Wow, seemed like 20% eBay discounts were a thing of the past.

    • +70

It is, the discount will apply for like 2% of the total number of items on ebay.

      • +50

so generous saying 2% of items…

      • +43

and 99% of sellers will inflate prices by 15% which leaves you with 0.02% actually at 20% off usual pricing

        • +1

yes yes, the official ozbargain term for that practice is called Price Jacking

          • +1

@Homr: Bloody ebay keeps jacking off…. These 20% discounts are not proper discounts and it is just premature to call them true bargains.

        • Imagine negging with no evidence oh wait it's 2020 that's normal now

          • @King Steuart: Evidence is that the range is tiny and so it's not much use to anyone?

            • @Joe Sixpack: Can you show me the range? I'm all for negging the deal once we know what it is.

              • -1

@King Steuart: That's another reason to neg: you cannot actually get to see what's on sale

                • @Joe Sixpack: Meh, I'm more a 'wait and see' kind of guy, but usually disappointed. Hoping to find something to send direct to dad.

      • discount will apply for like 2% of the total number of items on ebay.

So only 2% if items will be price jacked by 21%, or more?

    • +25

Can’t wait till ebay turns 100

      • +2

Won't happen if consumer watchdogs catch up with these fake sales -.-

        • +1

          So it'll happen in 79 years…

      • They'd be lucky to make it past 28 the way things are going now…

        • +4

Im buying a lot less from ebay since ebay plus 10% off replaced sitewide 10% off.

  • +1

here we go again.. 21 days of deals

wait but whens Amazons prime promotion tho?? I don't think it happened this year.. yet

    • +1

      October

      • Did amazon have a similar one before?

    • everything sold out 30 seconds in

      • Should really be a lottery system… Keep people visiting instead of always showing sold out after 10 seconds and freezing for the next 10min

  • +30

take a shot for each hilariously overpriced ("MSRP") item.

    • +8

Not keen on getting absolutely ripped at 10am

    • Any bargains on stomach pumping?

    • update: ded

  • +2

Sounds great.. but time will tell if it's actually anything decent.

Past 20% promo's haven't exactly been anything to write home about.. well at least the more recent ones.

    • Last time I bought a stationary set and STILL didn't write home about it!

      • +2

        Is it still stationary?

        • Yep… hasn't moved at all.

  • +8

Is this like ebay plus month with bargains or Just small discounts of Jacked up prices

    • +11

Kinda knew a sale is coming up. Had a few items from SE still sitting in my watch list after I purchased them in the previous 20% off sale. Prices went down immediately after the sale, but for the last week or so it has gone back up - just in time for tomorrow I guess :P

  • +1

it will same like last time Fight For Apple Airbuds :)

    • +27

      Apple Airbuds

      Me: 🤦‍♂️

      • +1

Is this the Apple TV version of that movie about a dog who plays Basketball?

  • Also 21 daily deals.

  • +3

    my ebayplus finishes today…. Perfect!

    • +30

Don't worry there won't be any good and attainable deals.

  • Will it work on dell g7?

    • +9

You would know if you work for ebay

    • I’m sure ebay plus works on any type of laptop

    • before you find out, the battery on your g7 will be at 0%

  • +38

Well, at least it’s a reminder to cancel my free eBay plus.

    Useless!

    • You should get a $30 voucher when you try and cancel

      • I got a $50 voucher and a $30 voucher cancelling and renewing last month.
        Not complaining, literally free money.

        • +10

I'm pretty sure you had to pay $49 to get a $30 voucher

          • +2

@skido: I think he paid $49 and got $50 voucher. Just that is already $1 free money.

I even got an extra $50 that I still can't understand:
"We’re sorry there was a delay in delivery with the $50 gift card you received in our recent eBay Plus promotion. This was due to a technical issue that has now been resolved.

To thank you for your patience, here is an additional $50 gift card to spend on eBay."

Therefore, I paid $49 and got $100 back. The first gift card took maybe 48h to be delivered and eBay spontaneously sent an additional egift card after a few days.

          • @skido: Paid 49 for plus, got 2 vouchers, 50+30. The 50 expires in a month and the 30 lasts for a few years.
I mean yes you have to buy something to use them and can't use with other codes but still pretty good discount to me.

        • +2

It's not like eBay is handing you a $50 note, as you are still bound to spending it on their website, so they're on top at the end of the day.

        • No, you got free eBay credits. They on the other hand gets to roll the dice again that you forget to cancel next month

    • +6

Already cancelled mine, I got value out of the $1 year deal, but these days I'm not buying much off ebay anymore. Make sure you cancel before you get charged.

      • Why when they will give you $1 for having ebay plus

    • thanks you've just reminded me to cancel, and mine expires today! saved me 50 bucks!

  • +12

    Cue 21% price jacks

    • +3

      Still a saving though 😁
      1*1.21/0.79 = 0.9559

      • +2

        Your maths is incorrect, it's meant to be 1 × 1.21 × 0.79 = 0.9559

        • Yeah that's what I meant. Obvs that's what I did to get the result but good pickup 😁

          • @ardon: True, but "4.41% discount" doesn't have the same ring to it!

And, that'll be their 'discount" of Retail price, not of usual price!

  • +19

  • +21

    • +3

In your heart, deep down, you know this isn't sweet. But thanks for staying positive!

  • +22

The key words that make most eBay deals useless: "eligible items"

    • +1

I don’t know why they don’t do it on everything. Because they don’t my spending went down by more than half on eBay.

21% discount down but 21% increase on some seller listings. Zero sum gain.

    • +6

      Why upvote then

      • -5

Supporting Dealbot and the slight chance of something decent

21% discount for eligible eBay plus items to celebrate ebays 21st birthday. T's & C's apply.

    Terms and conditions:
Number of eligible eBay plus items = 21

    • +1

all jacked up 20% in price before discount = Total real saving 1%

      • No it's more like a 5.2% saving. 1 × (1 + 20%) × (1 - 21%) = 0.948

      • be lucky to get a 1% saving on ebay this days

    • Seems like 1 Sep 2099 we will have free ebay items 100% discount

  • Ebay: Celebrating 21 years

    Me: Oh not again

  • +3

Have been very disappointed with eBay Plus. Will not be renewing the membership. Their glitchy website confirmed an order, and since I did not receive an email even after a couple of days, approached them, and they apologised to indicate that the order did not go through because of website load. Please don't indicate that the order is confirmed then. Anyway, have been buying via Amazon. Very happy with them- though not as cheap as eBay.

    • I'm looking at a Mavic drone on eBay and Amazon. Cheaper on Amazon by $40.

  • Any hints on the daily deal items dealbot?

  • +2

Waiting for the BES920 to come on sale to the sub $700 range again….. Wishful thinking!!

    • Have you got a grinder, too? Seems like the BEP920 (BDB plus the grinder) is more widely available and therefore more likely to be further reduced, at least that’s what I keep telling myself!

      • Haha. Nah no grinder for me at the moment, been hanging out for either BEP or BES. Missed the last deals. HN had it for sub $1000 for the BEP920 recently on clearance

        • Always late to the party! Been glued to multiple screens/windows waiting for that pricepoint for a few weeks now

  • +3

no deal listed - should be in forums??

    • +2

yeah tbf this falls under insufficient details for upcoming promotion

  • +2

    Any confirmed bargains?

    • +1

I remain highly suspicious, hopefully that encourages Catch, Kogan or Amazon to gave a competing offer.

    • Confirmed prices now. Bargains are questionable since most people cant even load the page. Again, they really should have a lottery style

  • -2

    Meh

  • still waiting for the normal ebay discounts, guess it will never happen now and most big sellers are not even on ebay plus

  • +5

The real discounts end today everyone 🤪🤑👍

  • I'm expecting everyone's sh*t mate, Jack to make an appearance.
