120

This seems a decent price for a head unit with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

  • You've posted a deal for $499 available in 10 days but when I click on it it says $449 now. What am I missing?

    • sorry mate, updated now

When you buy this, do they offer a service to connect it or you'd have to go somewhere else?

    • +1

Depending on what car you want to fit it in, could be an easy DIY with ISO leads and whatever else might be required. Let us know what car (year make model variant) so we can assist.

        • +1

Will certainly fit, just need fascia kit and iso harnesses. Very easy if you're up for it. Look up Toyota Camry as that is what the Aurion is in America.

          • @placard: As above. Also, there's a 20 pin connector in behind the factory head unit which has the SWC (Steering Wheel Controls) wires. The Kenwood units have OEM SWC capability built-in, so no need for a separate SWC adapter. Use this chart to identify which wires gets soldered/insulated to the Kenwood SWC loom.

    • I don't think they do installation, but a lot of people say it's fairly easy to install, there should be some useful videos on YouTube.

  • Does this fit in Mazda3 2004 auto

  • I got this last week from autobarn for $479. Pretty good unit but can't get the self learning steering controls to work after connecting with wire tappers. gonna have to take it in to the installer one day. Install a breeze if you have the facia kit already.

    • What vehicle?

Decent price for a capacitive display, and Kenwood.
These Kenwood units usually have a built-in steering wheel controller which can save you around 90 bucks if you want that functionality.

I must say, after going wireless Android Auto/Carplay last year: it's worth the extra cost, so convenient to just leave your phone in your pocket.

    • Won't the battery tank though like using your phone on a cradle?

    • What model did you go with? I've been waiting on a sale for anything with wireless Carplay, but nothing has come up in the past few months.

    • What model for wifi android auto?

    • What model pls kind sir

  • I'm useless at installing things. Realistically how much would it cost to install in a i30?

    • +3

I paid $150 for installation, but supplied all peripherals myself. Realistically you will need to add:

      • fascia (most cars): 50-70 bucks
      • harness cables Hyundai to ISO: 12 bucks
      • harness ISO to Kenwood: 12 bucks
      • Antenna converter (sometimes): 10 bucks

I gladly paid the 150 bucks as they also installed the microphone in the roof, and USB cables in the centre compartment.

      • That's not too bad, thanks.

I'm assuming navigation is done through Google maps on your phone which is then shown on the unit's screen? Bit like chromecast?

        • +1

That's correct, Android Auto/Carplay are projections cast by your phone.

My JVC/Kenwood unit came with a GPS dongle but I think that is only used for the compass function.

Just realised Pioneer DMH-Z5350BT is also on sale for $499, which one is better?

    https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/pioneer-pioneer-dmh-z535…

    • I bought the Pioneer from AutoOne a few months back. It is a great unit but even the installer had problems with my A3.

    • +2

Better off getting it from Bankstown as you get the reverse camera thrown in

      • It's about $100 more expensive though?

        • It was $498 when I posted that comment.
          It fluctuates a bit.

    • I installed this in my Camry. Love this unit.

      • How is the stereo?

        • It's a great unit, awesome display and Android Auto works well. Great sound too, pioneer units always do

    • I've read bad reports about the pioneer and android auto. Alpine and call sound quaility so I went with kenwood after problems with sony.

  • Does it fit Mazda CX9 2010? Any other accessories needed. Will it integrate with everything like steering audio control, Reverse camera, GPS?

    • It should fit most of cars, you can check here https://aerpro.com/ for all the wiring needed.

    • CX-9s are a bit of a bastard because of the clock controls (and CAN for trip computer) located in the factory unit. Aftermarket units don't have the capability to control these functions. There are interfaces out there to get the controls back, via a sequence of button presses on the SWCs, but they cost a lot.

Personally, I'd recommend ditching the CX-9 before the transfer craps out in it and costs you a fortune.

  • Since Kenwood has this thing https://www.kenwood.com/au/car/visual_navigation/oem/

Just wondering if I still need to buy the Steel wheel control Patch lead and the interface?

    • What car?

      • Kia Sportage 2013

  • +1

You should be fine, identify which 24 pin plug it will be using the Kenwood chart after you remove the factory unit.

  • Will this work on a 2012 SZ Ford Territory TX?

    • Problem with Territories/Falcons is they run an ICC, which as you know integrates the A/C and audio in the same screen. You can't simply fit an aftermarket unit to them. There is an exception, some mob called Kayhan do a complete replacement ICC. I wouldn't touch it with a 100 foot barge pole though…

    • If your Territory has Sync 2 this might be an option: https://soso.co.nz/product/ford-sync2-apple-carplay-android-…

  • What's the start up time on this?

    • I just got one today, will post more information after installation.

      • Any word yet?

        • Starting time is okay, it's around 9s.

  • How does this compare to the Sony xav-ax3000?

  • Which is better for Android, this out Sony XAV-AX5000?
    Thanks
