Bosch Blue 18V Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Kit - $150 @ Bunnings

2320

Includes
1 X 18V 13mm Hammer Drill GSB 18V-21
1 X 18V 1/4" Impact Driver GDR 18V-160
2 X 18V 3.0Ah Batteries
1 X Fast Charger GAL 1880 CV

Just picked one up from Bunnings Sunshine (VIC) which included a tool bag (which doesn't appear to be shown in the link). It was listed for $319 in-store.

Seems good value for a well known brand. Seems to be nationwide.

EDIT: unfortunately Bosch confirmed this purchase is not eligible for their tax time promo

Good luck!

  • Thank you, I have ordered one for click and collect.
    Really good price.

  • This is great value.

Thought the 1/4 driver is not very torquey but good enough for everyday home duties.

  • +1

    Solid 1st post OP 👍

  • +1

Even though I'd recommend brushless as well, this is still awesome value. Even for the batteries alone.

  • Any promotions eligible for free gift for this?

    • I noticed on another site that theres a bonus angle grinder for 18volt kits but i wont bet my test tickles on it.
Maybe someone else can confirm,Bunnings just rung me and said a bloke just came in and bought 3 sets and i have to go to another store 20 minutes away,no big deal just can't do it tonight….

    • +1

Looks like neither the brushed or brushless drills are in the eligible tools for redemption based on the selections at the bottom of this page unless I missed something.
      https://www.bosch-pt.com.au/au/en/tax-time/

      • Yes, they're the older range, hence why they're on clearance.

    • Unfortunately no (maybe remove it from the description?)

The code is 0615990J6J, the 18V combos eligible for promotion are: 0615990L5F (only total tools), 0615990J6Y, 0615990L24.

Any recommendations for a drill kit to go with these? For basic stuff around the house

  • Hi guys, does this worth buying for normal home use? Probably might use once or twice a year :) Please advise

    • Get this one. It is worth as Bosch Blue is professional and high quality tools. Price is not much different with normal brand. You can charge battery, leave it in warehouse and pick up after few months, battery is still full and can be used immediately.

    • Yes. Buy it. You won't regret it

  • Anyone know if the impact driver (brushed or brushless versions) could handle wheel nuts? I know it's not designed for this.

I have a corded impact wrench and an air impact wrench but cords are annoying

    • You need an impact wrench (like your corded one), not an impact driver.
I've got a big 18V DeWalt one and even that takes a bit to break some wheel nuts off, depending on how tight they've been done up.

      • Ok bummer.

Was hoping to ditch the cords and hoses.

        • Probably need something like this if going Bosch but I'm sure there's better value out there. I don't think any of compact ones would have enough grunt unless you're going to break them first but it defeats the purpose.

  • Just ordered what is possible the likely from my local (Pakenham), hope it gets picked for my order before someone else grabs it.

    • call and ask them to hold it for you.

  • how would the brushless hammer drill compare to this Ryobi one?

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-brushless-hammer-d…

I had been eying this off before this deal came along

    • +2

I'd go Bosch blue over that any day

      • Thanks.

        What about spec/performance?

I already have rotary SDS drill so after something cordless and easier to use for smaller jobs

  • Any update on the tool bag bonus?
    Any verification?

I’m at Bunnings now, do I ask for it?

    • +1

Hi, the toolbag was included in the box the drills came in when I went in store.

      • What he said. Same

    • Inside the cardboard outter box, you should see the bag right away.
      It houses everything inside.

  • +2

Oh the bag is included inside the kit folks.

    I’m at Bunnings now.
    1 x 18v fast charger
    2 x 18v batteries
    1 x Bosch tool bag
    1 x drill
    1 x impact

    • Does the brushless kit come with the tool bag as well? Still struggling with brush kit or brushless one. Thx

      • +1

Yeah both are essentially in the same box

  • Do these ones need brushes to be replaced? Sorry for the lame question

  • Scored one, thanx OP. Was 3 left at Hoppers, now 2.

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSS I literally sped to Bunnings to grab one of the Brushless set for $230 . The guy who opened up the cabinet was surprised at how cheap this is. The price was not updated yet at the shops. He only knew once he scanned the item

  • The Brushless comes with a handly light as well , great for fishing trips

This looks like a good price for the batteries alone. I paid more for a similar kit with much smaller batteries this morning (but an extra 5Ah).

    https://www.totaltools.com.au/134765-bosch-procore18v-2-piec…

Not sure how the drills/drivers compare as Bosch has a habit of having different generations of tools even with the same model number :/

EDIT: In fact looking at the images side by side even with the same model they flat out look different.

    • I cancelled my original order and bought the Bunnings kit for $530 this morning.. I thought I got a good deal…

Looks like it was $299 for the same kit last year which is just INSANE.. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/457984

Oh well.. Seems COVID-19 times and the crappy dollar has made some deals a lot worse lately.

  • Brushless and extra light for $80?

    Thoughts?

    • +2

I can find a need for the light so I am leaning towards that deal, with no need for the light then the other offer probably better. Both drill sets are $169off. So paying full price for light I guess. This deal gives a better % discount if that helps decision making.

      • +1

That helps. This kit will do me fine.

        Thanks

    • +3

Other offer is better if you are going to use them a half decent amount. Both tools have more grunt, batteries will last longer and are likely lighter being brushless. If they're only going to get used a couple of times a year, you don't really need to spend more than this deal.

  • +1

I had to pull the trigger on this. What a sweet bit of kit for the money. At that price it's absolutely great value, just a battery & charger would normally set you back that amount.

It does come with a nice soft case, zippered and even has a bonus 12V battery as well (although that doesn't fit either of the tools lol). You must register online for the extended (6 year) warranty, and can download certificates of registration in PDF (you should also scan your receipt and keep them all together).

Absolutely perfect kit for domestic use around the house, even some moderate renovation work would be fine.

    • +1

Now you can grab a heated jacket to use the 12v battery lol

      • Heya? Good idea, what jackets will it fit?

        • I think they only make this one
No idea how good it is, not exactly cheap…

          • @whitelie: Thx mate, perfect! Just got to find a cheap charger for that battery now lol…

            • +1

@redler: Maybe throwing in a cheap battery is their way of upselling. Buy a $150 set, get a "free" battery but spend another $300 on a jacket and charger lol

    • I hope mine has a 12v battery. Otherwise I’ll go return it

  • dam missed it. OOS all stores near me

  • Managed to pick one up at Gordon after quite a few others OOS.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one for C&C

  • Thanks OP, picked one up this evening at Chatswood

  • +1

Ok so seeing as though i've ordered this, any recommendation for drill bits? Just odd jobs at home. Haven't used a drill since high school! Hardwood, brick, and bessa blocks.

    • Yes any advice on drill bits and bits to use as a screwdriver?

  • +2

Don’t forget to register at https://www.bosch-pt.com.au/au/en/service/warranty/ to get your certificates to extend warranty on each skin and battery to 6 years.

  • I think I have missed out. I placed a click and collect order with Castle Hill Store as they had 20 in store.
But calling this morning they said they are sold out.

The incompetent lady in Dural claimed they had 4 in cabinet this morning so I drove there immediately to be told all sold out yesterday by the tools section guys and they are puzzled who told me they had 4 in cabinet.

ooh well, I guess I have to wait for the next crazy deal on drills.

    • Yes, I'm hoping I'm not missing out on mine because I posted it!

  • OMG I just bought one, and I don’t even need a drill. I’ve been Ozbargained >.<

    • you should be able to sell/trade it

  • I ordered last night for click and collect and got a call from bunnings Rouse Hill now that they dont have it. They still check which has stock left

  • I got a call from Bunnings too saying that they don't have it. They said the ETA is end of May but the promotion runs out on 3rd of May. So it may not be the same price.

  • wrong deal

  • Could someone please help on the option to select to claim the free gift?

    https://www.boschbluecrew.com.au/Promotions

    I couldn’t find the exact product :(

    • Pretty sure both this and the brushless version don't qualify for the promo.
That's for the new models/kits that are replacing these ones.

      • thanks mate!

  • Saw some blokes on Scumtree, bought this kit then split it all up selling the bits individually.

    • Same with fb marketplace

    • Happens all the time, there's one regular on marketplace near me that does it constantly with Ryobi kits.

      • Some guy has the following listed:

        Drill skin $90
        Hammer skin $90
        Charger $120
        Battery $80

        Can't believe it!!

      • One in Scumtree Brisbane:

        Gsb skin $110
        Gdr skin $100
        Older listing
        3ah batt $60
        Charger $65

Bunnings Coburg has about 25 in stock right now that isn't visible on the website. Go and get em.

  • +1

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/bosch-blue-18v-3-piece-with-2-x-…

This kit could be a good alternative for people who missed out. Sell the angle grinder if you don't need it. Comes with 4.0Ah battery instead of the 3.0Ah

  • Picked mine up this afternoon, comes in a nice carry bag. Also has a 12v bonus battery which i guess is the 10.8v 2.5ah in the case which doesn't fit the drills, weird extra

    • Just picked mine up didn't get the extra battery

  • +1

FYI for anyone who is in VIC, coburg has about 12 or so left this morning at 8.30am. Just picked mine up.

  • went to pick mine up but no stock. Someone picked up two. So pissed.

  • 2 left in Reynella SA, as of 20 minutes ago.

  • Does anyone have a picture of how it all fits in the carry bag? I know this sounds stupid but I just picked mine up (chaotic story, I'll save that for another time) and set everything on charge, but now I cant for the life of me fit it into the bag the way it came!

  • One kit available at NSW Rockdale.

I bought the $230 brushless kit and they tried to give me this one! LOL.

  • Please help.
I picked my kit earlier today. My GSB 18V-21 gives a spark where the motor is when I stop holding the power button. Is this normal?
I just noticed the GDR18v-160 is the same but a bit less obvious.
Or is this the effect of the brushes stopping?
    https://imgur.com/gallery/BJMMfav

Also my GDR is missing the metal clip holder. Did anyone get the metal holder for the impact drill?

    • Yes its normal for all carbon brush based motors. I didnt get the metal holder either. Did with the drill so maybe its that way.

      • I didn't get the metal holder with any of the drills in the kit.
what do you mean by did with the drill?

        • I got the metal belt clip with the GSB drill. I did not get the metal clip with the GDR Impact wrench.

        • hmmm i didnt get any metal clips too

          • @clartan2015: Can you take a photo of the GSB with the mount clip removed. Just want to confirm it looks like mine.

            Here is mine:
            https://imgur.com/a/m8gWUI2

            • @bashar20: Hi mate. Sorry I think I might have mislead, as the GSB I have is the brush-less model from the $230 deal.
              GSB 18V-60C.

              • @pegasusx: I believe I am missing a belt metal clip for the GDR and you are missing one for the GDR too.

                • @bashar20: Its all over the place. My kit was open when I picked up from Bunnings. Think this deal and other $230 deal really messed up the C&C staff.

                  • @pegasusx: Bosch replied to my email and asked me to send them my address to send the missing Metal clip.

  • Just picked up the last one from Altona late this evening. Thx OP

  • Does anyone know how this compares to this one:

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/aeg-18v-4-0ah-2-piece-combo-kit_…

Haven't read very good things about Aeg chucks and batteries. On paper it looks better with 4amp batteries but wondering if anyone knows whether this Bosch will be better?

    • The AEG would be better but it is twice the price than this deal was.
The $230 Bosch deal would be better than the AEG as they were brushless so the slightly smaller batteries would still last longer.
