I was looking for a new Nespresso machine as my current one broke down after 5 years and found the DeLonghi Nespresso Citiz & Milk Coffee Machine - White (EN267WAE) on Amazon AU at 38% off currently. Not the cheapest it's been, given there have been cashback offers in the past but a reasonable price as it includes delivery and free returns for piece of mind with Amazon. Price ranges from $295 to $399 at other sellers currently if they have stock:

Nespresso - $399 (White)
Harvey Norman - $299 (Black)
Appliances Online eBay - $295 (White)

Average price for this product is $263.40, definitely not retailing for $398.99

I have a Citiz & Milk - though not this brand, I think the original, which looks like this:
      https://www.delonghi.com/en-au/products/coffee/coffee-makers…
I think they're basically the same though just with a different base and attachments.

It must be about 8 years old now, and I've never had an issue.
I'm convinced the thing is pretty much indestructible at this point!

They also use the classic Nespresso pods with no DRM, so you'll always be able to find new varieties around to try, or get cheap options at any supermarket.

(edited as I realised I'd posted an image from a page someone was selling)

      • Yep, had mine for what seems like forever as well. Not a drama.

        • Same! Only issue is one of the frothers stopped working. New one is about $100. Another frother started getting a 'hot spot' inside where the milk would burn and no matter how good you wash it, it gets worse. Common problem I've seen on several.

Also worth considering the essenza mini bundle which is cheaper - $179 at JB Hifi. (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/delonghi-nespresso-en85ra…)
I think the only real difference is the citiz has a larger water tank and larger used capsule drawer.

  • What does broke down mean exactly? These are known for an easily fixed air lock issue? Not much inside them either and $50 on average for parts will have it up and running again.

    • No power to the unit.

      • Might be just a $1 fuse. Hopefully someone can make use of it on FB marketplace. I canibalised a 'dead' nespresso machine to fix my Perfecta machine (same boiler).

        • Had a quick Google and found:

Check and replace electronic components — If the machine won't turn on, the fault is often because a thermal breaker has blown. Check the circuit diagram for your machine to locate it. Since the appliance is unplugged, you can conduct a continuity test and replace the part, if necessary.

Might give it a shot and take a look inside. If it's fixable I'll just have a spare machine shurg

  • It's a decent deal, but honestly even though I'm fairly cheap I'm not regretting just spending $900 for a bean to cup coffee machine - when you can get a kilo of beans for $15 and that can make hundreds of coffees for 10c each, it doesn't take long for it to come out better value than the 80c-$1.10 per capsule Nespresso (if you drink a lot of coffee). Extra bonus is hit the flat white button, stick it in a flask, and you just saved anywhere from 80c (7-11) to $4 (coffee shop). It's not Barista, but it's pretty good for the price.

Plus you can use the used grounds as fertilizer for the garden, and you save the environment from all those aluminium capsules.

    • What machine did you end up going with? I want an all-automatic bean to cup coffee machine for the office. Maybe something that keeps milk chilled too? Does that even exist? ha. Have seen some Jura's & Delonghi Magnifica's floating around, but curious if theyre any good. Cheers

      • Delonghi Dinamica from Costco for $900 - same as this model from Myer for $1099. No built in milk chiller, so I just pull off the milk tank and stick it in the fridge when I'm between coffees. You could possibly jury-rig one by drilling a hole and running the tube out the side of the plastic milk tank into a chilled one though. If you can get a good price on a Jura, they also have milk chillers as well.

        • Looks good thanks for that. Have you heard much about the primadonna? Just found a refurb one online for 1100 (1850 apparently) and colour touchscreen.

          • @blaze: It's basically a Dinamica with a touchscreen. I wouldn't bother, a touchscreen isn't worth an extra $200 over a black and white LCD with up and down buttons to select (assuming you or someone you know has a Costco membership).

            • @[Deactivated]: no costco near me :/

              • +1

@blaze: In that case it's a solid choice. I'd still hunt around a bit, if you can find someone selling the Dinamica for what Costco is charging you'll save a few buckaroos, otherwise it's a pretty OK deal on it.

        • 1450kW?! That has 14.5x more power than my Toyota Corolla! Myer sell some pretty good coffee machines, that's for sure!

The same machine is available for $159 as a "factory second" from the De’Longhi Outlet.

    https://www.delonghi.com/en-au/factory-seconds/seconds-shop/…

I recently purchased the Inissia for $79 from here, and it looked brand new, it just wasn't in the original box.

    • I've also recently purchased from the factory second store. Plain box, but the unit looks unused. I think it's an old model, but makes good coffee so I'm happy.

    • That's actually the older model, larger footprint. Unsure of any other differences as I'm just starting to look into theses.
