    • whats the proper way of churning nbn FTTP service?

      • +11

Don't churn, sign up for a new service on a new port then cancel the old one when you're connected and happy, I believe :)

        • so there will be days where you are paying for both services?

          • +1

@PissLUR: I usually ask them to start my service on the last day of current service

          • +3

@PissLUR: With FTTP they can usually connect you on the same day, then you can ring your old provider and be disconnected immediately. So there is only one day when you are paying for both.

However, some ISPs require 14 days notice to disconnect, it is worth checking.

            • @zzymurgy: thanks. currently with mates.. have 1 month risk free guarantee. not sure if i should use this card and get my payment refunded.

          • @PissLUR: You pay pro rata for all these plans. So paying for one day extra isn't going to be much. Should get credit or if you don't have any other services get them to send the money to your account. Usually a months worth.

        • +1

Do you mean cancel the non superloop service right? Just double checking.

        • What do you mean by new port? How do you get them to activate a new service on it?
          Edit: on NTD?

          • +4

@bhunter101: The nbn FTTP NTD has four WAN ports that can take four different connections at one time.

Sign up for a new service and the new ISP will see there already is a connection for example on the first UNI-D1 port and the new ISP will put their service on the second UNI-D2 port.

            • +1

@Twix: Thanks for that. Never looked inside NTD box haha.

    • Is it possible for a FTTC connection to hit 215Mbps?

      • +1

        Not at this time

        • -3

I correct, most FTTC are capable of 250Mbps

      • +1

NBN Co has predicted up to gigabit speeds will be possible in its fibre-to-the-curb (FTTC) footprint “within the next calendar year”, though CEO Stephen Rue asked not to be held to the timeline.

“Or, if it’s a cost effective way, we may build an FTTP lead-in, where you just effectively connect the lead-in to the existing equipment in the pit.

        NBN iTnews

There is a user paid FTTP option coming in December that will get you connected sooner.

    • Does this stack with referral link?

      • No unfortunately. You can refer people and get credit against your plan fee, but can't get referral credit plus use this promo code.

        • Right, so only refer others after signing up, thanks :)

    • Cheaper than Spintel. Wow. Will try to schedule it for 6 months from now. Interesting " Plan selection is currently unavailable. Please try again later or contact us on 1800 10 12 10." I chose the 50/20 plan.

      • Cheaper by 5 cents per month for the first 6 months

      • Getting same error

      • +1

Got the same error, called up sales line and they said there is an issue and developers are currently looking into it and they use the same portal. Said to try again in next hour or so.

        • Looks like Signup is up, worked few minutes ago.

      • +1

Oh well, only able to choose up to 2 months in the future. Maybe next time. Still happy with Spintel.

    • +2

Any wifi router recommendations for hitting 1gbit?

      • +2

I've been wondering the same thing. This is helpful to start your search. I also doubt you'll get gigabit using wifi.

        https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/9z8znpv9?p=7#r122

        • +1

Gigabit speeds using a wifi 6 router and 2x2 wifi 6 client and 4x4 wifi 5 client is possible.

          • @Twix: I would avoid wifi 6 routers unless you actually have wifi 6 capable devices. You're just adding extra cost for something you won't use and chances are by the time you are able to use it you would be better off getting newer more capable wifi 6 routers.

            • @Rodgort: Yeah you need Gigabit speeds to make the most out of wifi 6.

      • Found any good options?

    • +1

      Whistleout15FOR6 works for 25/5

    • Their 50/20 is quiet expensive. I'm paying $65.89 a month with Kogan on the same speed and the speed test gives me roughly about 35-56Mbps.

      • It becomes $58.95 after discount.

        • For 6 months.. Kogan had $10 off also for the first 6 months when I signed up.

    • +4

“ We were unable to complete a qualification of your address.”

    • I just moved away from them. Will I be considered a new customer if I go for this offer?

      • Nope.

        • -1

go under someone else's name in the same household, should be a "new customer" then as per comments in the vic superloop offer.

          • @kehuehue: Your NBN location ID doesn't change. If they have a different last name that could work but the ISP can ask for proof.

      • How were they though?

Need reliable so I dont disconnect from online servers from drop outs…

Oh and work too I guess…

        • Both me (in a house) and my friend in an apartment have experienced very frequent dropouts. We have to heavily rely on mobile data.

          • @lily99: What kinda tech are you on? FTTB?

            • @9839002: FTTC for me and FTTP for my friend.

              • @lily99: Interesting. Thanks

              • @lily99: Have you and your friend each told your ISP to get NBN out and fix it?

Dropouts on FTTC and FTTP are easily fixed.

                • @Twix: No, superloop just tried to config our routers but didn't work… shall we contact NBN directly?

                  • @lily99: No you tell SL and they organize NBN to come out. Have you tested another router?

                    • +1

@Twix: no I haven't tested another router. I'm planning to disconnect SL tomorrow. If same dropouts with the new provider, I'll ask them to organize NBN.
                      Thanks for your advice!!

                      • +1

@lily99: I am experiencing the same too, lots of dropout…never happen with ABB. Thinking of moving back to ABB even though is more expensive.

                        • +1

@Kooratz: I'm now with Internode. At the start, Internode sent NBN technician to my house and found one of the 2 legs of the cable outside was squashed. This was then fixed.
However I still have lot of dropouts with Internode, visible especially when I'm on coles site, where it keeps on telling me I'm not connected to Internet.

                          • @lily99: Someone from whirlpool advise me to do this

Go to your Superloop login, under self help.
use disconnect session, and restart your modem. https://whrl.pl/Rgbqb3

It has not drop out for over 24 hours now… maybe it fixed.

                            • +1

@Kooratz: Thank you! I'm now with Internode, and will try to see if their member area has similar things.

    • +2

Is it 6 months before you can join Superloop again to count as a "new customer"?

      • Yes from memory 6 months…Maybe someone can confirm…

        • Thanks! Still have 3 months to go on Kogan ($63 odd for 50/20).

Anyone else do the OzBargain 6mth shuffle from provider to provider when the discount runs out? :)

    • +1

New customer means not connected for 6 months

      • Damn. So tempted to switch back. But I only left them in June. Still have another month to go before it's 6 months:(

        • Me too, i disconnected in August and to further add went in contract with belong

          • @USER DC: I'm just on the portal, haven't committed. It's showing me the $20 discount per month. I used the exact same details as last time. But a new username..

Shouldn't it decline the code? Or will they do that later…

            • @odax: Its best to just open under someone else name may be someone in household (perhaps mum, dad, friend, roommate, girl friend etc. and use your payment method)

I honestly dont know what is the outcome going to be if sake person signs up within 6 months.

But let us know if it works.

For me least i am locked up with belong, but still belong is cheaper than superloop for me even after discount, just lacks phone callin service for tech support

              • @USER DC:

just lacks phone callin service for tech support

Send a support request here. Click on the "help" link at the bottom and a chat box will pop up from the bottom right. There you can send a request and they will call you back. I've found their support pretty good actually. They call back relatively quickly and follow up on ticket numbers.

                • @CVonC: No i found that contacting them on Facebook is best option.
They never called me ever though

              • +1

@USER DC: Fyi worked for me! Sorted for the next 6 months.

  • +8

FYI, full prices (unlimited usage, per month):
    25/5 $65
    100/20 $90
    100/40 $100

    • so with the 20 code, its 45 pm for 25/2?

  • +3

Does anyone know how the service compares to AussieBB?

Currently on the 100/40 at Aussie but plan is changing to $109 per month. If you have switched over, is there a speed difference?

    • +7

Getting slightly lower on a 100/20 plan on HFC - ABB was 106/23, Superloop is 104/19.

    • +8

Used both ABB and Superloop before (100/40 fttp).
Can't feel any speed difference at all, switching experience was seamless which took around 10mins.

    • +8

Speed difference is always subjective beyond basic domestic traffic - it depends where you want speed to. Most providers should get a good speedtest result to the closest speedtest server and be generally fine for domestic traffic - the difference is if you do a speed test to LA for example, or anywhere else that you download/upload from (especially at peak hours). Same goes for latency - if you play games on NA or SEA servers then more optimal routing (which generally costs more for the ISP) can make a big difference. ABB and SL are both very good in both of those categories and those are the two main differentiators over providers who target low costs. They're roughly equivalent and both have high control over their network - I last used ABB nearly 2 years ago and they had a few things to iron out with their new network (routes to some locations), so I switched to SL and had a better experience. I'm sure those teething issues with ABB are long sorted by now and I should probably switch back for the new customer discounts.

    • +1

They are fine on FTTP, I haven't noticed any difference between the 2

    • +1

Service is the same speed for me, both slightly over-provisioned on 100/20 speedtest.

    • Thanks all for your feedback.

    • Haven't used Aussie in a while but both had great International speeds and pings. Superloop is a tad faster when resolving websites (probably down to the DNS).

Don't know if Aussie still does it, bit they would always schedule asinine network maintenance during 12am. It was frequent enough to get annoying.

      • Yes they still do it - I have a constant network logger going and ABB frequently has very high latency around 12am.

  • Does this stack with referral code?

    • Same as other deal: No unfortunately. You can refer people and get credit against your plan fee, but can't get referral credit plus use this promo code.

  • Which provider do they normally use? I'm with mate who have been good but I've found their speeds to be dropping - they use vocus where I am (hfc)

    • +1

      SL built their own network.

  • +2

Can't get the site to past finding my address and connection…..

  • +3

Superloop are amazing. <3 Been very happy with them. I wish i could get this discount though (existing member)..

  • +1

Why do they say NBN isnt available at my address when I am currently using Telstra FTTN? Do they not use the same infrastructure?

  • +2

Literally signed up with Superloop 3 days ago with $10 off referral code :(

    • Same 😒

    • +1

Dont feel bad, I just signed up with the $10 referral code earlier today …

      • Try pm their rep on whirlpool. May get lucky getting offer applied as service recently started.

        • Good idea. I just emailed billing to see they will do it. Could not find any rep on whirlpool that turns on pm.

  • Thanks Op! Just in time.

  • How long do you have to be "away" from superloop to be eligible if you have used them before?
