    • You can watch NBA on League Pass.

      • Yeah, but it's another subscription

    • The way the ratings are going you may be the only one watching it.

      • Not if you are a Lakers fan :)

  • The blue colour is back in stock now. But delivery date isn't until late November.

    • But delivery date isn't until late November.

      From where you saw that?

From my Smart TV I can use optical output to home cinema to get surround this one can't, right? Unless HDMI into surround receiver.

BTW, the Netflix bundle back in stock.

      • When you place an order an ETA comes up for the selected unit in the cart. The other 2 colours have a date of around launch (15th October) but the blue isn't until about 25th November from memory. The blue was sold out for a while so I would assume this is the 2nd batch date.

  • Appears it has Bluetooth. Anyone know if this can connect to a Bluetooth speaker or the Bluetooth just for the remote?

    • Should be able to connect to Bluetooth speakers / headphones too.

      • Hope so. Cheers

    • +2

I have mine and have successfully used Bluetooth headphones without major audio delay issues.

  • White was available last night

  • Does 15% Google Store credit apply to Pixel phones?
    If yes then this will effectively make Pixel 5 + Chromecast with GoogleTV= $999*0.85 + $99 = $948.15

    • +1

It's "15% Google Store credit when you pre-order a Chromecast with Google TV from Google Store Australia." So you will get $14.85 Google Store credit as the title says. There isn't a deal to get 15% Google Store credit when purchasing a Pixel 4a / 5.

      • Thanks BeerCrisp, got too excited - I read it quick as "You get a 15% discount for future purchases on Google Store if you preorder the new Chromecast".

  • Netflix bundle all sold out, just thinking to get this since I have Netflix anyway.

    • The Netflix bundle would be better for you seeing as you subscribe to them. That way you get the Device for $44.05.
Just keep an eye on the Deal. Last batch also sold out for a week then came back for another week and now sold out again. My guess more will appear in a weeks time. Just check Daily.

      • But only 2 days left.

        • 2 days left……..mmmmmm, wonder where OP found that info. On the link the Terms say:
Eligible Chromecast with Google TV purchases on the Google Store between 1 October 2020 4:15am AEST and 31 December 2021 11:59pm AEST

          • @Borg: Description says "Offer valid starting on 1/10/2020 12am AEST through 15/10/2020 at 11:59pm AEDT." Also clearly is only for anyone who pre-orders, so yes, expires tomorrow. Google store credit is valid until 31 October 2021 at 11:59pm.

            • @BeerCrisp: Yeap, I saw that in the OP description however was trying to find that on "Googles Site (T&C or the likes)" hence the "wonder".
I am probably just missing it . Same desc on Googles site for the Netflix Offer as well.

              • @Borg: Go to this page, scroll down to the "Get 15% Google Store credit when you pre-order a Chromecast with Google TV" and click "Terms Apply". It outlines everything you need to know in there. Which OP has actually just pasted into the deal description.

                • @BeerCrisp: Ah ha, yes, I see it there for the 15% off deal. Not seeing it for the Netflix one which is what I was looking at as @superflower noted: Netflix bundle all sold. I was replying to that comment.

                  • @Borg: Just chat with Google support, they said the Netflix bundle last until 31 Dec 2021, yes 2021

                    https://store.google.com/au/config/chromecast_google_tv_netf…

                    • @superforever: You should be all good so. Just a matter of them coming back into stock so that you can order one :-). I already ordered myself last week,
To be honest most of our past few comments probably belongs on the Chromecast/Netflix deal. Didn't want to be seeing to be hijacking this 15% off post :-O

  • All in stock now.

    • Not the one with Netflix.

      • Correct. There is another thread for that.

  • +2

Received a notification mine was shipped earlier today, should be here tomorrow or Friday!

    • What colour and when did you order , I assume DHL?

      • +1

White, ordered 5th of October, in the second wave after they were initially out of stock. Its shipped with Star Track Express from Sydney.

        • I ordered 1st October early morning and same delivery as you.

  • Netflix bundle didn't say out of stock now but couldn't add to cart.

  • Mine arrived today (white, just the device, metro vic). Was hoping for more personalisation and "continue watching". Only has like 3 in there when have like 12 im watching in Netflix and a few in Stan and prime.

interface is basic, not really worth it in my opinion yet vs a chrome cast, but potential to be. e.g. if starts to show more categories on homepage with more titles, if can be more seamless and not click the title, click play, opens in Netflix, then click play again, incorporate trailers etc.

Minor, but not a fan of the aaa batteries vs Apple TV recharge remote.

    my half a cent!

  • +1

Mine arrived today as well and I have a different "review".

I'm enjoying it so far. I've set-up TV and Soundbar to be controller by the Google remote. It couldn't be easier. I don't need the TV or soundbar remotes anymore.

I was able to install Hulu, which was my only concern, and everything is working perfectly using VPN.

I've linked Netflix, Youtube, Amazon, Hulu, and if I say the name of a movie it will show me the summary, trailer, and where can I watch it. Then, the related titles based on my watching list, including all the services linked. The Home screen has a list of "top picks for you" including Amazon, Netflix, Hulu… Then I click and there is a summary (rating, cast, rotten tomatoes score) and a button "Prime Video Watch NOW". If I click, it starts playing on Amazon right away, or I might have to select "Play" one more time depending on the streaming service. Amazon is annoyingly asking "Who is watching?" but I believe there is something I should do to avoid this, but I haven't checked yet.

I have never had a rechargeable remote and don't know how long those batteries last for, but I don't think replacing AAA batteries twice a year is a big issue.

There are some issues related to the database (movies or tv shows that are listed because I have an Amazon Prime account, but I can't watch because my AU Prime membership can't show US content). I still must chech what's the best way of doing that.

Still playing around, should have a better idea in the next days…

    • Hey mate, out of interest what soundbar did you get?
Picked up a Yamaha YAS-109 mainly as I wanted a basic one for tv/movies that had a HDMI in & out. Works well with the GTV remote powering it all on (or tv remote if watching tv).

I realized you need GTVV -> Soundbar -> TV for the HDMI ARC to work for both sources. In theory even with an older telly, with the GTV as source it should be able to do Dolby ATMOS etc as long as the content is broadcast as such (perhaps need Netflix Ultra HD subscription?). Anyway it's a decent soundbar for the price, kind of think i should have spent a bit more now as the sound is still nothing like my speakers but but better than tv obviously. The Samsung Series 7 HW-Q70R Soundbar with Dolby Atmos (and a sub) looks good and has a hdmi in / out. A lot of them only have optical.

      Cheers,

      • I have the YAS-105 and I will probably be keeping it for now… I might reconsider depending on the performance in the new place (moving in the next weeks). One of the reasons I am keeping it for now is that some other soundbars I checked don't seem to be as loud or have enough bass. I currently keep around 50% of the volume for action movies. I like the sound, I just wanted to add extra (wireless) speakers next to the sofa to create a more immersive experience, but I have to check how to do that in the new place, if an option at all. I don't have (and don't want) an external subwoofer as bass is good already.

It's connected using the optical cable as the only speakers (I don't use the LG-TV speakers because, if I do, I can't have the sync which allows me to turn the TV on using Chromecast, or Google assistant).

*To be clear, I've had this soundbar since 2016.

  • Mine is going not too bad, how has everyone gone connecting to 5GHz Wi-Fi? For some reason my chromecast just doesn't see my 5GHz. Have tried everything possible to get it working. Annoying as I need it to direct play my 4K remuxes.

    • Change your channel to 36 or around that.

      • Yep, tried every channel, chromecast sees it momentarily each time I change the channel but then disappears. Try manually typing in the SSID and just searches but never finds it. Pretty frustrating.

        • I had the same issue and managed to get it working after changing the channel. Weird how that didn't work for you. I'm a bit disappointed with the unit overall; I've never had this issue with any other device, and changing the channel has meant a slower connection across all my devices. Did you get a "this chromecast was manufactured for a different country and may not be compatible with your wifi network" error too?

  • Struggling to log-in on Youtube using any of my accounts. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the app but still… I can play from my phone to Chromecast (same network), but on TV it's not logged in.

I click add account, I click my already linked Google account and it just goes back to the main Youtube screen (not logged-in).

    • Sounds like one you need to pop over to a Support Forum (think Whirlpool forums ot the likes) and ask about. This thread is about the Chromecast with Google TV deal :-).

      • Just complementing my brief feedback about a new product, but I agree this might not be the best place for this discussion. Problem solved anyway.

I pre-ordered the Netflix bundle and it says it won't be delivered until 17-18 November!!

But if you order the normal one the delivery date is 2-3 days.

No one at google is able to explain why. Surely it's the same device?

Does anyone else have the Netflix Bundle delivered yet? Any idea what's going on?

    Cheers!

  • Can these aussie dollor credit be used to pay for Netflix Turkey via VPN?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/566367

    • I have heard and read somewhere….no.

      • Yeh I assumed not. These are Aussie dollar credits after all

  • For those who already have Google TV, have a look at reelgood.com, it's a great app to put all the streaming services together. Google TV already does something like that, but Reelgood is better (and free). You can easily track series.

*I always use Chromecast with Google TV through an US VPN. My main Google TV account is from India (the same I use to get Youtube Premium), and I have a second US account which I use to install apps that are only available in the US. You might have to use a US Google account to install Reelgood directly from the Play Store (or you can send the APK and install, but that requires enabling development mode).

    • As "This item is not available in your country". Whats the gain if one only uses Oz subscriptions or ad ons?

      • I thought Reelgood was available in Oz

        https://reelgood.com/origin/australia

But I see now that only US and UK are listed on the app.

Therefore, the app might not be very good as it will suggest US Netflix titles that might not be available in Oz Netflix.

  • Installed mine. Heaps of issues.

Remote lags and then kind of catches up as if there is a button stuck. Doesn't happen all of the time but super annoying.

Bluetooth headphones issue as well. Tried it with netflix. It is as if it interferes with the network as the video hardly loads but worse the audio is many seconds out. Disconnect the headphones and the audio and videos load fine although I think netflix has an av sync issue a bit. Never seen that before.

    Happens with all streaming apps.

Wonder if it could be the cabinet the TV is in? May try a hdmi extension cable or something.

    Anyone else seen this?

  • Anyone seen there $15 credit yet?

    • nothing yet.

      • just got my $29.70 credit. Shame it can't be used for subscriptions!

  • Just got the email notification for $14.95 store credit. Expires in Oct-21

    • Same. I didn't know Google store credit is different to Google Play store credit.

    • Why did I get only $14.85?

      • You should have only received $14.85, I assume $14.95 was a typo.

        • I know… My reply was supposed to make fun of the 0.10 difference. It didn't go as expected… ;)

  • Did someone say you can cast your pc games to the Chromecast?
Got a 5m hdmi to the tv, handy if dont need that?
