Legit, just went off just then haha.
Isn't that like saying - don't buy a car because your tires might get slashed? Or don't cross the road because you might get hit by a car? It's true that these things might happen but the chances are astronomically low
anyone have any real life experience with these?
I see info about weatherproofing but not waterproofing. I need a battery operated one but it will be exposed to rain.I've been using one since May and love the thing. I was considering hard wiring it, but the battery is still going strong from the first charge.
It starts recording as soon as somebody opens our front gate and the quality is excellent. Alerts on my phone and smart watch display a good quality thumbnail of the person's face.
Ours is at our front door under the verandah, so can't comment on how waterproof it would be in more exposed environments.
I'd have to totally agree with this comment.
I bought it last week from JB at this price (super fast shipping btw) and its been rock solid since. The software and quality of the hardware is superb… I really didn't think it was going to be good given past experience with video doorbells.
On top of that, all local recording and no cloud business.
Only thing is it doesn't have Homekit support (yet? rumours?) but their app is pretty great.
Any issues with audio delay when talking with the intercom?
@mrderrickc: Yes want to know this as well because the Ring doorbell is shocking.
@nightelves: I took the plunge in the end, it arrived today and has been installed. Tomorrow I will test the intercom to see how it is.
So far compared to my Ring 2 (gen 1) it has noticeably better image quality in both day and night. I had the Chime Pro and the homebase is so much louder.
Load times in the app seem to be faster with the Eufy also, was always hit or miss with Ring. Some annoyances (compared to ring) that could be fixed with app updates:
- Can't set different notifications for users, all users must have same notification settings (motion and ring).
- Doesn't have a do not disturb mode / time period.@nightelves: Tested the intercom and there is about a 1-2 second delay in audio when the phone is connected to the same wifi network. Can still hold a conversation.
@mrderrickc: Thanks I might give it a try as well. The Ring doorbell is absolute rubbish.
Been using it for the last week, it's pretty solid. Not sure about weatherproof/waterproof.
I’ve had one for about 4 months and it’s out in the weather - it’s worked just fine - video is a bit smeary when water is running across the lens, but otherwise all good. Very happy with it. Chewed through its battery for the first few days but has lasted ages since - they seem to patch the firmware regularly.
I wouldn't worry about the rain too much since the USB cover is rock solid. What I would worry about is it being in direct sunlight. The Aussie summer sign is gonna melt the insides.
thanks for the feedback. got one.
I'm about to buy this. But in terms of weather/water proof - I have a swann motion sensor outside to all sorts of weather. It's claimed to be weather proof but I'm skeptical. I put the plastic casing from the packaging and taped it over the top to prevent water splashing on top. Working strong for 3 years.
Do we really need 2K for a doorbell camera? Can this be used as a Zoom meeting camera I was wondering? LOL
Sure. If you don't mind standing outside your front door during the meeting.
The 2k gives you the flexibility to digitally zoom in on the images. You can read the logos on the delivery guy’s jacket or his plates etc. I’ve found it useful.
I'm tempted to replace my Ring with this one but I've only got a Homebase 2 with their security camera set.
You can get the doorbell add-on from the good guys commercial for $207+$8 (shipping) if you are a member.
Or this…use PARTY21 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/392847431277
mine faces out the street so seems to trigger alot - it runs out of battery in 3 weeks. anyone else in the same boat?
Initially it drained really fast, but I haven’t charged it in months. Are you running the latest firmware? The other thing will likely be the range from the homebase. Mine’s probably within 5m (but two brick walls).
Read the manual. You need to setup activity zone and reduce sensitivity
I'm in! Thanks for everyone's comments.
For me I think $300 For doorbell still expensive?
Thanks OP. Got one and something else to get the $50 cashback for over $500 spend with CBA.
What’s this offer? Is it targeted? Can’t see it in my offers tab :(
Possibly targeted- some people have $100 cashback as well
This is $290 on the good guys commercial.
thanks - just ordered one
Does this work with Synology Surveillance Station? Or does it only record to the home base
