    These guys have awesome customer service, can vouch for them.

    I attempted to purchase a laptop from them a few weeks back, paid for it and all but they quickly notified me the next morning that they couldn't ship it out as it was already sold out. Didn't want to go through with it and they processed my refund on the spot after taking up on their offer to. Usually companies are really slack on their refund policy but the fact that these guys responded quickly means they're doing something right. In addition to that the checkout process was really quick and painless.

    You know you're getting old when you write reviews about good customer service

      sick

    • Don't downplay it, customer service can make or break an experience. Unless the deal is really bloody good.

      Dude, I would say the opposite if you're getting old… old people have so much time all they do is complain!

  • Isn't this better?

    http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/43343pm-lenovo-g570-4334…

    The only downside is that you need to wait a while for your money back.

    • It's getting close to the 30th of Sept already, so gonna be quick if you want to claim it.

      • Just need to buy it before the 30th. Then you have a week to lodge the claim.

        TERMS & CONDITIONS: Cashback Terms & Conditions: Products must be ordered and paid for within the offer period of 1st April 2011 until 30 September 2011. Claims must be lodged via the website within 1 week from the sale date.

          IMO - cash back is not worth the hassle and I'd rather not reward companies for making my life difficult.

          yes, how dare lenovo give you a $50 discount. they do it via a cashback scheme so they don't piss off the retaillers by forcing them to drop the price directly…

        • YEAH Lenovo cash back is a joke. They told me I need to wait at least 6weeks.

        • Better than Acer mate. My Aspire One netbook cashback took over 5 months. I had even completely forgotten about it and was puzzled when I saw my bank account received a payment from Acer.

  • Just wonder is the laptop in stock, ready for dispatch?

    I am in Sydney if I order today, will I be able to get it on Monday?

    • Hi kk128,
      we still have stock as we speak, but the going rate of this laptop is pretty fast, so better be quick. If payment confirm today, there is a very high chance you will receive it by monday.

  • I would never buy another HP/Compaq - if someone gave me one as a gift I would take it back and exchange it for something better.

    Compaq/HP continued to sell the CQ40 even after they knew there was a design flaw in the screen that caused them to cr@p out… it's all very well to have a 'back to base' warranty', but CPQ machines will continue to drop pieces (USB ports, DVD drives, etc) after the 1yr mark, and for the price of an extended warranty you could cover the additional cost of a better machine.

    Our CQ40 developed the following after 13 months (srsly ~ as if it was planned):
    * screen non-functional (the aforementioned KNOWN design flaw);
    * 2 of 4 USB ports cactus;
    * DVD drive cactus;
    * HDMI port sketchy (works about 70% of the time);
    * ethernet port sketchy (like the HDMI); and
    * card reader malfunctions.

    It's never been dropped - and straight out of the box, half the keyboard didn't work (and now it behaves as if the Fn key is depressed)… that was the only thing that failed within the warranty period, and they fixed it.

    Avoid CPQ/HP like the plague, or you deserve what you wind up with.

    We have found a use for it - as our media-centre PC - but that's not the point… it was supposed to be a notebook.

    • I have had 3 HP laptops stuff up on me in the past. They might have improved their quality these days but still I avoid HP laptops.

      • ever heard of people complaining Dell? Sony? Acer? and others?
        to be fair, every brand has low-value series, and high-end series!
        some has designer flaws, some use low end pcb, even some were casing problems
        but at least the Business grade HP laptops didn't failed for our company! :)

  • No Dedicated graphics is a killer IMO…also HP.

  • if you don't like hp/compaq there's this toshiba at dick smith for $399, same specs

    this one's much better with faster processor for $423
    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XC8930/asus-k52f-sx182v-note…

    • That ASUS is using a Core i3 370m, not the same kind of Sandy Bridge CPU found in this bargain.

      The CPU in this one is a Core i3 2310m which performs marginally faster than a 2.4 ghz Nehalem Core i3.

      • yep, got too excited, but you're right there

  • The Lenovo deal is much better.

    • Yeah, that's what I thought. Same price minus the time it takes to get the cash card and you get 2GB more RAM, dedicated graphics (albeit a pretty average one), and a bit more storage space. Also, it isn't HP.

      • +2

        And it's a Lenovo lappy…
