  • Are the products Australian made?

Also where's the bargain if thats the normal price…

  • What product are you using? Zigbee/WIFI?

Does 6 way control switch counts as one switch total?

Quoting 800 aud as RRP isn't really a deal if that your already your normal prices.

    • It works on wifi.

It is not 6 way control switch. You can automation 3 x 2 Gang wall switches.

It is installed by certified electrician. Our normal price for the total solution is $800 mark

  • Just submitted an enquiry. Are there more details on the brand of switch and compatibility? I want to use this with Smartthings and Google Assistant

    • Thank you Julz. One of our team member will get back to you soon.

Sounds like they just add a mech relay behind. Like a sonoff. Better off with a new smart switch from bunnings

    • i thought sonoffs were illegal in OZ?

Product is certified and made in Australia.

Quality of the hardware and software system can not be compare with many other non-standard product.

Compatibility is very versatile. It is simple to use and robust.

Then how about stop being so shady and elusive with your answers and actually answer peoples questions openly and honestly.

What brand of switches are you using?

        What protocol are you using?

What software are you using to automate it? As I Assure you, "Quality software" system says nothing and if it's you're own system, it'd be crap compared to mainstay platforms like Home Assistant, OpenHub, Tuya, Smartthings etc.

So, if you want sales and trust, be trustworthy and not sketchy and avoiding in your answers.

        • Hello There

          Switch is our own brand.

We use standard communication protocol. We use our own software to automate it and not dependent on any 3rd party software.

even the sonoffs need a neutral wire and most correctly wired switches dont have a spare neutral run to them unless specifically done for future upgrades or the lazy sparky ran a 3 core cable. not a simple installation

      • Hi Alex01

You need neutral wire from load. You can combine neutral cables however power consumption will not work.

  • What problem does your solution solves? What kind of AI it is? Is it compatible and can be used with other products on the market?

      Hi Pdima,

Please submit query to our website with link below for specific information on compatability,
      https://www.infiniteautomation.com.au/contact/

It can work with any type of switches you may have in your place including push and toggle switches.

  • VIC only!!

Electrician prices are expensive and I'm guessing $50 per switch just for labour. So that's $300 already. Seems like a fair price and actually a bargain.

    • +1

Thank you Julz. Product quality is next level. Also, Product is made in Australia.

  • @infinitesolutions do you need a existing neutral wire at the switch for this to work?

    • What GPO isn’t gonna have a neutral?

      • I'm referring to the light switches

      • For GPOs it will work inline. GPO design limits access to switches.

    • We have wiring guide and diagram available at following link,

      www.infiniteautomation.com.au/support

Please have a look and submit query on website. We are happy to address them in detail.

      • thanks for the info, yea it needs a neutral from the field

        • Thanks Alex

    Isn’t this just an ad?

    • Hi Zaphod42,

      It is genuine bargain

  • Not sure of the bargain here, as in special price over normal price. But the only thing I can see that adds to the other "DIY" options is some kind of "AI" and power consumption indicators, which looks interesting. But the unit looks huge and I can see it being an issue for installations.

You can't have a quick/easy install that is actually good. Most of these solutions use the same re-branded WiFi boards and 'smart life' backend, but at a huge markup.

Not a crazy price, with Bunnings switches around $50 ea. But the electrician to install can be the huge cost.

    • The rep says its Made in Australia which is reassuring plus also hosted in Australia and can work offline over wifi. Pretty good price for that including install. From what I can assume, looks like the price includes 3 x 2 gang modules but will wait for the rep to respond to my online enquiry. So $130 per unit installed seems fair and even better since it supports local engineering and development, local manufacturing and local installation. Good to see locals trying to compete in a global market.

I doubt it's made in Australia, the units, using the same TWE3S wifi modules that they all use and the same control boards. I've bought Australian certified Wifi switches from Amazon AU for $20-30 each. Seeing as they don't have the 4+ gang switches, it would indicate they are using the same controller boards that the ones I use. I have 2 x 2 for my 4 gang switches. I'm all for supporting local, but $130 per unit is a rip off. Even the Bunnings DETA brand smart light switches at ~$55 is a little on the expensive side.

But yes, the combination of the power monitoring (you can get this via your smart meter + provider) is a nice touch. Not sure of the 'intelligence' of the AI, but good luck.

        • +1

Hrmm yep fair enough. But an electrician to install this would charge probably at least $100 if not more. So seems fair. Maybe not exactly a bargain. BUT the site does say it's local hosting so not your normal China based servers.

          • @0 0 0: Local hosting, hmmm. I still think it's cloud based, just using their app and servers. But yes, an electrician is the costly part in a lot of these type of installations.

          Hi Rumbaar,

Thank you for your post and reply to our ad. To answer some of your question,

Check out the size of the product in installation guide. Design is unique. We have developed everything from ground up and we do not use any 3rd party imported white label hardware.

Hardware design is unique and it will fit behind any standard switch. We have done many installation without any problems and concern. We have been working with developers and builders, No issues at all. Worst case scenario, You can install in roof (Near load) as well if you find it hard on your property (We haven't seen any so far).

We do not use TWE3S controller of wifi module. I am not sure where did you find this information. It is incorrect.

We have many wholesale and retail installations happening. They are pretty happy with performance and quality.

To answer Julz query, It is 3 x 2 gang switch.

          • @infiniteautomation: I guess you've not installed in any double storey builds, as in roof isn't much option for ground floor. Though I wonder how you connect, if you're not using those WiFi modules, and I never meant to say that you did sorry if it was taken that way (I'd edit it for clarity, but can no longer edit).

I'm all for more work in the home automation field, good luck. Hopefully a local supplier will tackle the blind automation hole we have.

            • @Rumbaar: Hi Rumbaar,

We have installed it in double story as well as apartments. We did not see any issue so far.

Also, Hardware is robust. We have released first generation of software so far. We have many more features and use cases in pipeline.

from $397, for upto 6 six switches. just to be clear, is the deal $397 to automate 6 switches?

    • Hi Athman,

Yes it will automation 3 x 2 Gang switch.

      • So a 3 x 2 gang switch counts as 6 switches?

        • Yes, And 3 x 1 gang counts as up to 6 switches.

  • Hi OP just sent a query - Rgds, Max

    • Thank you Dpkmax. Our team member will get back to you tomorrow.

  • Any compatibly with HomeKit?

    • Not at this stage. We are working on Alexa, Google home and HomeKit.

We will release it in coming weeks. Existing product will support future releases as well.

  • So we can do 6 rooms?

  • Hi OP. Pease provide more detail on the hardware
    photos?
    dimensions?
    tech specs?
    wiring diagrams?

Can the hardware be purchased separately for wiring by others (licensed) ?

Also, can I use google home to control this switch, without needing your own app (other than for the initial setup) ?

    • Hi Watts,

Dimension and wiring diagram is available on our installation guide linked below,

      https://www.infiniteautomation.com.au/support/

You can purchase it separately to be installed by licensed electrician.

Team is working on compatibility with Alexa, Googe home and home kit. It will be released in coming weeks.

      • I was hoping for a better wiring diagram. That one shows L&N going to the same terminal.
anyway, No google compatibility = not for me. Your website FAQ seems very misleading in this respect.

"Q. Can you control devices by Amazon Alexa or Google home?
        A. Yes, you can configure the Infinite Automation app with your voice-enabled devices to control your home or office appliances and switches."

        • Hi Watts,

At this stage, we haven't enable Alexa, google home or HomeKit. This product is not for you at this stage.

It will be available in coming weeks. We will notify on our social media platform when it is available.

    • Based on the diagrams in their support page it looks like it tucks behind you current light switches. It does look like you either need a separate wire to power the smart switch or when it the normal switch is off the smart switch won't work.

      • Hi

Normal switch works and it reflects in app real time even if you are not in your wifi network.

Normal switch operations works same as before. If your wifi or internet goes down, normal switch will not be affected. It will continue operation.

  • Are these just ESP8266's? Wonder if they can be reflashed with Tasmota or something more reliable than a hackjob…

    • We take security very seriously and we have tested with various hacking methods.

Every single customer has unique method of connecting and communicating to device. Communications are encrypted and secured.

    • It's not entirely clear what the hardware innards are, but it's a 2-channel interceptor box - either in the wall behind the switch, or in the ceiling near the load.

Uses 2.4Ghz Wifi, so the chances that it's based on the ESP8266 are pretty high. In effect, it's a $25 Sonoff Dual with a couple of GPIO pins exposed for connection to normal wall switches.
