  • Activated within 5 minutes @5am 👍

    • Nice. Is it necessary to activate using the email link only, or may be activated directly from their Website homepage?

      • Requires order number from email, so easier that way.

  • Yep, fast activation and termination for Nov 30 confirmed, $1 well spent!

    • You already placed the request for termination immediately? Does it allow? Did you get a confirmation email as well for this?

      • Can notify to terminate up to 3 months ahead. So might as well do now for Nov30!

        • Oh yeah. Have you done, or will do later during the month? Like you mentioned earlier, It's safe to place the termination request after the first bill arrives too ( ~ 7th Nov)

          • @djoz: Doing it now - better to get out of the way, as don't want to forget & be charged $38 for December!

            • @INFIDEL: Whoa! And we get the termination confirmation email immediately? Let me know.

              • @djoz: Confirm its you by entering verification code sent to mobile.

Select between the 2 date options
                31October
                30November

Take a screen shot! As email doesn't specify month of termination

Then you receive confirmation email immediately:
We're gutted that you've decided to leave Circles.Life. Your termination for mobile number will take effect at 11PM of the last day of the month.
If you change your mind, you can cancel your request for termination before 12PM* on the last day of the month by clicking on the button below. (Times shown are in Sydney (AEST/AEDT) timezone)*

                • @INFIDEL: Oh dear lord! This service doesnt fail to un-impress me.

                  • @djoz: It's easy.
Termination date will be recorded - I just haven't found it on the app etc. Basic record keeping isn't their strong point it seems.

That's why I added to screenshot the process - just in case.

                    • @INFIDEL: You did this from the App? It worked this time? I remember u mentioning last time it didnt work.

                      • +1

@djoz: I went to the website, as I couldn't get it to work last time. Didn't try this time.

If you doubt the process or failed to screenshot it, click the CANCEL link in the confirmation email & start again, or wait until next month.

                        • @INFIDEL: Where is the option to disable direct debit / auto-debit card for bill payment?
EDIT: Ah got it anyway in 'My First Bill' section. Quite surprisingly, it says the first bill will be sent within first 10 working days of October

Is that correct or again some mistake?

                          • @djoz: With Circles - I simply don't know.

Their communication is atrocious, which gives no confidence for the consumer.
As we found, even the Rep was confused about that issue.

As this is my 3rd time with Circles, with no previous issues - am ok (but not happy) with that.

A basic aspect of communication, is there needs to be clear feedback of what has been agreed up on, to give both parties certainty.
Without certainty in communication - customers will go elsewhere!

                            • @INFIDEL: Haha! Ok, so let's see.
@Neoika has activated on 02-Sep and they didn't get the Bill in the month of September. Well, maybe as it is considered as 'pro-rated'? So in case of activation on the first day of the month, maybe the billing kicks in as it recognizes it as a full month - which means they would have some end of day billing process on the first of the month as well. Damn, we shouldn't be even thinking of these technicalities - exactly why they're facing so many Negs here.

Any-which-ways, I think, the first bill either in Oct or Nov would have the $76 discount as promised in their terms. So just a wait-and-watch situation now I guess.

                              • @djoz: Yes, t&c with this Deal is different to normal offers. Joining month is not billed pro rata - with a bill waiver covering this month & the next.

So anything is possible. I doubt Circles even is sure!

                              • +1

@djoz: Just got the bill that shows two lots of $38 applied, due on 20 Oct. Circles.Iife owes me $1.26(shows -$1.26), which is the 1st Sep one day lost.

If I continue the service in Nov, that $1.26 can be used to offset the $38 monthly cost.

                                • @Neoika: Perfect. Thats great. Thanks for remembering to reply here. Much appreciated.

Are there any refunds if you choose not to continue? Looking again at some of the comments here now. If it was activated last day of the month, would they refund approximately ($38 -$1.26) = $36.74 ?

                                  https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9384740/redir

                          • @djoz:

it says the first bill will be sent within first 10 working days of October

It's very likely to be a mistake/bug. I suspect the app is just guessing your next bill date based on the current date.

                            • @jackofspade: Exactly my thought as well. Like @the INFIDEL said,

Their communication is atrocious, which gives no confidence for the consumer.

  • Yes, Yes, and Yes "We're gutted that you've decided to leave Circles.Life. Your termination for mobile number 04——— will take effect at 11PM* of the last day of the month.

If you change your mind, you can cancel your request for termination before 12PM* on the last day of the month by clicking on the button below."

    • Pity they don't confirm which month we are terminating (30November to get the bill waiver for the 2 months).

Termination is stated as 11pm Sydney time, but was before 5pm in the 2 times I've used Circles.

  • I will be activating all my Sims tommrow, just so it's classed as pro-rata for October (just in case).

    • As per T&Cs:

Your first bill will include 2 x $38 discount as your first bill includes your month of activation and the charge for your plan for the following month.

So they've factored in a maximum of two full months. Going by this, ideally the first bill should arrive in Nov, and not in Oct. The Rep has also confirmed this here just that I'm confused why the App says it will be in first 10 days of October.

    • Not pro rata in joining month - see special t&c only for this Deal

If it was pro rata billing, that would be about the most expensive way as would be billed for 30/31 * $38 for joining month!
The way to minimise pro rata bill is to activate on last day of month before, costing $1.22 for joining month as I did for last Deal.

  • Could have potentially activated on 30th sept and cancel 31 Oct and get a refund of approx ($38 - $1.22 = $36.78) per Sim.

    • Lol, no. there is an "up to" clause of the discount being provided. It is "to a max of $76 discount", not necessarily $76 overall.
      From the T&Cs:

you will automatically receive a $38 discount on each of your Circles.Life bills for the first 2 months (including the month of activation) to a maximum total discount of $76. Your first bill will include 2 x $38 discount as your first bill includes your month of activation and the charge for your plan for the following month.

    • Already discussed & dismissed that.
Wrote above the wording of the t&c for this offer rules that out!

Having already done this last year, the rebate equals the pro rata billing amount for the joining month. No profit was made.

  • Forgot to activate yesterday :(
Now have to bite the bullet and activate today and see how it goes with billing.

    • +1

Don't worry, apparently it makes no difference. I activated my sims today (on purpose).

      • In the Circles App, what does it show when you click on "My First Bill" ?

Bill will be sent within first 10 working days of _________ ?

        • Yeh. That's the standard. But it comes on the 7th day of the full month.

          • @TomGum: Ok, but does it say October or November for you?

    • Not a problem.
As stated in t&c & discussed above - free for first 2 months. So bill & billing date are irrelevant. Notify them (now) you want to terminate at end of November.
You just missed a few days use.

      • Yeah missed 1 day - 2.5 GB :)
Edit - Perhaps not 2.5 GB .. I don't think 80 GB bonus data is prorated. Only the standard 20 GB is prorated. So probably 0.67 GB .. not bad.

        • +1

          Yes - 80GB bonus data isn't prorated.
When I signed up on last day of August in a previous Deal, I received just over 80GB for the day!

          • @INFIDEL: Hi guys, no bill yet after activating on 01-Oct. Have any of you got a bill?
So, first bill in first week of Nov, then?

App still says it will come in Oct. Lol.

            • @djoz: No bill - that's next month.

      • Much like reported by others, I am observing the Data 'accounting' by Circles.Life App is more than actual usage reported by the phone. Of course, there are disclaimers that the two may differ, but I am already out by 2GB in a 20GB usage. Certainly their accounting is a bit different. What do they calculate? Download + Upload + Sideload ?

Haven't got this problem while using any of the other telcos - the data usage almost matches with that reported by the phone.

Anyone else also noticing such vast differences between phone calculation and the Telco's calculation?

  • Oh shit missed out (profanity)

    • The $1 Sim deal is back but only for one month and you have to port in.

      https://www.circles.life/au/one-dollar/

      Few things to note:
      - The Promotion code may only be redeemed once per account.
      - Existing Circles.Life customers who port out to another telco and back to Circles.Life are not eligible for this Promotion.

      • +2

Not recommended for 1 month offer, at least 2 months. There'll be hassle to deal with billing issue for 1 month.

There is a credit enquiry on Equifax report, too.

        • Yes, a 1 month offer means you have to activate on last day so Total Minimum Cost is $1.22 + $1 = $2.22 for 31 days worth of service, 100GB.

          • @djoz: No, you don't have to activate on last day. The previous $1 offer I activated on 1st and set scheduled cancellation at the end of the month. And got the bill next month for $1. So you can totally pay only $1 for 100GB. 😎

  • +3

Just got the bill. And it's wrong. Only got $38 credit. Not 2 month's worth. Well I knew it was too good to be true for this to work.

    • +1

Got the $38 bill too. I know why people not recommend now. You gotta spend time to ask them to correct the bill. 🤷‍♂️

      • +1

yeh, and times that by 5 for me!!! On chat at the moment, so far they have no clue.

    • +1

Same $38 bill. Send a complaint!

Refer Circles to this offer's t&c.
      And their "promise":
We know we’re not perfect and we want to work with our customers to continue to improve and build a telco experience that you enjoy.

      • +1

how to send a complaint? Live chat telling me, they are sending it to their billing team to investigate?

        • Will work on that later, busy with more important financial matters than Circles error. I am determined that it be resolved in our favour!

    • Same here. What a bunch of amateurs.

  • +1

    Don't forget to Revoke upvotes!
Or Neg if you didn't Vote.
Won't fall for Circles promises again👎

    • +2

Just gave them a Neg. This is absolutely ridiculous.

      • +1

Noticed the neg vote count went up!
        Circles deserve it!!

    • How do I revoke a positive vote?

      • +1

Up the top of the Deal - click on votes - Revoke your vote.

        • +1

          Done, thanks.

  • +1

Sent a PM to this Deal's associated OP.

"VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS OF CIRCLES NOW!
We've received a $38 bill for the No Base Cost Deal.
Terrible - will never support Circles again & warn others never to deal with Circles!"

    • +1

Time for you to neg the deal?

      • +1

Sadly - I upvoted early & could only Revoke my vote.
        Am certainly angry about this.

Tried to remove CC - but can't in App.

        • +3

Thank god I used a debit card which I've closed last month.

        • Turned off Automatic Payments in App (under Billing).

  • +1

    Referring to the
OZBARGAIN EXCLUSIVE PROMO - (100GB AT NO BASE COST FOR FIRST 2 MONTHS) TERMS & CONDITIONS
    point 3:
…you will automatically receive a $38 discount on each of your Circles.Life bills for the first 2 months (including the month of activation) to a maximum total discount of $76.
Your first bill will include 2 x $38 discount as your first bill includes your month of activation and the charge for your plan for the following month.

Circles have reneged on that T&C associated with this promotion!!
Only 1 $38 discount has been applied - for the month of November.

Circles have applied their normal pro rata billing in the month of activation, without the $38(max) discount promised in the t&c for the month of activation😠

As the missing activation month discount hasn't been applied as set out in their t&c, Circles will have to adjust our bills, applying the missing $38(max) discount.

Who'd use Circles.Life when they ignore their own t&c & we have to point out their overcharging👎

  • +1

    Sent OP another PM:

"Can't Circles understand & apply its own t&c??

Who could ever trust Circles again, when they reneged on applying the $38(max) discount promised in the t&c for the month of activation😠

The month of activation (October) was billed @$38 (as pro rata) but no discount was applied.
The $38 discount was only applied for November billed as $38.

(point 3) …you will automatically receive a $38 discount on each of your Circles.Life bills for the first 2 months (including the month of activation) - as set out in this Deal's T&C for this offer."

  • +1

For anyone else who had billing issues. How long did it take to resolve? All chat does is, sends off a request to billing.

    • +2

Could take a while, as based in Singapore.
Slow response / lack of support has been a complaint in Deals.

Their site says they'll respond within a day (to email & voicemail).
Head to Circles.Life App > Live Chat

But this billing issue is likely to take a while.

They need to understand this Offer's OZBARGAIN EXCLUSIVE PROMO - (100GB AT NO BASE COST FOR FIRST 2 MONTHS) TERMS & CONDITIONS are different to usual.
We've been billed under their normal T&C.

Without understanding that, they will argue there is no problem & will be a waste of time.

So make sure to refer them to this offer's T&C (condition 3):
      https://circles-legal.s3-ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/au/cir…
…you will automatically receive a $38 discount on each of your Circles.Life bills for the first 2 months (including the month of activation)

      • +1

        Same!

  • +1

So far billing refused and states that the credit will come next month. Total bullshit. Time for TIO.

    • What date had you activated? 02-Oct?

      • Yep.

        • +1

          And we activated 01-Oct.
So no matter when you activate, they have still given only one month discount. This is certainly an error on their part. Now what? How to claim it.

What is the best way? Live chat or email ?

  • +2

I think the easiest way to resolve this issue is by emailing them at [email protected] and refer them to the T&Cs

    • +1

That's what I will be doing - referring them to their T&C link, & link to this Deal.

It's easier to explain in an email - the complexity of the Deal T&C & why Circles billing is in error.

Will point out the 1 discount for November is against their T&C you will automatically receive a $38 discount on each of your Circles.Life bills for the first 2 months (including the month of activation).

      • There is a submit a request link in their website. Is that not right?

        • Think that's just for them to get back to you.

          • @INFIDEL: I cant see the email address mentioned anywhere officially on their website. The Submit a Request is under 'Other Channels' below the Live Chat (which is closed now). So isnt it the right place? Its asking for mobile number, Date of birth, Attachments etc.

            • +2

              @djoz: It's in the invoice

Email us at [email protected] - our team will get back
to you within one business day

              • +1

@jackofspade: Thanks. I am quite perturbed with all this. I had thought like a thousand, if not million, times before taking the plunge. In any case, what next? Will they waive this bill off, and update the due amount to $0.00? Or what happens?

                • +1

@djoz: We certainly read & discussed the T&C!!
                  Pity Circles didn't😠

                  • +1

@INFIDEL: They're going around in "Circles".
We are "straight" to the point with Circles.

                • +1

@djoz: They will have to waive this bill or expect many complaints from TIO

            • @djoz: Under Contact Us, it suggests Send an Email which seems the same as you see. https://circlesaustraliasupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/request…

Better to send an email from your account to lodge a complaint.

        • +1

Easier to just forward your invoice email to [email protected]

          • +1

@jackofspade: They're gonna see a lotta emails in their inbox come tomorrow, all with promo code OZBTRYUSOUT.
Glad to know that they waive the bill before due date as mentioned by some here.

Else, yeah, TIO it is. Might have already got one from TomGum.

    • +2

I just lodged a TIO for one of my numbers.

      • +1

Have to lodge a proper complaint with Circles first. That means getting back to correct their misunderstanding of the T&C.

        • +1

I did. And they emailed me back advising that billing is correct and I will get the next $38 on my next invoice.

          • +1

@TomGum: You need to make a formal complaint first, requesting the discount be applied as set out in the T&C.

Just asking about the billing is not enough.
At the moment they can say they misunderstood your complaint related to these T&C.

When their response to your complaint is not as you require, you raise it with the TIO.

But telling Circles you are sending the complaint to the TIO may convince them to reconsider.

            • +1

@INFIDEL: This is the bullshit email I got back from circles. This is despite the fact that I provided the tc and copy pasted their term 3….

You have signed up using the promo code OZBTRYUSOUT which will give you $38 waiver for 2 months on our 100GB plan.

Your first month will be prorated from the day you activated your SIM card. The $38 off will apply once you use the service for a full month, which will be in the 2nd month. The $38 credit will still run for a full 2 months, so you sill still get the $76 total rebate in full.

              • +3

@TomGum: Write this and send it back to them:
Your first bill will include 2 x $38 discount as your first bill includes your month of activation and the charge for your plan for the following month.

                Cant they understand plain English?

                • +1

@djoz: There are sometimes problems with understanding complex T&C when dealing with overseas businesses. In my experience, the interpretation is always in their favour.
