I could have sworn they were always this price at officeworks

    • Yeah, that price has been $29 for months now. I've been eyeing on it. JB Hifi has it, I've tried it and now it's between this one or Lowepro

      • I have both. They both fit the same gear (D5100 twin lens kit plus SB700 flash plus 50mm lens plus charger) with the Vanguard being a little more snug (which isn't a bad thing as it kept the camera in place where in the 102 there is a bit of movement). The Lowpro (102) has more pockets on the outside (x2) where you can stick a small digital etc and some internal pouches to seperate things. Plus it has a pull out flap and strap to secure a tripod on the side (something of use for me - but maybe not for others). The 102 also has a pull out elastic rain cover that slips over the bag.

You should easily pick up a 102 for $90 or possibly less with some serious haggling. While I want to like the Vanguard as it has a slightly lower profile then the 102, I will only end up using it as a day bag when not lugging a tripod and use the 102 as my main bag. Great value for money. The thing that I like the most about the Vanguard is that it secures the zipper much better then the 102 and makes it difficult for someone to come up from behind and unzip and nick your camera without you noticing. I'll have to use a small lock on the 102 when O/S for 'some' peace of mind.

        • Just realised, I have the 47 not the 37.

  • Are the specs on this right?

    "Inside Dimensions(LxWxH mm):190 x 130 x 170"

Seems tiny, yet the official website says fits SLR with lens + 1-2 extra lens and flash, cables and charger… kind of small to fit that lot?

    • From reviews on amazon it does fits an extra lens and few extra accessories easily.
I needed a starter DSLR bag till I make my mind on accessories and lenses I will want to carry.
I had my eye on Lowepro slingshot 102 initially (Costs close to $100). Price difference was too great to ignore.

      • Well I measured up my D300 and don't think I would get much more in the bag with that and a small 55mm lens on it… I do have a Rezo 160 and the D300 and a 300mm lens just fit in that… Though certainly no room left for a Speedlight!

BTW Officeworks have the BIIN 47 for $10 more… Might be more useful if anybody had a larger SLR.

  • thanks op. just ordered one. very good design and it was love at first sight.

    • In that pic the bag looks big… Unless they are very small hands.

I guess I need to go see one in reality.

  • Cool - bought one. Hopefully it will hold the extra lens and flash unit as the website claims…. otherwise I've just thrown away $35 (inc delivery). Even better will be it holding the DSLR with the zoom lens attached

    • They don't claim that this model will hold the DSLR with zoom attached. They do claim that for the Vanguard BIIN 50 though.

      • I realise they don't claim it, I was just hoping that bit… :-)

  • Thanks. Purchased 37 one. 47 is a better deal but I do not think I need such a big one.
I may regret in a couple of years though.

  • Got the bag today. Very happy with it :-)
