Updated, thanks.
Waiting for experts opinions
$799 at jb $599 hn tgg so this a nice price delivered
Dang, no HDR10+ passthrough on the HDMI (or Dolbyvision for that matter).
There is always someone that can find a problem with every bargain, isn't there.
Would this be any improvement on the trusty Logitech Z623's?
Expert opinion needed.
I'd expect significant
Uh the old Atmos without actual Atmos Speakers.
Easy way to double the price.
Can you give us simpletons some more info on this? :)
They'd also probably have to pay a licensing fee I believe to use that terminology
Oh you mean no upfiring speakers? Was thinking of buying this..
Looks like this inside.
So how can it be Atmos with no upfiring speakers?
@93vector: Digital processing of the sound. They try to ‘trick’ your brain into thinking the sound is coming from somewhere else.
“Atmos” is stuck on anything these days even mobile phones.
Guess I am not buying this… thanks
@bigbadboogieman: Panasonic range seems to be all missing upward firing speakers.
If you are looking for it you will probably need to spend much more on something like the Sonos Arc @ $1395 which has them.
@thebadmachine: I was thinking more on the lines of JBL 9.1 (7.1.2) bar from this link. What's do you think? It's a bit more expensive so thinking if I can score a further discount somehow.
@bigbadboogieman: Yes that one seems to have upward firing speakers as well.
Personally would listen to both before buying.
But the Sonos Arc was just released so it will be awhile before you see any decent discounts.
Yeah putting ATMOS on a 3.1ch speaker system is a gimmick… At that point it's just processing on the sound. You need dedicated upfiring speakers in a soundbar or system, or ideally ceiling mounted downfiring speaker's to get Atmos.
Here's my demo of Atmos, a 3.1.2 soundbar would be minimum to achieve anywhere near the same results.
The extra .2 on the end is dedicated heightened speakers for Atmos systems
Good to know. So as a soundbar, would this be worth the $50-70 premium over a Yamaha YAS209B?
@93vector: Honestly it's highly advisable to demo every audio product. Each person can have completely different ideas.
Personally I'd take an audio brand over a one that well isn't.
Sadly seems to be the way Atmos is going - stick it on anything ; even though it is not truly 'Atmos'.
Great way to trash your branding, Dolby. Coming to a Kmart near you. (nothing against Kmart)
When I saw it on stereo speaker mobile phones I lost all hope
Great price, I paid more for a refurbished unit. Massive improvement over built in speakers.
Price. Title.
