  • Would I be eligible for bonus points if I have a Qantas Premier credit card at the moment?

    • Yes bucause this is an Amex issued cc.

Hi Op, are any offers on the horizon to transfer from Amex Velocity Platinum to a comparative Qantas card?

  • -8

unfortunately Qantas point is now meaningless

    • +5

you mean, Velocity? What's wrong with Qantas?

  • +2

Is this worth it considering a lot of places don't accept Amex and if they do there is a high surcharge. Aren't you paying for the points through the surcharge?

    • +7

IME, it wasn't that bad when I had an Amex (cancelled September last year).

Most places accepted without a surcharge - just have a backup card for places which don't accept, or surcharge Amex.

Major retailers, supermarkets and fuel stations don't charge for Amex - JB Hifi is probably the big standout for Amex surcharges.

    • +3

Maybe a decade ago. Most places accept Amex now. The notable exception might be Costco. Most places don't surcharge and many of the ones that do also surcharge Visa/Mastercard too, such as Aldi. Only big store I frequent that surcharges Amex and not other cards would be JB HiFi. As a general observation, I think availability of places accepting Amex improved around the time banks started co-issuing Amex cards to holders of other cards.

Otherwise most grocery stores, department stores, take away etc both accept Amex and won't surcharge it. It's still worth having another card as a backup, but I use Amex for the majority of my purchases.

Given you can also use Amex with PayPal, most online shopping also supports it if not through the direct payment poral, then via PayPal or other payment processor.

I'd say its the annual fee covering the points scheme, which is largely true with most cards offering rewards schemes. I think my cards very much worth it as Amex has better rewards schemes than many cards, although I have a Platinum Edge as opposed to this card.

Do you have to ask places if they have a surcharge or do they legally have to tell you ?

    • +1

It's not that bigger deal. Just ask if they accept AMEX and is there a fee? If there is a fees use your VISA/Mastercard.

  • +1

In the current climate, I believe this is not a great value. $450 Annual Fee, $6000 spend in the first two months. Big ask I would say.

    • +1

$1500 per month. "A minimum of $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 2 months".

      • Ok, I thought it was $3k/m. I think $450 is still too much.

    • +1

Business credit card, designed to funnel company spending through it.

  • Is having an ABN good enough for this deal, or need an ACN?

  • +1

Need to have a business which is registered for GST in order to get this card

    • +1

      Good point Spaceman

        Finally someone understands me :')

  • +1

Maybe this can stack with additional 30,000 points for new card customers -

  • +1

Do business credit enquires end up on your personal file?

  • no free first year, no deal.

  • it is not credit card, its is "charge" card right?

  • With the state of international it's over for high priced rewards cards .. :-( .. !!

@pohaau Looks like the link for 2. is broken??

Steps to receive additional 30,000 Qantas Points:
    1. Sign up free through this link(qantas.com) first if you are a NEW QBR member.
    2. Register through this link(accounts.qantas.com) first if you are an EXISTING QBR member.
    3. Make sure to apply using the exclusive Point Hacks American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card link here(pointhacks.com.au).

I already have a QBR account (as of 30th June), and it's not linked to a QFF earning cc yet.

Looks like it's fine as long as it hasn't been connected to a cc yet in the description, but in the Point Hacks fine print, mentions the QBR account needs to be registered between July 1-31.

    Any advice?

  • Question - how do the Qantas Business Rewards and QFF relate?

Can I transfer points in my Qantas Business Rewards account into my personal QFF account at 1:1?
