A place to share Western Australia’s many stories. Our people, our places and our role in the world.

All WA Museum Boola Bardip entry tickets for the opening celebration taking place 21 – 29 November have now been allocated to the successful ballot entrants.

To manage crowds, we are now taking free bookings for visitation from Monday 30 November to Sunday 31 January. You may book up to ten tickets and we recommend allowing yourself at least two hours to experience the Museum's many exhibitions.

If you register for a tour, program or an event, entry is included in your booking.

I nipped in there last week during a lunch break and they were letting people in without (free) tickets as it wasn't busy. I didn't have much time but what I saw looked great. I'm looking forward to going back with the family for a more leisurely visit.

Think the tickets are more for crowd control and to limit numbers.

  • Went last week with the fam.
Really nicely done but I remember there being way more stuff as a kid? The first exhibition about the seven sisters is great.

    • Yeah, I thought the new museum was meant to be a lot bigger but it's probably the same or smaller than the "old" (~1999 Francis St Building + Jubilee Wing + Hackett Hall) one.

  • I remember when museums took facts and artefacts, and (tried to) made them interesting. It was science and history.
Now it is all politics and subjective story telling. About what feels right. The sort of "truthiness" that Stephen Colbert satirised.
I'm sure there will be no room for the photos that factually depicted the realities of life in pre-contact Indigenous WA in the old museum, instead there will be a "celebration of culture and diversity". More fun I suppose, but yeah. Still, I am looking forward to seeing it all!

Are they bringing back the vintage car collection and blue whale? Those were our favourites as kids.

      Blue whale is there.
Vintage cars have been at Whiteman Park for ages.

      • Thanks! Must take the kids there.

  • Free Entry to WA

Almost thought this was a deal about the borders opening on Dec 8.

  • Is "WA Museum Boola Bardip" the same place as the WA Museum, or is it something different?

    • +2

Same( in the city near the state library). WA Museum Boola Bardip is the new name (Boola Bardip being Noongar for Many Stories)

It is a museum, built and paid for by MY TAXES, should be FREE for everyone FOREVER.

That's what governments tax us for, educationg our children should be free and available forever.

If we started taxing the mining billionaires and their corrupt companies, we wouldnt have to pay to be informed and educated.

    • $500mil … was the price tag

      • And the nerve to display a Che Guevara t-shirt and consider it Innovation.

        • lol
