note that these xeons only support ddr4 at 1866mhz, but they do run at quad channel for extra bandwidth, so ideally you'd want 4 sticks of ddr4, this combo only has 2 sticks for dual channel

haswell ipc is around 10% behind current gen, but with the lower clock speed they lose up to 35% to ryzen 3600 in terms of single thread performance:

                in particular the capacitors are new, and they're usually the first components to fail

    they look like standard LGA2011-3 mounts so check your cooler supports that, a lot of cheaper coolers don't support this
    I common problem on these cheaper boards is how close the ram is to the cpu socket too so ideally a cooler that the fan can be raised a little if required

  Buyer beware, but this mobo has realtek lan chip, which is notorious in freenas community for compatibility issue. All freebsd based os would have the same issue as well. Perhaps Linux as well, can't comment for sure.

    It can easily be fixed with Intel NIC addon card which isn't that expensive. I was able to grab 4 intel nic one for roughly 30 AUD.

  I've recently tried ordering motherboard combos from 2 different sellers. Wuson and Machinist. Both orders had tracking numbers but after a few days came back as returned to seller. Wuson I requested aliexpress premium shipping, Machinist was Aliexpress standard. Machinist said they couldn't send via any other means. Wuson said they can only send via Y-line, EMS or DHL but I asked for a refund rather than wait any longer. Just thought you guys should be aware in case you run into similar issues as my guess is that this issue could be widespread.

    by my observation sellers have been putting premiums on shipping ever since covid, sellers won't post when they find out they undercharged for shipping. this seller in particular had postage of ~$15 just a week ago. now its substantially less at ~$5 and i wonder if things are improving or if the seller made a mistake…
