That's the price it should be normally. You'd be insane to pay full price for B&J.

You'd be insane to pay full price for B&J.

They also don't give you a full 500ml

      • The reason for that is because 458ml is a pint which American's use for their sizing. Ironically enough that's where the ice cream is from.

So these ones are actually made in the USA?

@jv: Congrats Sherlock, you solved the mystery once again!

      full price for B&J.

      ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • What is NQR?

It's a supermarket retailer. The name stands for "Not Quite Right" - they sell food & drink that is past the best before date (not used by date) and also grey imports. The website doesn't mention this and doesn't convey the full name so perhaps they have changed business model slightly but $5 for 16 sakata packets makes me think otherwise.

      • Thanks mates, it seems that I don't have a nearby branch though, so it is like reject shop I assume.

        • The Reject Shop is slightly different in their food as they are still within Best Before dates. It's mostly stuff that were "Limited Edition" (e.g. Chip Flavours) or Grey Imports.

      • Still the same business model (I have one in Ringwood, that I'm very fond of, which is their new store)

  • How does this brand fair against bulla?

    • Bulla is absolute rubbish compared to anything half-decent like Connoisseur, Magnum tubs, Pana, Haagen-Dasz, etc. Bulla, Peters and Sara Lee are all ersatz, imitation ice cream.

That being said, this is hardly Ben & Jerry's best flavour. Try some Phish Food, Choc Fudge Brownie or Karamel Sutra. Those are hands down the best ice cream flavours on the market.

      • Best banana flavoured ice cream on the market is B&J's Chunky Monkey.

      • That's not true. Anything that says 'ice cream' on the tub is legit ice cream. To be labelled ice cream a minimum percentage of cream is required in the ingredients.

        • Anything that says 'ice cream' on the tub is legit ice cream. To be labelled ice cream a minimum percentage of cream is required in the ingredients.

Seems like your sarcasm detector could use some recalibration.

Yes those brands are ice cream in the sense that they contain milk, milk fats, sugar and flavourings in the same way that a McDonald's is like a restaurant; but that doesn't make Bulla, Peters, Sara Lee taste anywhere near as good as some Ben & Jerry's. Expand your horizons a bit more and spend a few more dollars per tub and you'll taste some real ice cream.

          • @Miami Mall Alien: Mate I've tasted all the ice-cream under the sun, just because it comes in a tiny tub and costs four times the price doesn't mean it is any better. I personally think Bulla is a decent ice-cream.

            • @tumblew33d: Just because you're stingy and you feel a psychosomatic gratification from saving money, doesn't make a low-quality ice cream taste better. You get what you pay for. Bulla is low-end garbage for tight asses.

              • @Miami Mall Alien: Funny given you are on OzBargains

                • @tumblew33d: Saving money and favouring quality over price aren't mutually exclusive. I'll gladly pay more for a superior product; I eat ice cream to enjoy the actual taste of it, not to think about the money I saved purchasing it.

  • +1

well, their products are OK but not on scale with to their price (they do like maximum 30%
off down to 8 while competitors like magnum occatioanlly do half price dowb to 5)

    • +5

Way better quality than magnum… Not a competitor.

  • Can I claim cashback? :P

  • These are always $3 @ NQR….

  • B&J is the best, but not their lite version, which is what is on sale.

  • +1

Dahm this is my favourite lite version of B&J. I can see why it failed though… not lite enough for dieters, not flavourful enough for most.

  • These go super quickly at NQR Ringwood
