$693.6 for the 5G model is incredible value

  • +4

Kinda kicking myself for not waiting on Wednesday… Paid $850ish including delivery for the 5G model…

    • damn

    • This deal is $845 for the 5G model, so you're not missing out on too much

      • +1

That's true, but the 10% cashback from zip wasn't out on wednesday which makes me sad.

      • +2

That's without the cashback though. He's missing out on 12%.

    • I'm in the same boat :(

  • +2

Hm, how about these touchscreen issues?

    • +3

No one seems to pay heed to it when the prices are down down 😁

      • +2

lol, seriously, nothing worse than having a problem like this. Even at $399 I wouldn't get.

        • +7

Been using it since launch. Never had any touchscreen issues.

          • +1

            @OZBsince2018: That's awesome!!

          • @OZBsince2018: Knowing my luck i would… And it'd drive me crazy

            • @scud70: Haha, me too, not tempting fate.

              • @RocketSwitch: agreed… it just happens way too often to me! haha

                • @scud70: Feel like it kind of depends on how you use your phone. Unless your doing double swipes or swiping in quick successions then you probably wouldn't notice a thing.

                  • +1

@Glittrfist: I think the point is something so simple as a touchscreen shouldn't be having issues on a $1000 phone. Even if you don't notice it much it's not really acceptable imo. Especially when much, much cheaper devices can get it right.

                    • @bert-lifts: Absolutely agree. Would have purchased one by now if it wasn't for this issue.

My point was only illustrating that some people aren't going to notice it.

                    • @bert-lifts: Definitely not acceptable on any device… And even more so from Samsung. This is why they'll never reach Apple level in terms of quality (i use note 8 so no im no apple fanboy or whatever)… I just have ignored this type of thing (like the htc M9) and gotten burnt… Even if i got it at a massive discount.. The headache was just not worth the gamble

                      • @scud70: Absolutely not worth it at any price - I've used $100 Android phones that didn't have these issues. Every single one of these phones I've tested in a random bunch of stores has had this issue, and most people realise it exists if you get them to run the tests. Pretty sure it's a hardware fault at this point - let's see if Samsung try to bandaid it with software or actually fix it properly. Way too many Samsung apologists accepting poor quality goods - and likewise, no <other brand> fanboy here - I'm using an S20+ (that I got after returning my FE).

    • +3

Haven't really noticed. In any case, by now there have been 2 OTA system updates to improve touch screen issues. Now I notice it even less than not at all :)

    • I noticed some issues at first but as of recent it seems to be working perfectly. For me there wasn't any alternatives considering the value provided and I'm overall very happy with it.

    • +1

I've been using mine since Thursday lunch and have not seen any of these supposed issues. I even went on the Samsung reddit and downloaded the touch screen test app and did their weird test and didn't see what was supposed to be wrong.

  • I was kinda gutted when I didn't go for the ETC Deal, now I'll probably bite the bullet

  • I thought shopback + gift cards didn't go together - is this an exception with the 3% amazon gift cards?

    • best to check the terms on Shopback for each store, but generally, cashback stacks with gift card payments

  • Not sure if it is the same for SB but for CR, the cashback was based on pre-GST price, so with the 12% amazon cashback, the amount should be ~$753.

    • thanks for letting me know. have included pre GST cashback rates in description

  • +1

This or the Oppo X2 Pro?

    • I did lots of research and went with Oppo X2 pro, no regrets.
But if u definitely want wireless charging and don't mind claiming warranty if you later on have touch screen issue, then go for this. I'd be 100% buying this phone if I haven't seen the screen issues around.

    • Oppo
+ snapdragon 865 (vs exynos on Samsung)
+ ceramic glass and more premium look (vs plastic on Samsung)
      + better camera hardware
      - no wireless charging
      - UFS 3.0 (vs 3.1 on Samsung)
      - worse support

      • the 5g version has SD 865

        oppo is ~$1.1k vs s20 fe 5g ~$850

      • +1
        • no wireless charging

That in itself, for a >$800 phone is a dealbreaker for me personally

  • +1

Hmm, thinking of getting this site un-seen. I have an S9 which has some battery issues but I do like the smaller size but at sub $700 this may be worth the plunge. Torn…..

    • Me too … though I'm still plugging away on my S7 …. paid a similar $750 for it 4 years ago :)

      • Be warned though guys, it is a large and chunky phone. Especially with a case

  • Thanks Op, I'll grab one of these for my wife!

  • Shame they don't have the 256GB version with 8GB of RAM. Wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for that.

  • any real difference between the 4 and 5g model besides the network?

    • +3

it uses the more superior Snapdragon chip

      • thank you 5g will be the go then ! just smashed my p30 pro screen

      • Ohh ok was going to go for the 4G version!

  • Should I go for the S20 or S20 fe? Saw this deal on optus website.

    https://www.optus.com.au/mobile/phones/samsung/gs20-4g?SID=c…

  • Damn apparently I can't sign up to ZipPay as my application was unsuccessful and now I can't sign up for 12 bloody months. RIP getting this phone for 693

    • hey man, its okay. Use discounted Amazon gift card. Even tho its $25 extra compared to Zip, its still a really insane price !!

      • Does 12% Cashback work with gift cards? I'm afraid it wouldn't so I didn't consider it an I haven't seen anything about it on the Terms and Conditions

        • yup it does

          • @skido: Oh shit, I might have to go for that route, cheers for the help man

          • @skido: Slowly waiting for my Gift Card to be delivered, didn't expect it to take this long lmao

            • @KDOZ: should be sent instantly. these phones are going OOS like crazy. Navy OOS already

              • @skido: It's been a solid 40 minutes and nothing, I just hope the Green one doesn't go OOS

                • @KDOZ: 🙏🏼

                  • @skido: ZipPay doesn't work, PayPal ain't sending my Gift Card, today is not my day is it. I'll just hold off till an ETC Deal or someshit

  • Same price at JB. JB has the 15% Coles gift cards atm too.

    • +1

yup, though a bit of a hassle. Enjoy the benefits of ordering online from Amazon and having it shipped to your door

      • +2

Agreed but risk of cashback not tracking.

  • Do I purchase $845 worth of amazon gift cards for the second option?

    • Correct

  • Already gone

    • navy OOS. other colours still available

  • What about this one? Shows for $730. Is it a trustworthy site?

    https://www.tecobuy.com/en_AU/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-5g-6gb-1…

  • Yep, navy OOS

Was waiting for the 12% cashback.

    • +1

I grabbed navy a few mins after 2pm WST, and there were 4 or 5 left (order confirmation received at 207pm WST)

Ohh just saw your later comments

      • Yep, almost missed the 12% cashback too….

  • +1

Can anyone please enlighten me that how cashback works (precisely, how to get it). I'm pretty new to this game. Thanks

  • How's the camera compared to say, the s10?

Does it compare to the Samsung flagships or is it closer to the mid tiers (eg. Galaxy a70)

    • Exactly the same lenses/sensors for the two main shooters (wide and normal) as the S20. The telephoto isn't as high a megapixel count or zoom.

  • Thanks OP, bought 2 …. for reals :)

  • FFS.
5pm AEDT thought was 3pm WA time.
I almost waited till 3pm, but now the blue sold out.
Guess I messed that up big time

  • Navy all sold out

And stupid me thought 5pm AET was 3pm WA time.
Was waiting for the 12% cashback

*Went for the white. Not my preference, but I screwed up the items with bloody eastern states times.

    Hope the 12% tracks.

  • Ended up getting the navy 5G model (cheers OP!), and grabbed a Spigen phone case for $23.99 shipped with PRESS20 code, and should hopefully get the CR $10 bonus on the purchase :)

    • What's the 10 CR bonus?

    • +1

      Thanks for this.
Picked up a case too. Hopefully the tenner tracks easily enough.

      • Worth getting a screen protector or supplied OK?

        • No idea. Only ordered phone today and case today after prompting from Spackbace after

  • +1

Anyone have a suggested screen protector? Upgrading from and S5 finally, not sure which ones are good.

  • Is it worth buying from Amazon US at lower price or are there issues using a US model here?

  • Has anyone shopback been tracked yet?

    • Just received
      $92.18 shopback cashback.

I made it out to be $101.40??

My other $51 purchase at same time tracked correctly at $6.12(12%)

      • Same here. I believe amount is based on pre GST. Still great price!

Now waiting for $50credit through zippay.

        • Got mine last Friday and balance full paid already.

        • My Zippay came through yesterday afternoon!

  • Has any got their phone yet? Was there a screen protector installed on it?

    • They attempted delivery today, hover I have all my stuff sent to work are they were closed. TBH I was not expecting it so fast! The driver called to ask where he could leave it, I said take it back and deliver it tomorrow, it needs a signature!

  • Is s20fe 5g still 845? Showing 938 for me

    • click link in post. only lavender is $845. All others sold out

  • Some 4G model back in stock

  • Arrived today, crazy delivery timeframe

    • Whatttttt

      Unbelievable to Perth.

      • Perth airport depot apparently! I believe it was already here in the state

        • I just checked. The 'white' hasn't been shipped yet.
          ETA 07/12

    • yea amazon AU is trying really hard to win over ebay (I think amazon is doing really well tbh). 3 years after their launch, they're still copping up a few million in losses, probably due to the competitive price matching and expedited delivery fees

For the 2019 year post-tax, Amazon Australia said it posted a loss of $4.7 million and paid $2.5 million in income tax for the year.

      • I had to buy on eBay earlier, as Amazon AU was not currently stocked (Bike parts)
I would have much preferred to shop Amazon, used up last of my eBay giftcards and won't be getting any more.
        Amazon for the win.
