  • Just for my simple brain I want to double check. The 70% off sale brings the 3 year plan to $125.64 (assuming USD?). So the cashback will be $113.09 (or the AUD converted equivalent). So this $12.56?

    • +1

The sale brings the price down to US$125.64 (as you pointed out correctly) and the cashback is A$156.17 (I got this plan on 16/07). Cashback will take 95 days as per the email from CR.

      • So in my case, the amount that got debited was 175.50 AUD with the transaction charges (for 125.64 USD). Therefore the cashback i should receive should be around 91% which is 160.05(114.33 USD). Correct?

        • Cashrewards will use their own exchange rate. You don't get cashback on transaction charges. The cashback tracking email will show you exactly how much cash back you'll get.

  • In the payment section it asks the country and if you keep it as the US there is no tax but if you choose Australia then it adds 10% GST. Do you really need to do this because we're not importing goods?

    • The real question is do they pay GST

    • +1

I googled before buying it the other day and others seem to have gotten away with it for over a year so I went with US

    • GST is included on digital services.
Isn't there a $25,000 fine for GST evasion?

  • I bought Nordvpn literally 3 days ago but can't remember if I used cash rewards (I was comparing all the cash back vpn offers on ShopBack and cash rewards), was this available 3 days ago?

    • +1

You can cancel and buy again using new account

    • Definatly do what @Iwantthtbargain said, NordVPN has a 30 day money back guarentee, just ask for that and that buy on a seperate account to get the 90% cashback.

    • Has nord vpn been good to use?

      • +1

So far Nord VPN is pretty good with speed and Geo Unblocking. I use Amazon Prime and tried Japan, India and USA through Nord and it works perfect. I also have PIA, the speed is very similar to Nord however the Geo Unblocking doesn't work and Amazon Prime video can detect PIA VPN.

      • +1

I used to have Proton and PureVPN. Nord, in my experience, is far superior, for what it's worth. Much faster, no dropouts, better local services.

      • Nord is my first payed for vpn, I haven't used it too much but it is faster and has a lot more servers than any free one. The reason I specifically got it the other day was to buy a game from Russia but after buying Nord, I realised that they don't have a Russian server anymore (I googled afterwards and found out that they used to) but when I connected to Ukraine, the game was the same price as what russia sells it for (from GOG at least).

So just be aware if you need specifically russian servers.

        • I heard no vpn offer russian servers because russia doesn't like it and refuses to be apart of it or something like that….

          • @Zachary: Surfshark has russian servers, I thought express did too but they must have removed theirs as well. I didn't think a lot of countries liked vpns as they bypass location restrictions.

            • @AlmightyBeing: Then don't have your restrictions in the first place…what's point if someone will always find a way around it?

  • Can you pay monthly for this deal?

    • +1

No sadly, cheapest VPN for getting around netflix geo locking though. Its like $18 after cashback for 3 years, just so you know though, cashback takes 3 months.

    • -2

Why would you? You'd get about $3 cashback.

      • This website is full of tightarses. They'll return a product they have bought if the price drops by a few dollars. Really isn't worth the time and effort for anything less then $100.

  • How is this compare to ExpressVPN? It rarely go on sale and nothing like this sort of discount.

    • Almost the same speed. Express is slightly better. The difference is not noticeable.

      • What about surfshark?

        • I have both expressvpn and surfshark. I hit around 250 mbps with surfshark on Sydney server, and 150 mbps with expressvpn and surfshark. Local pings are slightly better with expressvpn by about 5ms, but that is really negligible. Surfshark has russian vpn tunnel whereas expressvpn removed it due to russian laws.

So if you are into buying cheap games from Russian region go with surfshark.

Both express and surf work for netflix although express I need to server hop sometimes to find one that works and surfshark just works.

For the price, go for surf if you get cashback. I paid like equivalent 12 AUD after cashback for 3 years surfshark so can't complain..

      • I have expressvpn and it works well with Netflix but doesn't work at all with Amazon Prime, that might be a consideration (unless I am doing something wrong).

        • Yes expressvpn is detected by Amazon prime, surfshark works flawlessly.

        • NordVPN was detected by Amazon Prime too, in my experience.

          • @Legolas: I've used NordVPN successfully on Amazon Prime… I google and found that I needed to connect to a particular USA server. It worked fine.

            • @Florra: I receive the message "Your device is connected to the Internet using a VPN or proxy service. Please disable it and try again. For more help, go to primevideo.com/vpn" I will try the particular server.

  • Ordered. Waiting for the information to appear in Cash Rewards.

    • How long would this normally take to appear?
I've never used cash rewards before.

      • Checked this morning, rewards balance did indeed update to reflect this purchase.

How does this compare with SurfShark?
I do experience slow connection with SurfShark and internet dropouts.
    Is NordVPN better than SurfShark?

  • I joined four months ago.
Paid US$125.64 = AU$212.46 with 28 Degrees, no point in choosing Australia*.
CR AU$184.38 came through just over two months later.
    Makes the total AU$28.08 = $0.78/month.
Our dollar is higher now, could be even less if signing up now (assuming our currency doesn't rise even more over next two months.)

    • Feel free to choose Svalbard and Jan Mayen, but don't select Hungary by mistake - 27% tax! :O
    • +1

For those looking on a ForEx update, I joined yesterday.

      Paid US$125.64 = AU$177.43 with ING.
CR tracked after a few hours with AU$153.52 pending.

(after pending) this will make the total AU$23.91 = $0.66/month.

      • -2

So it's really 86.5% cash back, not 90% as advertised….?

        • I guess someone can't do maths…or disagree with me….

    • How do you know you won't be reported for GST evasion?

      • You can choose Hungary to make up for it!

  • Just realised that PayPal is not an option. Do you use a normal credit card and pay international fees (3%)?

    • +1

Most of the non big 4 banks offer fee free international transactions.

  • How do people use this with Netflix? We watch Netflix through our Apple TV unit.

  • +3

    "Final sale" - yeah nah

  • I bought this plan 4 months ago. Can confirm Surfshark is an awesome alternate to Express VPN and received my cashback without any hiccups after 90 days.

    • +2

      You bought SurfShark or NordVPN?

  • This is really interesting, I stream hotstar from India and I remember it working flawlessly with Nord roughly 6 months ago. That was the time that I first signed up for it.
It has stopped working since then and makes me wonder if it is some kind of conspiracy when these VPN's suddenly start to work with all sreaming services for a while and then they just stop with the message by these streaming companies that your internet is accessed behind a blocked VPN.

Knowing that big streaming companies continuously block the servers and these VPN keeps on replacing the old server with the new one, what's interesting is for last 3 months, hotstar has failed to load properly via Nord, not sure how it is for others?

    • They don't replace the server, they just assign a new ip address to it. (few other software tweaks too)

    • Are there any other ways that you are able to access hotstar at the moment? I tried using a vpn too but it just seems to get stuck on loading

      • What I find with Nord is to keep it updated and if you have a problem with a specific streaming service try other servers from that location till it works. Never tried it on hotstar.

        • Tried several servers, failed
Tried Nvidia shield, Amazon firestick and apple tv (this worked really great when it did)

          • @tryingtohelp: Also, I have had better luck with Nordlynx (wireguard) connections. Under connection types in the app.

  • How does the cash back work? Is it credit or money back into bank account?

  • Do you need to have the same email address to sign up for NordVPN as CashRewards to get the cashback?

    • No.

  • How many of you have the CR credit appearing in your statement? How long after the purchase ? Thanks

  • How do people use this with Netflix? We watch Netflix through our Apple TV unit. Anyone??

  • I purchased this 3 days ago but haven't received a notification from Cash Rewards yet? Has anyone else received their notification?
Most things in the past take a night or two at the very most.

    • +1

Tracking should take no longer than 24 hours for NordVPN. I have no idea why your purchase is yet to track as I have no visibility of how you went about the transaction. My suggestion is to cancel and re-buy as they have a free 30-day money back guarantee. I’d hate to see you lodge a claim and have it declined as not attributed. Please use the CR mobile app to eliminate any issues with browser plugins etc.

      • Will do - thank you! As always - A legend of the OzB community!

        • No worries at all. Let us know how you go :)

          • @tightarse: I'm in the same boat - purchased on 29 July, no notification from CR (the click does show up in my Click History however). Has everyone else received a notification yet?

            • @AutomaticWickie: Hi. We’ve successfully tracked many many sales with no issues. My suggestion is to please do as I’ve commented above. I don’t want to see you out of pocket :)

              • @tightarse: Thanks - however (and sorry if I'm being a bit daft) - the 90% cashback offer has expired, so won't I miss out if I cancel and do it again?

                • @AutomaticWickie: Please PM me tomorrow (turn messaging on in your settings) and we’ll work something out :)

          • +1

@tightarse: Had CR track the repurchase and have just received the refund from the cancellation with NordVPN :)
            Thanks again @tightarse!

            • @S217IKLA: Great news. Thanks for confirming.

  • +1

    Thanks op
