My first post here I am not sure if I am doing it correct. Please forgive me if it is not.
I understand this is re-stocking of an expired post in here earlier: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/542846 I was trying to respond to the original post but it is closed for some reason. $184 is not the best ever price according to https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B06X3Z9MF3 but it is to me as I missed the MYER $199 deal.

Glad to know another wise purchase I had done:-). I read some review it sounds not bad at all and we do keep some DeLonghi products in the kitchen.
ref: https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/delonghi-dedica-ec…And this is for the ec680, ec685 does some minor upgrade to the previous one including a removable drip tray that allow you to place a taller mug/glass up to 12cm.
ref: https://service.delonghigroup.com/kb/en/au/delonghi/faq/arti…My experience with customer service on a Delonghi coffee machine left me feeling very disappointed.
Luckily the retailer helped me out with a refund for a dangerous machine.
Just be aware that they have a different understanding of what is a major failure.
Delonghi used to be a good brand.Different machines, different experiences. However, mine has been rock-solid. Used twice daily for a year and has never had an issue (knock on wood). It made me switch from $5 takeaway coffees every day.
Pleased that yours works well. I bought a Breville from the retailer that helped me with the return. Perfect machine.
Noted that Delonghi required me to drive across Sydney to get an evaluation done which would take a few weeks. Nup.
Were you referring to this? https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/7943bfb0-54c5-40c0-…
That does sound very scary but I am not sure how would it be possible for the machine to melt the metal band.No not mine.
I had the steam wand projecting with force every time I used it as well as the machine shutting off each few minutes. Had to hold the on button down all the time I made coffee.
The two faults were not regard as major failure. It needed an "evaluation" of a few weeks.@Weshouldgetsushi: Under consumer law, either would be considered a major failure:
a major failure occurs when no reasonable consumer would have made the purchase if they had known about the problem, and the good is:
significantly different from the description, sample or demonstration model shown to the consumer;
substantially unfit for its normal purpose and cannot be easily made fit in a reasonable time;
substantially unfit for a purpose that the consumer made known to the supplier, and it cannot be made fit easily and within a reasonable time; or
unsafe.
@Shoocat: Totally agree. Hence the issue.
@Weshouldgetsushi: That's pretty appalling, did they relent in the end?
I've not needed to do this, but people I know have had success quoting similar wording to the above.
@Shoocat: Thanks. The retailer eventually relented and helped me out, when I had posted the detail on Facebook. Initially they were also uninterested. I used a similar approach to what you quoted to achieve the proper response by the trader.
The retailer directed me to Delonghi, who's staff member was unrelenting that the machine needed evaluation. Same story from retailer.
The retailer is responsible in the first instance and should not have directed me to the wholesaler/importer.
What is a reasonable time for repairs is up to interpretation. 2, 4, 6 ++ weeks?
Frankly, it is obvious what is unsafe and what should be covered by a consumer guarantee. I have done Trade practice training several times at companies I have worked for, so have some understanding of responsibilities.
This sort of experience turns you off a brand forever.And yes, I have bought Delonghi products in the past and found them both well designed and durable. As an example, I own a dehumidifier of theirs, which has been working well now for 25 years. Which is amazingly good.
@Weshouldgetsushi: That's pretty sad.
@benjaminv: The dehumidifier not sad but the Expresso machine sad.
Shows to me how the once-mighty brands do fall and p1$$ people off.
How do you access Good Guys Commercial?
By signing up with sunsuper? Not sure if it is still going on. https://www.sunsuper.com.au/dream-rewards/the-good-guys
Whats the point of posting this deal if you have to rube goldberg machine to get it?
Why the neg? There's always deals on here that require some sort of membership. Are you going to neg all the Unidays, Costco, Amazon Prime, American Express deals, etc. deals too?
Actually you only need to sign it up. You do not really need to top up your account with Sunsuper.
Much longer list of signup links here.
Wow, you won the legend medal.

Great machine. I've got one in our office which pumps out 6+ coffees a day.Way better than the Sunbeam we were using previously.
I get the most out of it by using:
- A non-pressurized 51mm basket from AliExpress
- Metal 51mm tamp from AliExpress
- Breville Smart Grinder Pro
- This shirt
I have the same setup as you (minus the tshirt). I would say it's OK, not great. I find the coffees it pumps out to be inconsistent. I bought the deal and got mine for ~$105 back in the day, so no complaints. The size and start up time are great though.
What difference do you get with the non-pressurised Ali basket?
The t-shirt made my day! Thanks chap.
I received my non-pressurised basket and portafilter from Aliexpress today.
Unfortunately, the 51mm tamp I previously bought jams up because the new basket tapers from 51mm up top to a narrower dimension at the bottom.
Does anyone here have suggestions for a smaller tamp? I'm assuming I'll have to settle for a 49mm but am keen to hear if anyone has a known good option already.
Bought this machine a month ago and love it. Terrific for small countertops and small budgets. Have just got done modding it with this Rancilio steam wand bought from JetBlack Espresso for $33. Instructions for installation are here. The machine makes way better frothed milk now. But for the real cheapskates, I hear you can take the panarello wand off and use a cable tie to keep the soft black plastic nozzle on. Happy with my new wand though. Next step the unpressurized basket, then a grinder .
Thanks for sharing this. Mine just arrived last Friday and it is my first time using a home coffee machine other than capsule machine plus a little milk frothing tub. I regret I haven't invested this machine or any other manual ones earlier. Nothing to compare to identify this machine but I am honestly happy with it for its simplicity and fairly decent cappuccino it makes. One thing puzzles me is on this original steam wand there is a configuration for either HOT MILK or CAPPUCCINO and I cannot tell the difference:-/. Since your upgrade, do you lose anything at all?
Fantastic machine.
