    Thanks.

    Got one last time.

    Works really well

  • Was about to buy until i read reviews 50% loge it 50% say it breaks down jams just stops working altogether

  • Lol this is nearly ten times more expensive than a printer, which you could print on adhesive paper

    • Would be fine for a small number of items to post, no faster than standard paper and tape though which is cheaper and also what im currently doing.

      • For 10c each, if you're already printing an invoice out that has the mailing details, I'd just use the self-adhesive plastic slips

        https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32888063063.html?spm=a2g0o.p…

        • So like three times more expensive Than the label printer.

          • @Axelstrife: Depends how many times you're using the printer, cost of the labels, cost of printing the invoice on another printer, paper to print it on etc

If you're a high volume business, it might make sense still

            • @toristo: Yours is 10c plus whatever the printer toner and paper cost is

Thermal paper is 3c each label

              • @Axelstrife: Let's say $0.15 - assume black and white laser for each one. You could do up to 1320 of them to equal the price of the printer - below that quantity, you're probably better off with the DIY option. Above that, label printer for sure.

                • @toristo: Right now im printing on paper and using packing tape to stick it to the bag, box whatever, this method is the cheapest way but it's a time consuming to cut out the Australia post label then stick it to the packaging.
I just worked out the cost per package taking into account, Paper, Tape, Toner to be
                  $0.0291 per package.

Your idea taking into account the paper, toner and those plastic slips would cost
                  $0.1557 per package

The label Printer roll's (aftermarket labels, not genuine as they are a massive rip off) would cost $0.0295 per package

Even adding the extra cost the label printer cost's over the price Officeworks sells a label printer the label printer option is still cheaper.

remember the label printer you only have to buy the label rolls it doesn't use ink.

With adhesive paper on regular printers you still have to factor in the cost of ink/toner as well.

When I was using adhesive paper my cost per label was 2.95c (bulk packs of 4000) each printed.

With a thermal printer it's down to 2.83c (bulk packs of 3960) so actually slightly cheaper although pretty negligible. The big difference for me is in the amount of time it's saving me.

What it really comes down to is your needs.

If you're only printing a few labels every so often then adhesive paper is the way to go.

If you're printing thousands of labels a year then a thermal printer is a hell of a lot more convenient and the amount of time you save will easily outweigh the initial cost of the printer.

      • Meanwhile JV labelling his bananas 🍌

        Fully agree with you there.
I costed our procedure at warehouse and buying this and bulk rolls from amazon/fleabay worked out bit cheaper than bulk sticky labels through a copier/printer.
Add in the easy way of book job out with freight partner eg: toll, aus post, fastways etc then slap it on box the dymo wins by a big margin.
Wish id found out couple years earlier as i woulda saved shitloads on some massing shipping we did..

        • The thermal doesn't get ink rub if wet either.

      • Where do you source the labels in bulk?

        • +2

Third-party labels from eBay. 18x rolls of 220 labels for $111.95 delivered.

Works out to just $6.22 a roll. Great saving compared to the Dymo branded roll going for ~$50

There's a bunch of them on eBay if you search for S0904980 or SD0904980, but pretty sure the one above is the best bulk price on there at the moment.

Just a heads up on generic labels…
          1. Make sure has encoder print on rear.. black lines itc as printer needs this(my first big box of them had missing so wouldnt work but amazon refunded)
          2. The glues on non genuine are not as good as dymo so make sure to rub sticker down good so its doesnt fall off.. not a drama as long as your aware of it..
          3. Enjoy the ease of shipping this way saving a bit of coin 👍😊

          • @roosterman: Actually one thing I was looking for was a lighter tackiness for easy removal. We use these stickers as temporary service stickers mostly.

  • Im just gonna buy brother QL810w or QL-820NWB wireless seems to have better reviews

    • Too small to print the Aus post labels so useless for my needs, and there larger model is almost double the price.

    • They won't print the same size labels that this can.

      • -1

Lol they won't print the labels at all if you read the reviews.

        According to Brother dk pdf

        It's prints 105mm h x 160mm wide

        Dymo inch conversion

        105mm h x 159mm wide

Where's the difference? 1mm ? In brother's favour ? I expect the brother just prints in portrait, no big deal..

        From original post

Dymo Print labels up to 4.16" wide, including 4.1" x 6.275" shipping labels

Read Dk roll catalogue pdf even shows actual real size of labels

        https://www.brother.com.au/en/products/all-labellers/labelle…

        • From the page you linked: "Available Tape Widths - up to 62mm"

From the Dk Roll Catologue on labels above 62mm: "*For QL-1110NWB, QL-1100, QL-1060N and QL-1050 only"

I do love my Brother label maker though.

    • Neither printer you mentioned can print 4 x 6 shipping labels.

And? ofc more bad experiences will be posted about it vs good experiences.

      • That many ,? Even productreview ONLY has couple reviews they are all negative

  • Will officeworks price match it?
