Buying directly from Apple is $20 more. You get 24 months local warranty and don’t have to deal with Kogan. You’d be insane to buy from kogan

Regardless on your personal opinion on Kogan, a grey import costing almost as much local stock RRP is not a deal. Get local stock for less at JB-Hi-Fi if you have access to discounted gift cards

To be fair, this is the "old" stock that included the headphones and charger vs the new one that doesn't. Everything else you said is valid.

    • I'm pretty sure apple warranty is global?

Not all countries are 24 months. Australia had a somewhat unique legal ruling due to phones being sold on 24 month contracts and the ACCC "sued" and the courts found that it was a reasonable for telcos to warrant the phone for the duration of the contract.

Having said that they don't seem to have updated it for the 36 month contracts that started coming out since sometime last year…

$20 off for a grey import? Definitely not a bargain.

Don’t take it personally mate. It’s an option for those purely looking at the $$$ but you’d really want to hope you didn’t have to deal with Kogan for after sales service.

Please don’t take the negs personally. Thanks for trying to share a deal but objectively it doesn’t make any sense to purchase an import product from a controversial retailer to save $20. Sorry if I came off as really negative. I hope this doesn’t off put you from posting future deals.

I'm with you OP. People should really consider that if the deal doesn't appeal to them they should move on, it's like they think people care about their opinion…
I also reconsider posting deals now as I cant be bothered with entitled people complaining…especially when they have been here 10 years and posted 10 deals…what a valuable contribution to the community!
Thanks for sharing OP, doesn't appeal to me, nor have I ever bought off Kogan…however I appreciate you sharing. So thank-you :)

It’s not about wether it appeals or not. An import product is inferior to local stock. Shorter warranty period, less support and no ACL to cover you.
I’ve negged the deal to draw potential buyers to this fact.

      • It is great to have people sharing their thoughts and past experience on the comment section so for those who considered getting the deal can take on those feedbacks.

Do the Vodafone deal. I cancelled 1 day after signing up advising of no signal and was credited the full months plan fee. I’m now paying it off 15.24 per month.

I have not made warranty claim from Kogan so can’t comment on that. However my Kogan purchases and after sales have been more positive than my experiences with the Goodguys and Officeworks (both direct online and via Ebay). For example when Kogan sent grey import products without the Aust power cables, I contacted Kogan and got them sent out without fuss. Their shipping were usually on time. Goodguys and OW have the habit of cancelling orders several days later without any explanation, so wasted time and the discount vouchers which expired.

  • Not worth it.

  • Grey import and if you have a problem Kogan warranties are a nightmare.
