AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 2060 Super / ASUS B550 Wi-Fi Board / 16GB DDR4 / 500GB Nvme $1260 + Delivery @ Virco Computer

710

Although they've run out of the base 2070 I think the 2060 Super version is still very good value if you need a PC now.

Not sure any further upgrades are worthwhile but they do have some branded 2070 Super / 5700XT versions with 750w versions of the same PSU for +$185-235.

I checked a metro Melbourne postcode and found $30 delivery.

specs as below:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 Core Socket AM4 3.6GHz CPU Processor
  • CPU COOLING: Wraith Stealth Cooler
  • MAINBOARD: ASUS PRIME B550M-A WIFI AM4 Micro-ATX Motherboard

  • I don't need a PC now but I am on a look out to upgrade for i7 4770 and getting ready for Cyberpunk 2077. Should I wait for a few more weeks for better deals?

    • +8

      Yes. Black Friday

    • +1

I'm incline to say yes with new CPU and gpu next month and Black Friday, but there's too much demand atm so there's no guarantee

    • +2

How good is your power supply and what resolution/frequency do you game at?

If using a regular 1920x1080 monitor @60hz you probably only need a graphics card upgrade if you want a higher detail level, your CPU will probably be ok. An NVIDIA 1660 Super on special around the low $300s would probably do a great job.

If you want to go to 2560x1440 then 5700xt or 2070 super and the infrastructure to support it is probably a better call, at a price. I'd wait if looking to game at higher resolutions and not in a hurry

      • I currently have a HP SFF case so I can only "upgrade" to to a video card which is low profile. The fastest low profile card is 1650 which isn't very fast.

    • If you don't want to wait for too long get a used rx 5700 (available for around $450) and flash 5700xt bios.

      • 5700xt cards also go for 450 used if you're quick enough to jump on them

Is this enough for 1080p gaming on high on most recent games? Also can it comfortably run VM machines? (want to play around on linux)

  • So my xbox has shit itself - I have no idea how long it will take for me to potentially get a hold of a new one (because buying a replacement current version seems daft). Should I buy one of these instead - would it handle upgrading to a 3080 when they are readily available down the track? I was tossing up switching to PC in any event.

I don't really know that much about computers.

    • +3

Wait for xbox series x, computers while it's multi-functional, not for everyone if your goal is just to play games.

    • +4

Telstra has a good 24 month subscription deal ($46 per month; min cost $1104) that gives you an Xbox series X (owned at end of contract) and access to Xbox Game Pass ultimate. Might be a cheap way to get Xbox, given it already cost $750 without game pass.

I thinking about this or getting a PC.. decisions.

    • +3

Yep you could definitely use this to upgrade to a 3080 down the line no worries at all.

    • -3

This PSU is not recommended especially if you want to OC.

      3080 can draw 375W OC
3600 can draw up to 70W
So that's already 445W and this PSU could probably only provides you 550W of stable power supply, so cutting it very close

  • +1

Well, I wish you guys started the deal a week earlier. I literally just ordered all my parts yesterday.

    • I wish you built a time machine, because I need one as well.

      • I hear you.

  • Great specs and price.

  • +8

Shouldn’t this be cheaper for the 2060 super as the 2070 was offered for the same price before ?

    • +2

I agree and the 2070 was a MSI whereas this is Galax.

    • I agree aswell

    • The 2070 was 1260 and the 2060 Super was 1300 and now 1260. What do you mean?

      • Just google price of 2070 and 2060 super. Difference of $100+

  • Would this be good for running the MS Flight Simulator, or should I be looking To upgrading further?

    • +1

Yes this would do fine if you're looking at 1080p or 1440p. Further down the track a GPU upgrade certainly would improve things.

      • What framerate

        • +2

          34-40 @ 1080p, 28-21 @ 1440p according to benchmarks. RTX 2080 Ti 11GB would get you 40-47 and 36-44 for the same so it's not a massive difference.

  • Will this be able to run Forza and cyberpunk 2077

    • +1

      Depending on resolution and settings

    • +2

this will handle forza no problem at 1080p and maybe 1440p at 60fps but who knows about cyberpunk, it'll be able to play it for sure though

  • +1

This is serious bang for buck. I got most my parts in recent eBay 20% off and Amazon Prime Day sales but still struggling to beat this price.

  • Is there a warranty on this?

    • They said 1 year Return to Base

  • -4

    AMD lol.

    • +2

      Better than a Zhaoxin KaiXian.

  • +1

Really good deal and have been looking at purchasing a new PC - but what scares me is the lack of info on the website and no reviews. Not sure if i bite the bullet or not? OR if I wait it out for Black Friday pre-built deals as I'm in no rush

    • Appanrently they've been doing this for 20 years, and assuming this is theirs, that might be true

Here's their facebook and they said in the other thread that they're going to add their terms and conditions iirc by tomorrow

      • They're Virco not Vertico.

        Try this one. https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View?abn=91621630171

        • My bad. No wonder why I was confused by their location.

It's also because they said this: we have been in the business for the last 20 years. Same location - Capitol Sqaure. We know what we are doing, and please feel safe to purchase with us.

          • @HaveANiceDay: The only other two one in Sydney 2000 is

            https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View?abn=45632317563

There's also this which might be related, but based in post code 2099

            https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View?abn=65852678461

OP could have posted his ABN at any point. If any of the ABNs I listed are right, OP might have run similar businesses in the past but if so I'd be asking why he started a new one.

Hopefully all is above board and all who put down money get their orders.

            • @syousef: Yeah. I really hope so too.

            • @syousef: Ah yeah,

Virco was founded in 2017 at Capitol Square Haymarket Sydney, its relatively new business but we are in the IT field for the last two decades with previous trading name.

            • +1

@syousef: They previously operated as Mobilewiz who were at Shop 10, Town Hall Square, 464-480 Kent St 2000. How do I know this? I did a whois on their domain.

They've had a shop in Technocity for years so I think they're credible.

              • @Clear: I don't think they're completely dodgy but in the IT business selling and/or fixing mobile phones is a whole different skill set to building PCs. I wish him and everyone who bought from him all the best. Best thing we can have in the PC market is a thriving industry with lots of competition. Let's see how it plays out.

                • +1

@syousef: This is true but you'll find many people in the industry are multiskilled and their builds on their Facebook don't look so bad.

              • @Clear: Mobilewiz business registration started in 2066t. Main business location was listed as NSW 2066. But yeah Truelocal lists the address you referenced. OP could end the speculation and web searches at any point.

                • @syousef: I suspect it's a case of the owner has 20+ years of experience in the industry and has probably worked a few jobs and moved shops around as many do in cities due to rent and so forth. It's also possible ABNs and other stuff can be registered to homes instead of business addresses. ASIC searches would reveal such anyway.

  • +1

Hrmmmm i like that case, now to see if i can fit a bigboi 3080 in it

    • Especially with a white mechanical keyboard

  • Looked like a strong deal. Hopefully you have another one soon.

  • Will you guys have more stock
