Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

The best and easiest strategy is to simply buy zero-fee gift cards that you will use.

    • that is bs, there is no such thing as "settlement fee". You have been charged either wrong amount or wrong fee by the restaurant.

      • I need a comprehensive investigation and it's not on the restaurant's end. This is Grill'd. Asked regarding CC surcharge, or anything like that and it's not their end. I think I took screenshots of the online balance too. I calculated it to be a 20% surcharge which was ridiculous. So I'm warning to be cautious when using the only1visa

        • Was it your share of a split bill?

  • +1

Buying on Prezzee app via Apple Pay confirmed working for me.

    • No, it doesn’t for me

      • Worked for me too, about 2 hours ago

  • Looks like zip doesnt allow to pay balance via creditcard in new accounts. accepts only debit card.

    • +1

Not the case for me, I set up credit card on my new account (opened ~10 days ago, added credit card on day one).

    • It’s your credit card problem. Try other issuer.

    • Tried to pay with Coles mastercard (which is credit i assume?) this morning and gave me an error

  • has anyone tried to buy ikea gift cards? if so what is the max value can you get and where can you get this from? will prezze app work?

    • +1

Woollies had ikea gift cards at 10% off I think last 2 weeks, might come back next week

      • thanks mate. trying to work out which GC's i should get :) i generally dont have much outgoings and only think of woolies and coles but just cant be bothered to pay upfront for a small discount.

        • Get the Prezzee branded one so you can swap to many others later when you know

          • @thriftee: ok why does the post warn about prezzee sorry havent read the old posts.

            • @lknight: because this deal is limited to tap & zip in store payments and not online payments.

              • @neilpatrickharris: ok cheers. i can see earlier posts some having success. I will give it a go, if it goes through I should get cashback right? did anyone not get CB so far via prezzee?

                • @lknight: Just did it 2 mins ago and worked fine

                  • @neilpatrickharris: What denomination? Tried 50, 100. Can't get through

                    • -1

@Bargain-er: i just tried $1000 but got knocked back. order ws unsuccesful due to payment assessment from our processor.
ZIP is showing transaction as pending which means I cant buy anything else. Ok so how smart, thanks for nothing ZIP. I wont bother using this POS.

                      • @lknight: Hopefully you did this as $300x3+$100. Remember that you can only get $30 back per transaction.

                        • @neilpatrickharris: oops completely forgot about that, bugger. I did $1000! but prezzee instantly knocked it back saying it was unsuccessful however zip is still showing transaction pending. will I get this reversed today so I can buy again?

                    • @Bargain-er: Did $200, $300, and $10. All worked fine

                      • @neilpatrickharris: thanks got my limit back and just purchased $300 but got Order in Review :(

                        • @lknight: Do you mind explaining how you tap and zip via prezzee app? New here.

Got 4x $500 pre-paid MasterCard from Auspost using husband and my zip cards. Tap and pay worked, split between 2 transactions per card, no questions asked. Received all rewards, happy days :)

    • Auspost's MasterCard can't be used on most of the online payments, pretty useless, the one from Coles ($257 for a $250 value) does, I used them to pay a $1850 bill for a $136 discount, which is equalled to 7.5% discount, tested myself.

      • If you know what to use it on then there’s no problem 😉

    • But since it’s $500 and not $300, you miss out on $40 cash back? Plus a purchase fee?

      • split between 2 transactions per card during payment. So $300 +205.95.

      • Split payment, that I did too, read more carefuly.

    • +1

Did you do this at AusPost AusPost or LPO?
I tried at LPO but the machine rejected my tap and pay :(
Tried to split $300 + $194.05. The machine showed it only accepts debit/savings/eftpos.

      • +1

Didn't realise there was a difference! Just the one in my local shopping centre. Think it was Auspost Auspost?

        • Yeah, that’s most likely AusPost AusPost! I’ll try again today, thanks for the confirmation!
LPO is like a franchise/privately owned post office under contract by AusPost, usually newsagency, lotto, or milk shop.

    • Will these post offices be open next saturday (Boxing day)?

      • Only the licensed ones, not the AusPost offices.

        • Can bills be paid at them?

  • Does paying off the balance with a credit card (ANZ) count as a cash advance on the credit card ?

    • No (source: I have an ANZ card, have paid, no cash advance fee, rewards points earned).

      • Did you use BPAY to pay off balance?

        • No, ANZ credit card as bar6gain asked about.

I rang Zip yesterday but couldn't wait more than 50 mins . I'm multi tasking and ringing them again now to find out the happening from their perspective .

    • I can't seem to find their phone number, do you mind posting a link?

  • Got my $30 back for my $300 amazon gift card via prezzee app using Apple Pay. Easy peasy

    • +3

Better to get swap card instead, that you can swap to any card you want later, more flexible.

      • Thanks for the tip

      • I may be missing something here, but I don’t know of any swap cards that allow you to swap to Amazon gift card. Which one are you talking about specifically?

  • Wish prezzee works for Google pay. No surcharge on gift cards is great.

I have to use a workaround of a Coles team discount card

    • How does this work? When using prezzee app I doesn't ask for Google pay option. Only has credit card or PayPal

  • Just bought $600 7-11 GCs and the credit received immediately

    • $600 all in one card?

    • Had to break mine into $150 per card… couldnt do $300 apparently.

      • On the back it says max $150 per card

        • I see. So the limit is 150.

  • Prezzee works for me(purchased amazon giftcard)

    • Doesn't it have to be tap and pay?

      • Works on Apple Pay only.

  • I only got 3% on the first Saturday.

I've emailed zip twice, first time they said they'd give me bonus credit (which didn't happen) and then they said that it takes 14 days to change to 10%??? That doesn't seem to be happening to others?

Zip Pay has really irritated me, as I have been waiting to verify before using the card just to find out I fall short and lose my credits… :(

  • Anyway I got through they said it can take up to 14 days to appear in the account which is 7 days from now and I'm fine to fire today for the bonus if I wish to .

    • Ok, that's the response that I got, but it sounded like others had it instantly in their account?

  • Bought $600 costco card. They were fine doing 2x $300 payment.

  • How long does it take for the credits to appear after a transaction?

    • I got it within minutes, but still only 3% …

They told me it takes up to 14 days….but it still hasn't happened :(

    • +2

      Immediate

      • Damn, so Zip lied to me?

        Thanks!

    • Thanks! Got mine immediately, and @ 10%.

  • great

  • Bought Woolies GC on Prezzee easily, but not the case for Coles. Any idea, guys? Paid by ApplePay, it kept saying unsuccessful transaction.

edit: successfully purchased 3x$50 Prezzee Smart eGC but it stopped working after that.

  • Registered on Google pay but every time I tap it goes "scan or enter card"… I have no physical card? Anybody have this issue?

    • You need to set it up in the zip app first to get a card number. Check the original post for instructions

      • I generated a card in the app and used the "add to google pay" link from it to add into my google pay wallet… Am I missing something?

        • Not sure, maybe add a normal credit/debit card first. I have that and my zip card, and can pick which one I want to use and also set one as a default card.

          • @TEER3X: Yea I have my normal cc as registered under Google pay and use it all the time, the zip one added as a second card and I then set it as default.. Tried at tapping at woolies and aus post same response to insert or scan card.. *shrugs *…

            • @c0lch3y: So it shows up under the G Pay app, but just doesn't work when you go to check out?

What about when you click the zip card within the G Pay app, does it say "hold to reader" at the top?

              • @TEER3X: Yea it does (show hold to reader) , I hold it to terminal and it scans/vibrates but then terminal asks to insert or swipe card

                • @c0lch3y: That's just weird.

I always instruct the cashier that I'm paying by credit card, but I don't think that will fix it for you. You may have to call zip

  • Trying to buy amazon gift card from Prezzee second time but it says order unsuccessful. First one as a guest went through without a problem. Any ideas? Could zip start blocking prezzee?

    • Same here, worked for the first couple of Swap cards earlier on, then unsuccessful (with 2 different accounts (my wife and mine) on 2 different phones). Perhaps Prezzee got a flood of purchases and is blocking Apple Pay (? with Zip only or in general) until they figure out what's going on.

    • Not working here either…

    • Same, dang it, after fingerprint it just says Try Again. I think they are blocking Apple Pay atm due to the sudden influx. Prezzee.APIError error 0/1.

Edit: managed to nab 5x$100 at random times but error afterwards.

    • I think it is working about, just got 1x$100 and then 1x$200 through

      • Wonder how this works. On checkout it asks for card PayPal details.. no apple/Google pay.

Do you generate a one use card to use?

      • Amazon fails for me, wish card and bunnings worked.

  • -1

I'm thinking prepaid Eftpos , Visa or Mastercard that can have a crack at paying a discount card in the future where gift cards can't pay for them . Any ideas of the best one that does that function ?

My thinking is Eftpos is best .

    • +1

IMO not worth the stress. Sweet spot is Prezzee swap card.

      • Thanks for the tip. I didn't know what swap card meant before. Exactly what I was looking for.

      • For someone who doesn't know % 's its a play :)
People that know better will be on my line of thinking .

  • I wanna stock up on gift cards to hopefully assist in nabbing a good deal on a 5600x. Best strategy people? Amazon gift cards?

    • +2

Amazon gift cards stacked with ShopBack and hope for a sick boxing deal deal

Or use eBay plus price protection with hopefully a sick eBay boxing deal deal

      • I thought it was eBay price garauntee, not limited to plus members

        • Huh.
Yes ur right. Weird - in my head it was a plus only benefit.

I’ve had plus since day 1 though.
