Bosch Blue 18V Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Kit - $150 @ Bunnings

2320

Includes
1 X 18V 13mm Hammer Drill GSB 18V-21
1 X 18V 1/4" Impact Driver GDR 18V-160
2 X 18V 3.0Ah Batteries
1 X Fast Charger GAL 1880 CV

Just picked one up from Bunnings Sunshine (VIC) which included a tool bag (which doesn't appear to be shown in the link). It was listed for $319 in-store.

Seems good value for a well known brand. Seems to be nationwide.

EDIT: unfortunately Bosch confirmed this purchase is not eligible for their tax time promo

Good luck!

      The real MVP!

    • Fantastic!

Any chance of posting the brushless combo as well? (Or at least the stock in Windsor Gardens SA?)

    • how did you even…. he just hacked the matrix

  • +4

I need a couple more batteries. Almost worth buying for the batteries and charger alone …

  • +1

How powerful is the hammer drill? Can it drill through concrete/bricks easily?

    • +1

Arent all hammer drills meant to do that?

      • +6

You obviously haven't tried using cordless variant to drill through concretes.

        • +1

          no.
I have an ozito hammer drill which is corded.
          Was cheap but good.
          That's why I was wondering.
Makese sense cordless may not be as powerful.

          • @[Deactivated]: I have the Bosch GSB 18 V-EC drill which I believe is similar. Great drill, but the hammer function is rubbish - yes you can drill through a brick eventually but you'll be there all day to do it.

Get a proper hammer drill rather than a combi if that's what you need for the job.

            • +1

@bulletbill88: I remember using a bosch cordless drill, the battery then wasnt lithium and would run out before even drilling an inch. Been trying to drill 4 holes in a brick wall. After couple of weeks i decided to get wired ozito, cause its cheap, and fck me each hole wouldnt even take me couple of minutes to drill about 8 inches.

              • +1

@Mark365: yeah …. cordless is convenient BUT corded is more power and all day long ….

its why dealt now have 56V range, and others have some 36V (18x2 batteries) ….

its why I have corded and cordless drills.

            • @bulletbill88: Try a rotary hammer drill. Even a cordless should do the job in a few seconds.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I've got an Ozito cordless (brushless) one which goes through my house bricks like butter. May say more about my house than the drill.

      • +3

don't know why you were negged for asking that. Have an upvote from me.

        • Yeah, seems to me to be a reasonable question that has prompted valuable comments from others. I'm upvoting too.

    • Edit: Sorry, think I have a different model actually so my experience may not be useful.

    • Should be decent. It's the blue range which is designed for tradie use

    • +8

if u want to drill through concrete, get a sds hammer drill, the ones that take a sds bit, those go through concrete very quickly, havent seen a drill driver hammer drill through concrete

      • ^ this

      • +8

havent seen a drill driver hammer drill through concrete

I have. Well, I've seen one start to do it a few years ago. Not sure if it's finished yet.

      • +1

rotary is a hammer impact /chisel action, the other hammer drills are impact /sinusoidal action which doesn't transfer the impact as well.

    • +4

Hammer drills like this (with a chuck) are next to useless; what you want is a rotary hammer that uses sds drill bits.

    • This has 55 / 21 Nm. Compare to M18 Fuel M18BLPD2 82Nm.

    • +1

A rotary drill isn’t worth it unless you plan on drill dozens of holes everyday.

This kit is fine for the weekend warrior.

  • +6

    Come on ryobi, match it

  • Nice.. Thanks for the post.. Just got 1 to pickup.. Hopefully it comes with the tool bag

  • +11

    If you want Brushless
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/bosch-blue-18v-brushless-3-piece…
Usual price of $399 according to Pricehipster

    • +1

      What is the difference?

      • +11

No carbon brushes, spins with magnets, less wear and tear, longer life span, slightly more powerful and efficient (lasts longer on the same battery)

    • +1

      Yep, the brushless version $230

    • Thanks - much prefer this one and definitely worth the extra $80.

    • Thanks got this one. Also, this one is not eligible for the promotion :(

On another note do these come with the belt hook? The image shows there being one attached but I can't find it anywhere in the box.

      • Yeah I didn't get one either, just has the strap on the impact drill

      • The impact drill had a belt hook and strap. The hammer drill did not have either.
Now I want the Bluetooth connector although I don't really have a reason and they are $50.

  • +1

Does the hammer drill have the side handle? I assumed they all did until I got one without recently. Makes it very hard to use when "hammering".

    • No. It doesnt have the collar and drill dept rod. The model that has that is the GSB destroyer which has a metal chuck.
This hammer drill is for light weight drilling.

    • If you want a HD hammer drill, this combo might be better suited.
Not sure why it says 5Ah when it includes 4Ah and 2Ah batteries. $268.

      https://www.blackwoods.com.au/power-tools/cordless-power-too…

    • Hammer settings never get used on these drills, it's just not what they're meant for.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the similar but brushless Dewalt combo around $360?

  • Excellent deal, very tempted. Might be on clearance since they are older models.
Batteries are approx $60-80 each. Each skin esp the GDR is about $100-$120

  • Would love Ryobi to do this! Don't want to change my tool ecosystem

  • I just need a drill for wood and metal studs, would these be okay?

  • +5

For diy around the home, is it worth it to pay little more for the $230 brushless version? https://www.bunnings.com.au/bosch-blue-18v-brushless-3-piece…

    • +1

      What are advantages of brushless?

    • +6

Absolutely beneficial, irrespective of your preferred brand of tools.

I've got the Ozito brushless drill, and it's a magnitude more effective than any brushed drill I've had. I'm still weighing up whether to upgrade my impact driver to brushless as well (given I use both equally) but I'm sitting on the fence for an ALDI deal… to convince Bunnings to reduce prices.

2x brushless tools for $230 is a much better choice! My only caveat is I have no experience with the variety and deals on other Bosch skins and batteries to increads your tool range, others might have some insight here though.

      • Where's this Aldi deal you speak of?

        • Usually, Bunnings will price match the Ozito stuff a week or two prior to an ALDI catalogue sale on their Infinity tools.

I managed to pickup the 5-piece set (circular saw, grinder, torch, drill, impact driver, 2x batteries + charger) for $199! Then I'll try and grab a 4.0Ah battery or two when they get dropped to $40 to match whenever they come up as well. I've not seem any deals recently though… maybe there's one coming soon (hopefully)?

      • +1

$230 for the brushless set is excellent and I'd advise anyone to get that if able to

overall the Bosch ecosystem isn't the best value imo- expensive tools and batteries, and most of their tools aren't class leading in their field (eg. the makita, milwaukee and dewalt impact wrenches kick bosch's ass)

But this is an excellent buy, especially with the handy little worklight and two batteries.

    • +1

      Very tempting.

I would say if you can afford it then it's a much better deal

    • Thank you.

    • +3

for DIY around the home go Ozito Power X Change (Ozito red)
half the price, more range, better specials, cheaper batteries

Bosch Blue are tarde quality. Overkill for home DIY.

    • Only $80 more and you won't be like me everytime OZBargain posts another Bosch deal and wanting to jump on it. (Already have a brushed Bosch from years ago)

    • No

  • +8

Damn it I've already got more drills and impact drivers than most ozbargainers have eneloops.

    • mate…..it's time to prepare for christmas gifts…..

  • Solid deal. Purchased, thanks OP.

  • Does online purchase come with the tool bag, which OP mentioned? Anyone knows?

    • Yes as the bag is inside the box housing all components.

  • +2

go brushless guys. so much better!

    • +3

Why is that? The price difference is by no means justified as the difference is about 5% in efficiency but about 100% in price

      • More durable. Carbon brushes wear out.

If you abuse the drill you will smell it smoking for a brushed version. I reckon the brushless one will probably last a lifetime, particularly given it's Bosch and the blue range

        • +4

Carbon brushes wear out but cost a couple of dollars to replace. I've rescued several power tools that people threw out because they stopped working. They've been running fine for several years since I got them.

        • Wear out from what? Use it as a fan?! If your DIY I doubt you wear out brushes. It's more likely a trade person who drills all day long wear them out.

      • You speak as one who has not held PURE TORQUE in your hands before

        • +9

No, I speak as someone who understands the people here. Whoever asks about the difference between brushless and not most definitely doesn't need brushless tools.

  • +11

just in time for mothers day

    • One for her and one for you.

    • I tried this as a suggested gift. The response was "No really? But I guess so"

      • maybe she thought you were talking about giving her, a drill.

  • Any recommendations for drill driver and impact driver set?
    I don’t believe I need a hammer drill.

    • +1

Just switch of the hammer function

      • Wouldn’t that make the hammer drill act as an impact drill?
Furthermore none of these can be used with furniture screws as per my understanding.

        • +4

The torque control at the front (the bit with the numbers on in behind the chuck where you put the drill bits in) changes between hammer, normal drill and screw-driver. You turn it to the hammer logo for hammer drill, the drill logo for normal drill and to whatever number setting you want (looks like between 1-15) for torque for using it for screws.

          • @syba: Thanks for the tip. I always thought I needed a drill driver and impact driver combo if I didn’t need to drill masonry.
Based in this then this is a better combo. Comes down to if I want to spend extra for brushless.
Any idea how this compares to Aldi combo sets?
I am not in a rush as I can wait till June end if better deals may become available around then.

            • +1

@bashar20: This would be much better than Aldi

        • +1

          Look at https://shop.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/product/cordless-c…
You can see the photo which shows where you change between hammer/drill/screw (make google your friend!) :)

  • i just want to ask how this compares to the ozito PXC kit for 169. I understand bosch is a more superior brand than ozito but I just wanted to hear the communities thoughts and expertise. in no way I am using this for building and construction but for general diy use around the house.

    thanks

    • Absolutely zero complains as an Ozito brushless user - plenty of skins that are cheap, discounts thanks to ALDI - but I can't comment on a comparision to Bosch having not used them.

At least Bunnings should have replacement stock in the event of a warranty claim for both these brands; unlike the ALDI Infinity range which you simply can't just walk in for a replacement tool if it breaks halfway through a project.

    • +4

I've owned a Bosch blue drill and driver combo for around 5 years. I've used them for everything you can imagine including major reno work, furniture making and repairing, basic home duties like putting up curtain rods, hanging picture hooks etc and I've used the driver also for working on my car. They've performed exceptionally and have copped a lot of abuse and are still going strong. I'm tempted to upgrade to the brushless kit but honestly my current Bosch set are still working great. I highly recommend them.

  • +1

Worth it for the batteries and charger, i wouldn't buy otherwise because they aren't brushless motors.

  • Nice got the ozito impact drill. 150nm vs 160nm. Good for screwing in fence palings.

    • Nice to hear that someone else screws on recalcitrant fence palings. Nailing them back on is a complete waste of time and invariably damages the palings.

  • What’s the tool bag look like?

    Anyone else received one?

  • purchased one of those batterys for $125 last week… ergh…

    • +1

Could buy the kit and return one of these batteries as new if you have battery box and receipt…

      • I will try this! … otherwise i'll feel forever jipped

      • got the refund without any hassles.. thanks for this!

  • -2

Why is Bosch selling a "tradie" tool, that isnt built for a tradie?

All that plastic on it SPEW

Looks a good deal for DIY tho

  • Anyone got a deal on a multitool wireless?

  • I need a hammer drill that drill into brick easily, would the Ozito cordless hammer drill does the job? I have lots Ozito tools at home.

    • I have one and it's useless on concrete walls..

    • If its for just brick any hammer drill will do. If you have to do tons of holes / harder materials its worth to look for SDS drills

  • Should we buy the brush less $230 Borsch or wait until there's an equivalent Makita set?

  • Serious bargain.

I have the older 2aH battery set, solid kit.

  • are these made in Germany?

    • No.
