[eBay Plus] Nvidia Shield TV Pro (2019) $335.34 Delivered @ SydneyTec eBay

140
PARTY21

Original Coupon Deal

So this is a place that has price jacked their shield pro, but with the PARTY21 Discount it still brings it to below the cheapest price available currently at $335.35 delivered.

It's the 2019 (2020 AUS) version, which is nice and snappy. I'm still kicking myself for missing the $315 version that was a few days ago!

About the price jacking too, I mean c'mon look at this ebay. This retailer is selling the pro at $424. This is well above the recommended retail price. This happens all the time, and the ACCC should have put a stop to this kind of thing. It's ridiculous.

Anyway, good deal here!

  • I think that $315 deal is the normal price on the Good Guys Commercial (so you should still be able to get it)

    • It's disappeared off the website from what I can see

      • Was going to say it's been removed in the past two hours.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Why is it so difficult for all to start from RRP? Offer the best % off from there. The bigger the % off the bigger the discount.

Right now any % off means nothing if the starting price is jacked.

RRP and % off are meaningless to me personally. I just care about the final price.

I just care about the final price.

But thats the problem with jacked up price and fake % off discounts.

How easy is it to see the bigger the % off the bigger the discount if everyone start from rrp?

Us here in OzB know about the price jacking tactics that these shops employ. Sadly this is not the case for the general populace.

Shops aren't always jacking the starting price to offer you the best price. If that were the case many here won't care.

  • Can someone post a TL;DR of the use of this, besides as a streaming device/to play a handful of Android games?

I read the Kotaku review and it sounds like it's just a Chromecast with a good UI that can play some Android games - given the GeForce Now functionality isn't available in Australia.

So with Android boxes, you generally come.with caveats. Some certain quirks that don't work in your favour.

On paper it's an android box that you can play games and watch content on. This box works flawlessly compared to others on the market. I've had 3 miboxes and a Vodafone tv and they don't compare.

Mibox I always have issues with CEC, the box freezing and having to manually restart power, controller issues, sound connection issues.

None of this happens on the shield. It's a smooth experience and if you get the 2019 model it comes with have addition of air upscaling tech to make lower quality content look better.

The NVIDIA GeForce now is not available but, you can use a VPN to get it to work but the experience is still sub optimal since latency will be higher and it'd be riddled with connection issues. That's my experience but YMMV.

You can use it as a plex server, you can use it to stream your steam games to. You can play some android games and definitely great as an emulator.

It really ups the game on home viewing and provides the longevity against using the standard software that comes with smart TVs that may not get updated beyond a certain point.

TLdr: box good , smooth experience. Don't get if it doesn't fit your budget, can get similar experience on boxes 1/3 of the cost. It's a luxury item in comparison to other boxes

      • Let me add, that I have a vodfone box which is great apart from a few things:
        1. Won't read NTFS disk drives so I had to reformat FAT32 and my "big movies" have to play via a PC (Can't make HDD connected to router work, but an option)
        2. Won't do AI upscaling and I've got a 4K projector on the way and a stack of 1080p content
        3. Won't connect a bluetooth headset - bought an extra unit that will
        4. Doesn't have SPDIF out and I have old gear, so I have to get optical audio out from the TV and have it turned on as well as the projector

The Shield also has 2 x USB 3 ports (v vodfone one) so I can connect two disk drives. Again, you can do NAS to get around this, but I'm not there yet.

Vodafone will do 4K Netflix (haven't seen yet without my projector) and is a great little unit otherwise. My first one did die within a year but Vodafone gave me another.

I just bought the Shield for $330 v $80 for VTV, so 4 times the price primarily for the 4K upscale, which is supposed to be very good.

  • I'm keeping an eye out for a deal for this although the deals come and go so quickly (in a matter of hours). Looking at these to replace my ageing WD Live

    • See link below.

This would be a very worthy update to the wd.
