OZB_SPECTRA_$500OFF

Hi OzBargain,

As requested got a couple of ripper deals in the higher end priced extremely well with inclusions that most people are after like the B650M PLUS variant, 32GBs of 6000MHz RAM and a super fast 1TB M.2. The 7800X3D is on a huge shortage and we've managed to secure enough for this deal, if the price to performance proposition isn't for you anymore we've also included the 9700X for $200 less where you may see more value. The 7800X3D and 9700X are almost neck to neck in performance and always edging each other out depending on the game or use case. Plenty of value with each CPU, comes down to your preference and needs! Superb airflow on the MSI 120A case with 6 fans keeping your rig extra cool.

Exactly what I was waiting for, but is that PSU enough?

    • +2

Yup, no issues at all from our testing. Have had plenty of previous rigs using P650SS with this combination without an issue.

      • Ok thanks for the reply. With these deals can you upgrade things and still use the code? It doesnt seem to work after I add a better cpu cooler

        • +2

Yep you can, it'll work. Please allow 30 seconds or so to allow the system to recognise your configuration :).

          • @Nebula PC: If I upgrade to 4080 GPU, what power supply is recommended? Any else should be upgraded as well?

            Thanks

            • @vasya: you can check on pc part picker it'll give you total wattage, obviously add more watts for psu for headroom

    • Should be fine as long as you don't overclock

  • +5

I know it's most likely up in the air, but are you likely to be selling 50 series builds soon after those cards are available? Something like this with a 5080 or 5070ti is what I'm looking for but not sure it's worth waiting if that's going to take a long time (or be substantially more $$)

    • +2

from what we know it would be about the same pricing if Nvidia RRP is to go by?
meaning these cards (40xx) should be about 15-20% cheaper as thats about how much better 50xx is, not including fake frames

      • to wait (and potentially miss out on this deal), or not to wait.

        decisions decisions…

        • if you dont need it urgently you might as well wait, there are better CPUs (9800x3d) and gpus (about to be released)

          • @botchie: yeah I might wait an extra month for the GPU release but the 9800x3d has been out for a couple months now so I assume any price action on the 7800X3D has already happened to a large extent.

waiting for GPU release also means waiting for whenever the next OZB PC bargain appears, which might turn that 1 month wait into a couple months wait.

            • @coldazure: yes there is always something bigger and better around the corner but I suggest 9800x3d with a new card is where its at unless you need a PC urgently.
I picked up the MIS deal they had few months ago as my old comp shat itself otherwise I would have waited - thought looking at the prices and AUD tanking it might not have been a bad deal
              9800x3d is crazy good CPU

              • @botchie: do you think the 9800x3d is $150 (about 15%) better than the 7800X3D?

                • @coldazure: not sure, but when it came out it was same price so then yes it was :)

    • I also want to know

    • +1

Nothing is set in stone yet.

  • +4

9700x is the better deal imo, at 1440p they're basically the same performance wise. And in other tasks the 97x will be better anyway. And save $200.

    • +2

From what I googled on reddit and versus and etc that doesn't seem to be true?

      • 7800X3D will give better 1% lows

      • +2

I always use the TechPowerUp relative performance charts to compare CPUs and GPUs because you know you're getting a consistent methodology. At 1440p with an RTX 4090 (much faster than the 4070 Ti Super in these builds) there is only 5.4% advantage to the 7800X3D: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9700x/19.html

In terms of 1% lows which someone else mentioned, the 7800X3D was 6.8% faster at 4K resolution with an RTX 4090. Again with a 4070 Ti Super at 1440p this will translate to the difference being unnoticeable.

Some people worry more about upgrade path/future proofing than others, but unless you're planning to do a major GPU upgrade in this build in a few years' time, I don't think it's worth the $200 extra.

  • +1

Very keen. please provide a list of GPUs we might receive if we order one of these

    • its in the part picker - Galax

      • +1

it says brand may vary on the product page

    • +3

GALAX and PNY at this stage.

      • -2

I’d never heard of either of these brands but did a bit of googling and they both seem ok - at least according to some random reddit threads.

anyone beg to differ or have any feedback on them?

        • +1

Been using a PNY 4070 Ti for a year and a half and it's been completely fine for me.
Friend also has the white variant and it's been the same from his side.

        • +3

They're fine and less common in the West - hence why everyone assumes they're crap compared to big names like ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte etc. PNY are an old school US brand. Their main focus in recent years has been OEM cards for brands like Dell for their prebuilts and Quadro workstation cards.

Galax and their parent company Palit are good too. Galax have beaten a lot of the bigger brands over the years in overclocking and they have solid cooling and VRM.

I personally use a heap Palit GPUs in my AI rigs due to being cheaper than the bigger brands, sufficient cooling and good OC. Plus some of their shrouds look good too.

        • I have the previous gen Galax SG/Super Gamer card, overclocks nicely and temps are decent.

        • As if you've never heard of them, they've both been around for ages! The Galax 1060, 1080, and 1080tis were classic

      • Thanks, bought one :)

  • Great deal for those needing a new PC!

  • +3

Techfast had same build for 2k less than a month ago

    • -1

      Lolwut

    • +3

lower quality mobo, psu and ssd… and I think they were 16gb ram by default… but yeah it was a little better value overall

  • +2

X3D slightly edges out the 9700x for some games. Pretty neck and neck otherwise. TDP is much lower on the 9700x so will run cooler and use less energy. Bees dick of a difference for most. I'd save the $$$ and go the 9700x

  • If I decide to not pick a windows license will the pc still work ? I had a prebuilt pc before and didnt order windows license , it had a watermark in the bottom right hand corner saying to activate windows . Thanks

    • +1

Yes, it will work and boot into BIOS. You will need to install an operating system of your choice. There is no operating system installed unless a license is purchased.

    • you can run windows without activation indefinitely if you so choose. Non-activation status only affects cosmetic things. And really Microsoft doesn't care how you get your windows license either

  • Any similar deal without GPU?

    • Not at this stage.

  • Hi Lawrence - Any BYO GPU deals for the 7800X3D? I've got a graphics card already but need a new system.

  • Hey Lawrence!
Was wondering if there are any other white case options? Thanks!

    • Not many available but we do have Corsair 3500X white on hand if you like.

      • keen on a white case too - i messaged the chat on the website and someone named carl said the Corsair 3500X is not available. only the cases listed are.

        • It is available now however we need to add to the build, M100R PANO PZ in white has also just come in.

      • Is there a price difference? How to order with the white case?

        • Yes, the case will cost more.

  • +1

    Hi team,

I’m interested in pulling the trigger on one of these but I’m wondering what the value is on the shipping insurance if any damage is covered by the seller according to consumer affairs?

    https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/consumers-and-businesses/pro…

    Cheers!

  • If this was a tennis (AO) themed deal you could almost say that a near 200km ace has just been served!

  • +1

Just need a 4070S option to improve cost

    • Can do it next time, typically not quite popular here as the GPU isn't good enough.

  • This or hold on a bit longer hoping for price drops once the new gpu generation comes out…?

Interested to hear from anyone who is capable to build pc themselves - feedback on going prebuilt at these prices vs build yourself? I guess better warranty, time saved, maybe even cheaper pricing access in bulk by nebula to produce these deals vs individual retail price (esp if you look at their pc part picker list/price), is it a no brainer? They make a good value proposition from the benefits they highlight in their post I guess (& nebula feel free to comment too if you want!).

I’ve built many pc back in the day but a bit rusty and out of touch with the current tech landscape.

    • +3

A lot of the prebuilts offered by companies that post on OzBargain like Nebula, Techfast etc. offer very solid value as long as you don't change any components in the build. If you use their upgrade options e.g. to add more RAM or storage, change case or power supply etc. then the value can drop away quite quickly because their upgrade pricing is often pretty bad.

For the record, I think these Nebula builds are very good value, especially the 9700X since it will deliver the same real-world performance as the 7800X3D when paired with the 4070 Ti Super. But to give you an example, if you want G.Skill CL30 memory instead of Klevv CL32, that will cost you $100 via Nebula when the price difference at a retail store is about $25. To change the included HP 1TB SSD to a 2TB SSD of the same brand and model will cost you $180 when the price difference at a retail store is $89. I will say that some upgrades seem much more reasonable, e.g. with this deal the upgrade to an MSI Gold rated PSU is about the same as the retail price difference between the included model and the upgrade.

Nebula isn't doing anything wrong or unethical, their business model is to get batches of components at very good prices and put builds together based on these. But it's worth being aware of retail pricing for component upgrades whenever you're looking at one of these deals.

      • @aelix thanks for the detailed reply, that makes a lot of sense and explains it well. I guess as well, predicting whether there's a likelihood of adding or upgrading things DIY down the road would also weigh into the decision of whether to get a prebuilt vs DIY.

  • This or wait for 5070? Keen to do 4K 240hz gaming. Probably end up playing Windows solitaire anyways lol

    • 5070 looks like being awful value, at least based on Australian pricing. It has 12GB VRAM which is pretty questionable for a 1440p/4K GPU in 2025 but more importantly, its launch price here is going to be $1109 which is $40 less than a 7900XT. The 7900XT has 20GB VRAM and is 15-20% faster than the 5070 based on info to date.

Or if you really want NVIDIA due to its software and ray tracing benefits, the 4070 Ti Super is probably 12-17% faster than the 5070 and has 16GB VRAM for about $150 more. And if you get it in a build like the 9700X one here, you're getting very sharp pricing due to Nebula's buying power.

  • hi, is pick up available?

    • nvm. I found a pick up in store option

    • Yes, please choose pick up in checkout.

  • if I buy this without an OS. how do I install windows myself? if I buy online cheaper. I'm guessing they just supply a cdkey sort of thing for me to activate? but I need to install windows into the pc first right?

    • Scroll up, it’s discussed a bit above. Sorry don’t know how to link to a specific comment

      • +1

        Thank you.

I’m guessing its the “ Just gonna casually drop this here…”

How legit are those sites that sell cd keys for windows for like $19 etc. also any recommendations on sites to purchase keys that are legit

        • Do not buy windows. The dodgy websites are stolen or just bullshit and the money would never go to MS anyway.

          Use https://massgrave.dev/

This is apparently the same method a windows customer support worker would use to authenticate your windows if you phoned up.

I used it a few days ago.

          • @destroyer661: I understand now. I was thinking how can they get it so cheap.
Illl give the above site a try when i get it

  • +1

I'm really really tempted 😭but I'm trying to hold out for the 50 series

  • Any slightly more budget centered builds on the horizon?

    • Yes, will have more mid-range options shortly.

  • Anyone recommend a good monitor to pair with the 7800x3d & 4070 Ti Super that’s ideally 240hz, IPS, flat - for 1440p?

  • So tempted to purchase this but I've been holding out for the 5K series.

  • I’m going to upgrade to the 4080. Which processor should i pair this with

  • Any idea when the 9950x3D chips are in stock and when you will have systems based on that ? I have a spec in mind but am waiting for this.

    • No chance, no stock anywhere to the best of my knowledge. If you see it in stock anywhere buy it immediately. This is as of today.

  • This is great value. ~$200 better value than the Evatech PC I bought late last year.

  • Tempted to bite the bullet on the 9700x deal.

Well over due for an upgrade on my old 3800x and RX580.

Been tempted to wait until the 50 series drops but this will more than meet my needs… although I would also need to upgrade my old 1080p 34-inch LG ultrawide IPS monitor for at least a 1440p IPS 🤔

  • Got it. Thanks OP. Missed out on the 9800x3d and 4080s deal earlier and didn't want to wait any longer. Hoping FS2024 will run on ultra. Looking to upgrade to a 4k monitor at some point.

  • man i keep coming to this post, temptation is brewing lol

    • +1

I broke last night and just ordered it, thought I'd wake up with buyers remorse but now I'm just waiting for it to be delivered in the next few weeks 🤣

      • i'm still in contemplating mode, worried that i'll regret it if the price drops even more after the 50 series release in a few weeks.

i'm not an expert at any of this nor have i checked previous market price actions whenever a new model is released but do you feel the price won't get much better than this even after the 50 series release in the short term?

        • I contemplated that too. However, the 5070 isn't out until Feb and then I imagine it will be as hard as hen's teeth to find one in stock at RRP, so I don't see it pressuring 4070 Ti Super prices too much in the near term.

In the end, I decided this build was at a price I was happy to pay and met my requirements for a system that I won't need to upgrade for several years for my use case. I also hesitated on the Techfast deal a couple of weeks ago and missed that deal so have spent some time thinking about whether it's worth waiting longer or not.

My current system is on its last legs so I didn't want to be waiting several more months.

My biggest decision now is deciding what monitor to upgrade from as I currently run a 1080p ultrawide 🤣

          • +1

@Silent-BoB: fair enough. that was my concern as well.

I'm not as desperate as you but equally i'd be annoyed if I have to wait potentially a couple of months before a cheaper/better deal with similar specs show up again.

  • hi Nebula PC

If I purchase today. when should I expect to be able to pick up the pc from you

    thanks

7-10 business days from order date :).

    • +1

i'm looking at the same thing on paper the point of difference is the number of DP vs HDMI

      https://versus.com/en/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-4080-super-windfo…

performance etc i have no but according to this comparison site should be very similar

      • thank you for the link. you are right. it looks like main difference is 3DP which I think will be the winner

        • +1

ended up pulling the trigger and staying with the 4070 that will be sufficient for me

    • The smallest would be Lian Li Dan A3, very hard to fit the GPU in other smaller cases due to the length.

  • When does this one end? Partner needs to update but by the time he decides generally have missed out on what he has settled on

    • It has ended now, no more stock unfortunately.
