    • I believe 6 months.

      • T&C's reads like forever "per person per premise". I guess they would tell you if eligible over the phone right?

        • Yeah over the phone or at online signup.

  • if you switch nbn's. is there a period where you're not connected? not like gas/electricity utilities where they switch you over without breaking anything…

    • +2

I switched to them recently from Launtel, took around 10-15mins of down time and I was back up.

    • Possibly a couple of minutes if you need to redo your router settings.

  • +1

Anyone had experience with Superloop? How's their speed (50/20) and customer service?

    • +4

I joined them during the 6 week special offer. They were excellent; zero dropouts, very reliable service.
I had a few glitches getting a router sorted (I supplied my own) and the help line helped me through it, even on a Saturday morning.
Would have stayed with them except the lockdown killed my income and I had to make savings. But I would go back without a problem.
      Hope this helps

      • +1

thanks. Might consider moving to Superloop

      • Dropout daily with ABB in RYDE .. Changed superloop .. it hasn't dropped once in 4 mths .. solid HFC connection

    • I went from ABB to Superloop and now back to ABB.
I had heaps of dropouts and found the support worse than ABB. Might have just been unlucky tho

    • Their customer service is awful. I had to take them to fair trading to get a refund I was entitled to and the "manager" I dealt with was shocking rude.

    • Have been with them over a year. FTTB Melbourne CBD. No complaints till now and steady connection and speeds 50/20 500GB

  • Am I still qualified to get this discount if I left them 4 months ago to join ABB?

    • Nah, have to be away for 6 months to be eligible

  • +2

    $ABB shareholders in shambles.

  • +2

Something is wrong with their site. One second it can find my address and the next second it can't.

  • +1

What is the minimum time we can reconnect to superloop to be considered a new customer?
EDIT: Found out it was 6 months

Should I stay with Telstra Cable internet or switch to NBN? This 100/20 plan looks good

    • Telstra cable is getting shut down. You have to switch to NBN eventually.

      • :(

        Is NBN usable yet?

        • +1

Check what kind of NBN using the address checker

          • @Twix: Mine says FTTC… will it be stable compare to Cable internet. I'm happy with my current speed

Also, do I need new modem ? I have the modem and router from Telstra

            • @Scythic: I had no stability problems on FTTC and if there is NBN will fix it. Download speed is a around 108Mbps and upload speed will be 20-40Mbps depending on the plan you select. NBN provide their own FTTC modem and you hook it up the Telstra router.

NBN Co has predicted up to gigabit speeds will be possible in its fibre-to-the-curb (FTTC) footprint “within the next calendar year”, though CEO Stephen Rue asked not to be held to the timeline.

“Or, if it’s a cost effective way, we may build an FTTP lead-in, where you just effectively connect the lead-in to the existing equipment in the pit.

              NBN iTnews

There is a user paid FTTP option coming in December that will get you connected sooner.

    • +4

I'm sticking with Telstra cable until the final day. Paying $69 for 115/5 is amazing compared to the NBN rip off, even with the proposed NBN tax.

Being in a weird area with both NBN FTTC and Telstra Cable I've been able to get the NBN installed and working for a few days so that if it gets switched off unexpectedly I can have the NBN active in a few hours.

Launtel is great for this because they give a 7 day free trial and it's billed per the day https://launtel.net.au/ so you can get the NBN equipment installed and then disconnect it. Someone should be able to correct me but the Telstra HFC and NBN HFC should be able to run along side each other on the same cable.

      • $69 is a bargain :-)

Telstra cable and NBN HFC can be running at the same time.

      • I'm actually paying $90/month for 115/5. The download speed is amazing

  • Does Superloop come with public accessible IP address?

    • +1

Comes standard with a Dynamic IP (unlike ABB where you have to request it), you can pay an extra $5 a month for a Static IP, I just have DDNS set up on my router for the Dynamic IP.

      • Cheers. That's good enough for me.

      • Forgive my ignorance, but why would you want a static IP?

        • +2

For me personally it's port forwarding. So I can request movies / tv from outside of my network and they'll automatically download and be on Plex. That's basically all I need it for, but others may be hosting websites on their network, etc.

          • @BeerCrisp: What setup do you have to request movies/tv? Interested in taking my Plex to the next level once I build a new server.

            • +5

@[Deactivated]: I use a Sonarr, Radarr, Jackett, Deluge, Ombi setup. Sonarr for TV, which will automatically download as soon as episodes release, Radarr for movies (same concept), Jackett to handle the torrent trackers, Deluge as the torrent client and Ombi which allows you to request TV/Movies far easier through their mobile app. Also super convenient for my partner to request stuff rather than trying to go into Radarr / Sonarr. PM me if you want more info :)

              • @BeerCrisp: Definitely PMing you. I have all that setup except for Ombi, never heard of it till now!

          • @BeerCrisp: I do this with a dynamic ip using a duckdns docker on unraid but a static ip can make it easier to setup

edit: ombi is brilliant. Once up and running my setup is 99% automated. My biggest issue is now hard drive space but been migrating to google drive and using rclone to map it as a local share

        • Hosting servers and services externally

ie. Plex, mail server, NAS, etc.

        • +1

          CCTV.

        • +1

Some paid streaming services, particularly NHL.tv, chuck a fit and cut off access when your IP geolocated location changes as that means you must be account sharing. After several months of attempting to educate them that dynamic IP addresses exist and especially with the makeup of the NBN your IP location may not match your billing address, my father gave up and just paid for a static IP to avoid fighting them any time the IP changed.

My personal opinion is that those services deserve $0 due to their sheer greed and stupidity and as such the high seas are the only real option, but that's a bit less convenient than the official access for most people.

        • For work, we have a "whitelist" of IP addresses to access certain resources.

  • Does Superloop provide public IP or is it CGNAT only?
(I am on Aussiebroadband HFC now)

    • +4

      Public, Superloop don't do CGNAT.

    • Or ask for a static IP.

  • +1

I have a belong router would I need another router to go to superloop?

    • +2

      Nope.

      • Would the existing router just work?

Also does Superloop only do limited geographies? For some reason it says not available for my address (and surrounding addresses) but I am currently connected to the NBN.

        • Yeah it does.

SL service all of Oz. Maybe a glitch.

  • +4

superloop won't detect tthat my address is eligible so not sure how to sign up. (I am currently on nbn)

  • Silly question - but can I use my Belong modem with these guys?

    • Yeah.

  • selected my address and get "Plan selection is currently unavailable. Please try again later or contact us on 1800 10 12 10."

  • +2

Can anyone vouch for the quality of Superloop's customer service? As a 2 year customer of ABB, we're paying too much (50/20 @ $80pm), so we're keen to switch if the service difference isn't too bad.

    • +1

M on same plan too, but scare to move out. Aussie BB Customer service is top notch and local in Aus. Need to decide if paying a little premium is worth sticking as the plan here are for 6 months only.

    • +2

I was with Superloop for 6 months before churning over to Internode in September.

I had zero issues with Superloop's quality of service.
When I called their support line to clarify an issue with my FTTP nbn port, I was pleasantly surprised with their quick and informative response.

Will most likely churn back to Superloop once my Internode 6 month contract ends early 2021.

    • We pay 100/40@$75pm with ABB for 500gb pwr month.

      • I'm $80/mo for 100/40 500GB with Superloop.

How'd you get $75/mo with ABB??

        • I am on a very old plan.

          • +1

@BinnyC: Yep, I feel like I'll be on my plan forever. ISPs seem to increase prices and drop speeds. How did they get away with dropping 100/40s to 100/20s and charging more?

        • +2

          I was on ABB's 100/40 (500GB) for $80pm until a few mins ago.

Got an email that said higher costs force them to:

          1. halve our upload — from 40 to 20
          2. hike our price $15 — from $80 to $95

But Superloop offers my ABB plan for just $5 more — $84.95 (for now at least).

Even better, this deal brings it down to $69.95.

          • +1

@Member 0230: Yep, same for me. Churning now for the $79.95 plan @100/20, 500gb per month, plus the 6 months at $15 off here.

Was happy with ABB service, but the double whammy of price rise and service drop was a bit rough.

            • @rhimes: $15 a month saved + another $15 for the first six months: that's a win in my book.

    • I havent had to contact Superloop yet (transferred from ABB) but just in general ABB do have a better customer service experience. Just for example when you leave ABB they credit you the days left on your billing month. But according to Superloop terms and conditions they wont credit you that difference when leaving, so leave on the firat day of the billing month will cost you the full month. Also when i left ABB i got a text the next day (i hadnt notified them) to confirm that i had left but according to Superloop T&C you have to call them to let them know or you risk being charged a new billing month.

    • +1

How many times have you called ABB for customer service? In 8~ years of NBN usage with various ISP's, I called 3 times… (All issues were related to NBN works/faults).

  • +2

Just left Superloop yesterday and connected to Tangerine. No problems with Superloop just finished my 6 months $21 off 100/20 trial. Back in March when it was listed (I had some connection delays) that worked out at $58.95 for 500gb - awesome. I really only need 50/20 and they wanted their $73.95 500gb plan. Tangerine offered $59.90 unlimited for 6 months. Guess I'll where I'm at in 6 months time again ;)

    • Did you use an OZb referral for tangerine when you did that? :)

      • Didn't know there was one :( Geez rookie error ;)

        • Hehe.. I've been on Tangerine over 6 months .. like you will probably bounce not 'normal' pricing will apply, a credit to my account to keep it lower would have kept me. No issue at all with Tangerine - I just hate paying $$ for a FFTN connection that maxes at 35MB (so to get that I have to pay a for a 50 plan.)

      • What's the benefit?

  • +1

nice offer just in time to switch from belong

    • +1

Same - just did exactly that.

  • Superloop can't connect my address although I am with other nbn provider right now

  • +1

anyone know how long these deals are valid till? My current AussieBB 6 month discount ends next month and also AussieBB increase prices by $10 next month also.

  • +3

Placed order to change from ABB at 2:12pm, switched over and working at 2:26pm. Speed test is showing faster speeds than what I was getting on FTTB with ABB.

    • +1

does ABB pro-rata the remainder of the billing cycle?

    • +1

Did you have to call ABB to cancel or did you just sign up to SL and they managed the cancellation with ABB? Also do you know if ABB will still charge for the whole month as part of the billing cycle and will they issue pro-rata refund?

      • would also like to know this too.

      • +4

For FTTC and HFC, they manage cancellation with ABB and ABB will refund unused days of month.

        • +1

Thank you! I have FTTC so should be easy to move then.

          • @ozioziozi: I'm on FTTP - guess I'll need to call them

            • @itsmehuey: I am getting that address error while signing up on SL so can't proceed with the move just yet. I will try in a few minutes again. Fingers crossed!

              • @ozioziozi: good luck! if all else fails maybe give them a call. I tried probably 5 times before SQ worked.

                • +1

@itsmehuey: All done!! Signed up 5 mins ago and it's already up and running.

                  • @ozioziozi: Nice! Yeah mine took only about 5 minutes to get up and running too.

            • +1

@itsmehuey: Yeah call to cancel for FTTP.

              • +1

@Twix: Yup just did that earlier this afternoon. All sorted :)

        • I gave ABB a call anyway and they confirmed pro rata refund (month by month).

  • +3

This Superloop website is trash from UX perspective and what's with the 3TB limit on the 1Gbps plan?

    • website is weird, it's like a mix of a uni website and a phishing website lol

      • +1

        😂

  • +3

Promotion ends 11 Nov but can I order for next month connection ?

    • +2

      Yeah. That’s what i did.

  • +1

Signed up at 3:41pm to port from belong - service active at 3:49 -_-
