The 'more info' link on that article is enlightening.

The line between US policy and cruel joke has become fuzzy lately.

Honestly a single battery system would be one of the less stupid things they've done. In the same way EU mandated a single phone connector (and effectively enforcing the usb protocol) this battery change could work. Would be hectic for a while however.

      • The article is hilarious though -

A leaked memo from Milwaukee Tool called the mandate “a government overreach that drills right through free market principles.”

Imagine a world where your cordless saw, your neighbor’s hedge trimmer, and your contractor’s impact driver all run on the same battery

Critics, however, see the mandate as a power grab wrapped in green packaging

I like the Rockwell tools. Have quite a few but not an impact driver as I have a Kogan one. Tempted to get this just to match the rest of my tools but will hold off. Don't need another battery and charger, just the drill

  • Does this battery match up to any other systems please?

    • +1

yes there is a ozbargain post on this here - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/591076
Essentially works with Toolpro (from supercheap auto) and Worx. The battery, chargers and tools mostly fit together but there are specific combinations that dont work. Best bet is you have 1 charger and battery from each brand.

I have multiple combinations from Rockwell and toolpro that work together but its too complicated to explain.

I'm in this ecosystem and highly recommend this when they are on deals like this or half price deals

    • if I need something I usually look at cash converters. They really struggle to move Rockwell and some toolpro products so there are some good sales.
