  • I got it too.. And another reward.. Free fries and drink with big Mac/quarter pounder purchase

Unless it's the 5.95 dbl beef bacon maccas deal, then you are spot on. Just too expensive compared to other fast food.

      • +3

        It's $4.95 in some states.

      • Yup, used to be ok when family burger boxes were on the app but since they have taken that away it’s hard to find value with these % off deals

        • +1

You can order the family boxes using the kiosk in store and scan the discount, at least I have a few times.

          • @Daabido:

Can confirm that this is possible

    • KFC is usually more expensive than Maccas. I prefer KFC. But Maccas have far more cheap options. Especially if you have the app.

i also got it, there's one lunch sorted this week, cheers OP

& Get 20% of Your Order via Mymacca’s app

How is getting only ⅕ of your order a deal?

    • +3

Reminded me of the time when I ordered online and they forgot half my order. Though that was 50% of my order!

    • +4

      That's 80% off!

      Deal!

    • -4

Don't take the deal and pay the full price over the counter. Simple

  • I got it too and hardly ever go there.

  • +10

24 nuggies with anything cheap (maybe tartare sauce for 40c) will be $8.28 after discount.

    • +1

McFlurry is $2 for me, so $1.60 :D

      • I wanttttt

    • 24 nuggets is $11.95 at my local now….

  • Probably good for 24 nuggets at $9.95? Still need to add something cheap, but brings it down to about $8 with discount

    • +3

If only you were 12mins earlier

      • +1

Yeah, xaykogeki beat me to it!

  • Got the offer.

  • +2

    Wasn't it 25%?

    • Yes it did used to be 25%

      • +3

20% less discount than 25% deal = Now 20% off, which is 6.7% more.

        I'm gonna lay-down for a bit.

    • +1

Good point, I remember receiving the 25% discount deal also which makes this now less attractive…

  • +3

Does anyone know why those family sets are not listed on the app?

    • +1

If I recall the boxes disappeared during a period when they were offering these discounts reasonably frequently, so I'm guessing they didn't want people discounting the boxes.

      • +2

the boxes are still available in house arent they? so you could theoretically still use these discounts on them?

        • +5

Yep, Family McValue Box would come down to $15.95 (scan bar-code in store)
Pick 2 burgers: Big Mac, McChicken, Quarter Pounder
Pick 2 burgers: Cheeseburger, Chicken 'n' Cheese
          4 x small fries
          4 x small soft drinks $19,95

And Family McFavourites Box would come down to $22.35 (scan bar-code in store)
Choice of any 4 burgers: Big Mac, McChicken, Quarter Pounder, Cheeseburger, Chicken 'n' Cheese
          4 x medium fries
          10 x Chicken McNuggets
          4 x medium soft drinks $27,95

McFavourites Box is definitely worth the extra $6.40 in my opinion.

          • @billy_bob: Definitly worth paying the extra $6, for the extra nuggets, larger fries/drinks and choice of burgers.

          • @billy_bob: My local mecca is $29.95 for the favourite box tho. Ordered it with +$3 for grass feed Beef burger.

          • @billy_bob: The McValue Box is now ~$25 at my local Maccas

            • +1

@FareEvader: Yes, I got the Family McFavourites Box last night and it has gone up to $29.95 ! Still came down to $23.95 with the 20% off but not as good value anymore without the 20% off.

        • I've noticed the app discounts won't work on the kiosks at some stores. So annoying because ordering on the app is slow. I tried the front counter for a mcclassics offer I got and got directed to the kiosk, which didn't accept it.

          • +4

@Levathian: Just in case this is the case, you might want to check if those malfunctioning kiosks got the "coronavirus bug" in the latest kiosk software update, the one where it adds a warning at the beginning of your order. If so, you have to press "Start" to enter the ordering screen and only then can you enter your code.

(Rant: It's been like this for a month and the McDonalds employees and managers still don't know about the bug, despite some being informed about it. This is why the coronavirus economic catastrophe should result in a national purge and re-hiring of only competent people in "thinking jobs". Probably 80% of the Australian population is non-essential to the workforce on an intellectual level and a detriment to productivity, and there are chronic "bugs" in corporations and government that ruin all our lives, due to having stupid people in charge).

This is separate to mobile-order-only rewards.

  • +3

I got the offer, but their app is a POS. I've already had to uninstall/reinstall twice in a month. Loses its mind mid-way through an order, and can't ever reset.

I only got it for the 'coffee card' aspect. And so long as I only use it for showing/advising the code for that, it's fine.

  • +3

What doesn't make sense is the overwhelming appreciation for this deal compared with other McDonalds deals.

In fact, I can't name a McDonalds reward that gave as little as 20% off or less, and they also never required spending at least $8. Many deals give over $2 off spending much less than $10.

I suppose if you're the type that orders from the special menu or for a family it's better than nothing. But $10 (or $8 post discount) on lunch is heading into the territory of what rich people spend going to burger and kebab joints.

For people new to the McDonalds app, you can still sign up to get the 1 for $1 deal, which can be a cheeseburger, medium hot drink or medium sundae. Last month they also accidentally gave out $5 to new users without having to use a Visa card first. The bugginess of the app can work in your favour sometimes…

    • Yeah they used to send me regular 2for1 or 2 for $6 big mac deals or $3 mcclassics which is better value than this deal.

  • Makes the family dinner box decent value..

  • How much do I have to pay to get 100% of my order?

  • Don’t eat at MCD often but with the favourites box could I swap the drink for juices? Thanks

    • +2

      Yes

      • IIRC they charge extra for Juice swap. Or was that the Value box only?

        So Fave box swaps free?

  • Wonder if you can stack with the $5 off first time when you add a visa ?

    • I guess that the offer u are talking about is 5$ cashback in the app (or a voucher) and not 5$ off straightaway.

    • +1

From my experience their vouchers are not stackable, so will have to do separate orders.

  • +1

Already used it today.. and it dispeared from my rewards.. I guess you can only use it once.

    • Yes so the rewards are one time use only. But you can just create more accounts to get more rewards ;)

  • Combined this offer with the $7.90 small Big Mac + cheese burger deal that I’ve kept reordering (since winning it for $5 in the Mini Games promo). I bought 3 for $18.96.

  • That's my outing for the week sorted!

  • Terrible app. Have to tick "I want to receive emails from Maccas" to signup, and now trying to reset password is not working. It says email sent, but it's not, not in spam either.

The 2 star rating on Google Play store is warranted. Don't these companies listen to feedback?

The website says "under maintenance" - https://mcdonalds.com.au/mymaccas/maintenance

Of course it's a great idea to release a 20% off deal, then upgrade your website midweek, during lunchtime, during business hours.

    Go Maccas Corporation!

    • Two star, that's generous.

One star would be more appropriate

    • Wow glad to see I'm not the only one who gets issues with this app.
