Got transferred from ABB in 5 mins, house located in south Brisbane, FTTP connection, submit online app on 10:10 am, got connected on 10:20 am. you even do not need to change the rounter setting or restart, it is just automatic and fast. signed up SL 100/20 plan for $74.95, speed is good so far, no drop out.

Called ABB to close my account, telling them change to SL, they are not even trying to retain. service disconnected in 5 mins, waiting for my pro-rata credit back now.

Happy … thanks for sharing this. hope there is better deal after 6 months …

  • Can anyone recommend a good router for the 100/40 plan?
I was with ABB and their router’s wifi was dreadful; the speed was all over the place and they claimed it was interference but I’m not entirely convinced.

I use a Ubiquiti AMPLIFI HD, it’s a few years old but is/was pretty good. I have an extra mesh point but I don’t need to use it because the range is already pretty good as is.

There’s a newer version - Ubiquiti AMPLIFI Alien which you should probably look at instead.

Ubiquity Amplifi products are very easy to set up, it’s very Apple/Iphone like in how simple the process is via the app. It’s pretty much plug and play.

      Speeds are also great.

When I trialled SL a few months back I used an Apple Airport Express for a week, then switched over to my old Netgear D6300. Both are quite ancient and they took a bit of fiddling, but the speeds were consistently 95-105 down and 33-38 up. Good coverage through a medium-sized 2 level house, we have HFC.
If I was shopping for a mid-price router now I would look at something like an Asus RT-AC68.

i signed up to superloop lastnight but only just realised i never received any confirmation in my email. Did anyone else get a confirmation email once they registered to a plan?

    • +1

      when is your connection date?

      • i scheduled it for early next month

        • +3

that's your answer. you will get the email early next month.

    • Check spam.

I must admit after promoting this deal and praising these guys, it's all gone bad for me.

My flawless HFC through ABB has turned into Superloop packet loss misery - some times during the day (working from home) getting over 25% packet loss to 1.1.1.1. Websites cease to function at that level of packet loss.

Their support takes forever to get through to, and the teenagers that answer the phone don't seem to be able to do much. You have to chase them - apparently they wanted some ping test results prior to escalating back to NBN, but I had to call them to find out my case was stalled because of this - no communications, no emails, I've had to call them every time.

I've worked in IT long enough to know things go wrong and the NBN is far from faultless, but we're now into the third business day since I reported severe packet loss, and still waiting for anything meaningful from them.

Very disappointed. I will give them until the end of the week, then will change RSPs.

My installation was complete thursday last week. Since then, I have been on the phone 1 to 2 hours a day to superloop trying to fix the 0.10Mbps speed.

NBNco has been back to repair the problem but its superloop vs NBNco pushing the blame to each other.

      Very frustrating.

      • I feel I will end up in the same blame game here too.

        • I've cancelled my plan with SL. Was getting about 80kbps of down speed. After 3 NBN visits and countless hours on the phone of "can you reset your NBN box and try speedtest again", I gave up and went back to 4G.

    • I was with Superloop HFC with heaps of last-mile connectivity issues requiring NBN out to fix local HFC infrastructure.

I reported to Superloop repeatedly. Each time they had hold times in excess of 45 minutes, and once I finally got through they'd repeatedly promise a ticket would be lodged with NBN and investigated. Then days later I would get a text message saying NBN had investigated and complaint was closed - no action taken.

After months of unstable HFC connections, I gave up dealing with Superloop, and ported to ABB.

ABB lodged tickets and set up ping logging, pressing NBN to actually do something. Before too long I had NBN out replacing my lead-in (NBN tech showed me a date tag showing the HFC lead-in was 30 years old, and they had verified the HFC signal was leaking from the lead-in so the cable was damaged). It still took NBN at least three visits to finally get the job done right. (When they replaced the lead-in they didn't terminate it correctly).

Superloop has a great network when your end connection is stable, but as soon as you have issues you're on your own. It takes ABB to hold NBN accountable.

I couldn't imagine the issues ever being fixed while I was with Superloop. I remain with ABB for HFC and have Superloop on a FTTB service. Both RSPs are generally great for network performance but for last-mile issues then you really have to be with ABB.

    • Could you please update us on how it was dealing with SL. Is your issue sorted? I'm currently with Telstra and having lot of issues and was thinking of switching over to SL. Do you still recommend SL? or ABB?

      BTW, I'm on HFC.

  • I ported to Superloop from Aussie Broadband - took around 5 - 10 minutes. Easy process didn't have to re-configure anything or reset the NCD/router, it switched over seamlessly from one provider to another. Only realised when i received an SMS from Superloop, no downtime at all.

Speeds are similar to Aussie Broadband, can't really tell any difference. So far so good, encountered no issues yet.

    Network type is FTTC.

  • Does the referral code stack with the discounted price for 6 months?

    • No

      • thanks mate

  • Just signed up to SL, plan to be activated at the end of my ABB billing period.

    Hopefully no trouble!

  • Does the code only provides a capped service? Signed up for the 100/40 but it shows I am not on unlimited. It gives me 500Gb monthly allowance.

    • You must have mistakenly signed up for 500 GB service. Try calling them and ask them to change to unlimited. Usually $10 extra I think.

      • Currently on hold with them at the moment. I'm pretty sure I selected the unlimited plan and the rep also mentioned there is no way on the site that it ever mentions an option for the capped plan. For the 100/40 the only option available says unlimited. He said someone also called in yesterday for the same issue and he's thinking it might be a glitch on the system.

      • +1

All sorted, he said it most likely a glitch on their system as they used to offer the capped service like a couple of weeks ago and they removed it from their website and is no longer offered.

The unlimited plan is $14 more so I'm not sure if using the code puts new subs to that capped service.

        • +1

          Good to hear.

  • Their service is so bad! I am out of internet for the last couple of hours and I don't know how do I get my work done. No response from CS as always.

  • Just signed over to 1000/50 and switched over in 5 mins from belong 50/25. Speed test at 330 though wifi on iPhone… lol

  • Thanks for the deal Op, just here to comment and provide info:
    - I'm from knox area, victoria
    - churned from Tangerine
    - HFC connection
    - took just 5 ~ 10mins
    - set my moden to dynamic IP
    - its 1am now, clocking at 25.Xmbp down, 4.5Xmbp up
    - I got lucky?

  • When you sign up for a new service, does the connection with the previous provider gets terminated automatically for billing purpose? OR do you need to manually request them to disconnect? If so, can they disconnect immediately or is there any minimum notice period generally?

    • I had to give Exetel 30 days notice - so requested the connection date 30 days in advance then notified Exetel.

      • Thanks. I am with Mate.. they don't need any notice but they charge up to when the current cycle ends, so it makes sense to move on the last day of the current bill cycle.

  • +1

Just ported over, took 10 minutes from ABB. Speed is the same as before. Looking good!

    • 100% to any ABB customer. Stop copping it dry with the price increases, churn over to Superloop.

  • +1

Can a new user still use a referral link and still sign up using the listed promo code?

    How would that work?

  • I had signed up for superloop 2 weeks back for dec 12th, its a new property with no nbn ( I assume they should be getting an appointment by now). No email communication from them. I'm starting to worry they will ever connect me to nbn. Their customer care no seems to I'm calling outside hours, even though call say Sunday 10am to 6pm. Should I try another provider? can I sign up for 2 providers

    • +1

I have switched from them last week and couldn't be happier.

  • +1

Signed to SL 2 weeks ago and havent heard a thing , im still on my old provider which i want to leave. Started to call them but was 15th in the queue. whats the go SL!?

  • Just sign up 50mbps, Melbourne Wheelers Hill, take 10 mins transfer, speed test 52mbps at 9pm at night, wow I never use 50m plan can go beyond 50….amazing

  • +1

Had an 8 hour outage yesterday. Spent 2.5 hours waiting on hold to get through to customer support. In which time, the issue had been miraculously fixed by NBNco.
    Unacceptable customer service.
Will be moving back to Aussie in the near future (will try to wait for 3 months to be up, to get “new customer” bonuses, but it may not be worth my while to wait if this is any indication).

  • Non-existent support. Switched from ABB and immediately experienced bad drop outs. 2 days later I am yet to receive a reply from their support team or anything other than an auto-reply on the email.

So far feels like a throw-away ISP - if there’s any serious fault switching to someone who cares is going to be needed. At least NBN makes that straightforward.

    • 50Mbps in peak times on a 250Mbps plan. Pretty lousy.

  • I just signed up to switch over from ABB to Superloop. I received an SMS immediately saying "my order has been raised with NBN. We will notify you as the order progresses". It has been 3 or so of hours now and I have heard nothing. I read a few other people have had there service transferred in minutes - just wondering if my experience is pretty typical - maybe it is a weekend thing?

    • seems i'm in the boat with ya, rx2 - i signed up at 230pm AEDT and same SMS received. I wondering if being w/e anything would happen, so i rang about 5pm to see what was occuring - the guy told me "there is an HFC NBN issue, so it might take longer, but it will happen today" I told him my ABB HFC is still cranking along merrily throughout, but he said it was a broader network problem, so…. yeah. Will see i guess.

    • got some mails thru at 1130pm saying it was all ready to go… was not really sure how quickly everything would come up, but when it showed no connection after 20mins I became impatient and began meddling, from NTD, to router/firewall, etc…. then, typically, about an hour later having been sure none of my changes should have been relevant, everything came to life. I reverted all my changes, and now running sweet across all my devices. Speedtest shows 102 down and 39 up, which i'd expect for this time of night.
Hope yours is all good too….

  • Currently on Telstra 100/40Mbps unlimited for $90p/m

But, a few weeks ago my upload speed dropped to 1-1.2Mbps, a far cry from 40Mbps.

I have been trying to get it fixed ever since…horrible service :(

So I am looking to swap to someone else. I looked at this offer but noticed it doesn't include a router :(

    Is this correct?

I currently have a Telstra one with some 4g ability for emergencies. Would I have to give that back if I swapped over to someone else? Then what?

    Cheers

    PJ

  • Moved over from AussieBB 100/40 $109.95 to superloop $83.95 100/40. Goodbye AussieBB. Thanks OP

  • Super loop seemed to have change Referral Codes.

When we add our referrer into the random cue near the top my code now shows XXXXXX&plan=1507

Why in the world does Superloop add this &plan=1507 or do we only add the XXXXXX when adding to the referral random link?

  • I'm currently with Belong on their starter plan and I'm happy with their service overall. I'm getting pings in the low to mid teens. Am I likely to see an improvement in my pings with Superloop or ABB? signed. Tragic. Gamer. I'm in Sydney Inner West on HFC if that makes any difference.

  • hi OP, the code is invalid

    • The code is not required, and the offer is valid until 31 January. They may have pulled it early, see if others have the same issue…\

Edit: I have just confirmed, the prices are already shown discounted. Code not required. Stack with a referral code to help a fellow OzBargainer from the links above.

      • I just signed up and went directly from the website. The code is automatically applied to the order when clicking through their website.

    Hey Everyone,

Just a reminder that these offers ends on the 31st of Jan 2021 - Get in quick as this offer is only around for the next 19 days!

    • Hi Craig
For new users does this come with a free modem?

      • Hi Savvy,

Not at this stage but we do have a great router selection, or you can BYO if you choose, we dont lock any routers out. They just need to Support Dynamic IP (IPoE)

    • I was with Superloop but churned another ISP 2 months. If I re-join Superloop now can I still enjoy the discount?
How long it takes before Superloop considering I am a 'new' customer?

      Thank you.

  • Thanks Op, signed up to 50/20. Used your referral link but not sure it applied as there was no referral code shown on the relevant screen.

    • It didn't, sadly, but I appreciate the thought. I've noticed that the referral links from OzB don't work some of the time.

      • At the moment we are applying the SLCXMAS20 promo by default when you signup for an eligible plan.

You can only have 1 promo at a time and since our referral program is a promotional offer the system should apply the highest value unless you remove the promo code and put the referral code in the relevant field.

        • +1

If you manually enter the referral code it works. Provides the referral bonus to the referrer and the person signing up gets the better discount through the code above. Not sure why you would strip it - we are referring customers to you - whether they take up the offer or not it shoudn't matter.

        • Just to confirm, if I sign up using a referral link, and also apply the SLCXMAS20 code, do I get both discounts? Or if I manually enter the referral code, does that mean I lose out on the SLCXMAS20 discount?

          • @concento: You only get the discount from the deal - but your fellow OzB referrer gets their benefit. They don't stack.

            • @smartinet: Thanks. So if I manually input the referral code as you said, wouldn't that override the $20 promo code SLCXMAS20 and mean I only get the $10 referral discount?

              • @concento: No, the promo code and referral field are two separate fields. You will get the price that comes through the promo.

  • I'm missing the sweet latency of Superloop, but the 3TB cap on 1000/50 is killing me.

If it was $115 for 3TB I'd probably churn.

    • +1

Take a look at Launtel - $4.60 per day (approx $138 per month) for unlimited 1000/50, and you can switch speed down to a cheaper plan on a day by day basis, and pause it while you are away.

  • Thanks OP, another happy customer here!

I just churned across from Launtel HFC to Superloop and it was up and running within 15min!

Upgraded from 25/5 on Launtel @ $73.61 to 50/20 on Superloop for only $58.95! Also getting over 52mbps down and 18mbps up.

Will probably go down to 25/5 after the 6 months introductory price.

  • +1

Anyone having issues signing up? I got stuck at the sign-up page, the "Continue" button is blanked out. =S

EDIT: nvm, just invalid username lol

  • Is a returning customer after 6 months still entitled to use the code?

    • They don’t specify a timeframe but over 6 months and I think they consider you “new” again.

  • +1

Thanks for the all the referrals guys - now the OzB referral links are actually working! Appreciate you helping out a fellow OzBargainer.

Looks like a hard end on this deal on January 31, so only a couple of days left to benefit.

My eyes will be peeled for a new deal if it hits.

  • switched over from tangerine in 5 mins. Awesome!

  • Switched over in 5 minutes as well, FTTP. Was getting major packetloss during peak time for a couple hours last night. Never saw any packetoss with ABB. I guess I'm stuck with them for a month.

    • +1

Do an isolation test (direct Ethernet to NTD) and run a ping test. Send it to them with date and time of packet loss. If you get someone decent in their support team they should log it with NBN. Had the same problem but eventually it was solved. Now only get very minor packet loss, similar to ABB.

Their support is woeful so get ahead of the game by doing the above in advance of contacting them.

  • Placed the order to connect about 40 mins ago. On HFC, modem shows online but unable to get IP allocated. Superloop portal shows IP address unavailable. Haven’t received any sms. Anyone else got idea what could be wrong? Obviously outside support hours to can’t contact them. Thanks

    • update: took couple of hours for SL to setup from their side.

  • I wish they bring this offer back.

  • Would definitely avoid Superloop after the experience we had with them (dropouts and long wait times trying to reach someone in their customer service area.) Ended up taking them to the TIO.
