The pool might be easy to setup but the legally required fence is not

    • -1

Is a fence required on an inflatable pool though, is there a height limit or when does it kick in?

      ETA Google is my friend

For Vic, but check your local Council. Suspect the same. It's to prevent any kids going in without supervision. You only need 300mm to drown. So many horror stories.

It's to prevent any kids going in without supervision.

How is a fence going to stop them? They'll just open the gate.

          • +2

@jv: Live by your own rules JV. You need a gate with a proper self closing latch at high level.

              @Melb69:

You need a gate with a proper self closing latch at high level.

Don't see how a latch will stop most kids from opening it.

              • @jv: It will stop the little ones. Maybe not a climbing 6 year old though..

          • +2

@jv: On the Sunshine Coast there was some official just rubber stamping all the pools without actually checking them (when built), then when you'd go to sell, they were all non-compliant. We had to do tons of work to our 3 year old pool fence to get it compliant to get cert for sale. Less then 3 meters from our pool fence was a canal that led to the ocean, with no fence, yet kids apparently would actively choose to climb a tree, Lara Croft to our fence, then proceed to drown in our pool instead of the canal, apparently.

Is a fence required on an inflatable pool though

        Yes.

Any pool with a depth greater than 30cm.

We've had to put a fence around our bathtub.

  • does it come with a fence?

  • Is it 3M in Circumference since its a round shaped pool?

    • -1

Yes it is a round-shaped pool

      • +1

That would make the radius about 48cm. I suspect the 3m is the diameter.

  • No filter with this pool either - so consider the need to drain it each time you use it. Rate of flow in Vic is 20L per minute. So roughly 2hrs to fill this pool at a 2400L capacity.

    • +1

I'm sure Archimedes would argue you need not fill it all the way up to the top.

  • Bigger and cheapper at big w

Bought from Kmart last year for $25.

    Currently these are $59 . https://www.kmart.com.au/product/bestway-fast-set/3178807

Interesting, details of the Bestway pump are given but none for this Intex version. Perhaps that could justify a price difference but I doubt it.

Edit: after checking some links posted below the pumps are basically the same.
As another ozbargain pointers out, this has no pump which makes this a terrible deal.
Why did folks plus vote this?

  • Is there a version that have a pool cover? Or is there somewhere to purchase one? TIA

    • Save yourself some bidding and buy one here:
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bestway-Pool-Cover-Blanket-3-05m…

All the brands are the same size and they fit.
If you are lucky, you might be able to find yourself one at BigW as that's where I bought one earlier in the year on clearance.

    • Yep BigW have had these to match these pool - $10 I think

  • How is this a sale?

    Kmart - $59
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/bestway-fast-set/3178807

    Target - $59
    https://www.target.com.au/p/h2ogo-1-ft-fast-set-pool/6374269…

    BigW - $59
    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/intex-10-foot-easy-set-pool/…

All the above comes with pumps too whilst yours does not.
    $69.50 is a joke
    $139 normally is a bigger joke….

  • I had one like this (probably all from the same factory). Leaked like hell, only able to use for a year. Was not careless with it.

    • +2

I've found the Intex ones excellent! Buy a storage box and dry out before storage and mine have lasted 2 years easy.

That said if you are considering one and have little ones PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE never leave them unattended EVER!

  • This is not a bargain - its only $59 at BigW - as if it was ever $139, dreamin buddy!

  • Definitely not a bargain. Kmart, big w and target is cheaper.

  • We got 1 full day of use out of our Bestway inflatable pool before the council came past and said I had till the end of the day to drain it or pay a fine because it's not fenced. Shit neighbour. Not even sure how they knew, must have looked over the fence.

Big waste of money. Also even 2 days was enough to damage the lawn under it, and the filter pump wasn't up to the task at all.
Mine isn't / wasn't even as deep as this one.
Anyone in Geelong want to try their luck: $20 and it's yours.
