    ugh…pulse? as the first…?
    why not live at pompeii!?

    • because you already have it. what more do you want?

      • …thought they could have started with some rarer earlier stuff (60s-70s)than mid 90s
looking at the setlist its mostly material from their earlier decades anyway! :)

Pulse was awesome… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hokGXqEsCXk - 1:25:38 makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end…every time. Brilliant, smooth and captivating. Dave Gilmour is a guitar LEGEND.

      • i'll give it a watch over this weekend sometime ;)

Do you guys consider the band even without Waters?

    • +2

      Not really.

    • +10

As long as David Gilmour is there I'm good.

      • +1

Here here.. While Roger was a key part, the band has survived without him. Guy Pratt is a worthy bass player.

    • +1

      For me, totally.
The quality took a dip for sure but I guess the alternative was for Gilmour to quit.
Then it would have truly been a Waters solo project under the Floyd name with hired help.
This way we got the best of both worlds if they really could not work together as a foursome anymore.

    • PF without Waters = no DSotM (horrific)
PF without Waters = no Division Bell (sad)
PF with barely Gilmour = The Final Cut (I urge you to relisten and take note of the content particularly the title track and Two Suns In… and let me know if it doesn’t move you)

Both played their part in a yin/yang way. Both still great on their own, but together they are magic.

I loved and love The final cut with all my heart. Great music, great sound and the holophonic novelty it was really something using headphones.

    • Sure. The music speaks for itself without Waters actually performing. FWIW I saw Waters in Adelaide 2018 and he was brilliant. I've seen 2 different PF tribute bands since then and both were brilliant. The common denominator….the music. The Pulse concert is fabulous despite the mediocre video. I've got it on BD so might not bother with the YT offering (unless it's been enhanced in some way???).

Fond memories of working as an usher at this pulse gig in London. Walking across Hyde park to Earls’ Court for the soundcheck, where I’d skip the pre start meeting and instead sit right up front for my own personal concert. For the main event it was time to duck off for a scoob and then back down the front for a night of wonder. Good times.

    • Cool story!

      • Thanks,it was about 8 nights working for £10 a night. I’d have happily paid them. The first night was a disaster zone when part of the scaffolding holding up the seating collapsed with hundreds falling to the ground as the first song started. It was amazing that no one died but I do remember a later concert with a lot of injured people in neck braces and the like.

          That's terrible. I hope you didn't build that :)

          +12 says we're all jealous!

I bet that's a fond memory! Lucky man

Mark Knopfler (lately of Dire Straights) farewell concerts from multiple Euro cities in 2019 well worth a look. The Barcelona concert features some excellent touristy footage (sigh, miss all that don't we .. :-( .. !!)
