramatta Westfield Samsung booth and can confirm they are still offering this. No trade in required, just show them a current Samsung phone and they need the serial number (so probably wont work with grey imports).

They said this offer is only because their current trade up portal doesn't work, so presumably once they fix the portal, you will need to trade in to get the discount.

I managed to snag the s20 FE 5G 128GB model for $699, they had more in stock (only 1 navy left though).

    • Thanks for the info, do you know how much is S20 FE 5G 256G?

  • Out of stock for 256gb, and also it's instore for $1249, so not as good a deal, despite website showing $1049.

    • Thanks, I thought it would be $1049-$300=$749

  • Thanks op. Bought one
Confirm this works. Just came to kiosk (Chadston, Vic) show them old phone. No need serial number or anything else. $300 discount so easy

    • ahh so its a lucky dip of enforcement… I have overseas version

    • was it advertised or something you have to ask about

      • +1

I told them that I have S8 that is very old and want to upgrade. Have a look S20 series and ask them if any offer at the moment. The guy said $300 discount for loyal customers and it will be untill Christmas. Hope that helps

  • +1

Just got s20 fe 5G 128 for $699 from Chermside, $300 off. They said it wasn't a widely broadcast deal.

They also said they didn't expect 256 gb stock again, which is a shame given the extra 2 GB of RAM.

    • +1

Damn that's a good deal for a great phone.

  • Damn didn't know the Samsung store they had here in SA is no more :(

    • Is it not at Marion Westfield anymore?

      • Google has marked it as permanently closed and it isn't listed as a location on the Samsung website. Bummer.

  • +1

Just came back from syd samsung shop. Nobody knows abt the deal. Served by arrogant staffs. Thanks for wasting my time. The deal was posted by samsung associate with big question mark.

    • +1

It's called the loyalty scheme, as I was told by the staff

  • +1

Cheers OP! Just picked up x2 S20 FE 5G phones with the discount.
Just a heads up, turns out the s20+, s20 and FE 4G are all Exynos. Only the S20 FE 5G is Snapdragon.
I went in planning to buy an S20+ but got the S20 FE 5G instead. $699.

Also a side note, they accepted the serials of both my phones, one was from America, the other was a grey market A70 from ebay so seems it might vary by store with the grey market side of things.

  • +2

Will this work at official Samsung store?
    Or just those stalls

    • thats what I want to know!

  • When is the deal end?

  • +2

Tried the official (larger) samsung store george street, Sydney, but no luck. Supervisor completely unaware and wouldn't budge :(
Showed him this thread, he rechecked his systems, but told me to go to the smaller Samsung studio store in Parramatta

    • Yeah I think in Sydney seems like Parra Westfield is your best bet. Might also need to be quick to still have stock. There's no way to confirm over phone as they don't have any direct phone lines (I tried calling ahead via the central Samsung Care line and spoke to a rep, but it's only the online team).

  • Thanks OP
    Bought 2x S20 (4G)
Just looked at my broken S8 and didn't even ask for serial number or anything

  • +3

I went to both the Samsung Store on George St, Sydney and then to Westfield Parramatta.
The Sydney Store is not a Studio Store and cannot give you the $300 discount. This was confirmed by the service staff. However, they have a $200 discount on the FE's and $250 discount on all the other phones.
I ended up getting 3 x S20 FE 5G's, with $300 discounts on each, from the Parramatta Westfield Store on back order. Ie. although they had no stock, they immediately offered to order in whatever I wanted and in any color.
All service staff I dealt with were very helpful!!!

  • Did the deal change? How do you get the $300 discount?

    The site says:
Save up to $250 off the galaxy s20 range*

    S20 FE 5g 128gb @ $999 - $250 = $750

    • The discounts you are referring to, are the ones available in all Samsung Stores.
The $300 discount in only available in Studio Stores.

  • Where are the studio stores near North Sydney?

    • +1

I think there is only one in the Sydney Metro, and its Parramatta.

  • Hi All,

Those who bought S20 FE 5G models with this deal, Could you please check if you are experiencing the (common) screen issues. There are multiple youtube videos show how you can check it.

I really want to buy this phone as it comes with Snapdragon but I am worried about this screen issue (which seems to me to be the hardware issue)

    • I have also read the same about the phone screen issues..

  • Bought Galaxy S20 FE 5G 128GB for $699 from Fountain Gate, Vic store today under this loyality offer. Really good price. My only worry is whether it will still have the touch screen issue or not.

When I checked this with samsung they have informed me that if the seal is broken they are sending the phone to repair centre if there are any technical issues and then if samsung admit it as an faulty device i can ask for full refund or a replacement. Now, i dont know whether samsung already admitted or going to admit there are touch screen issue going on as it is not occurring always from what i read so far on forums/youtube.

    • +1

I bought one during the black Friday sales and let it get all of the updates. I haven't noticed any touch screen issues during daily use.

      • @NimitzHarrington did you try it using the touchscreen test app to see whether issue exists eventhough you havent noticed it during daily use. Tx.
