I looked at getting one of these a month or so ago when Clive Peters? had them for that price. If I remember correctly, it's a Celeron 2.0GHz (1GB RAM?) Vista Home Basic. I decided that it may be a great price, but I was concerned that it would be an unusable dog to use with Vista aboard. Eventually settled on a DELL Vostro with T7250 Core2Duo 2.0 GHz / 2GB RAM / Vista Home Basic / onboard video; for around $800, which runs happily enough just surfing & printing & maybe MS Office,, but I expect it to bog down badly if asked to multi-task heavily or do anything demanding.

[ :- { )hi, just wondering where did you get your dell laptop from? I mean around $800 for the specs given is awesome.
DELL Vostro 1500 - 15.4" / Intel T7250 / 2.0GHz 2MB cache / 2GB RAM / 160GB HDD / wireless "g" / bluetooth option / webcam / free high cap' battery upgrade / cheap monitor upgrade / audio s'ware upgrade = $810 after 5% RACQ/NRMA discount coupon. Same price at Westfield Kiosk as DELL online. $99 option for 19" Wide TFT monitor + 2 x Belkin "Gold" 8way Surge Protector @ $66 each = $1040 all up delivered. Ordered about three weeks ago. Going well so far - just surfing / printing over w'less + installed MS Office for kid's homework. Picked up a nice MS w'less 6000 kybd/mouse at HN EO(financial)Y sale last week 40% off, with MS 30% rebate to come ($45 net v $150 RRP). Also scored $10 net MS webcam & $15 net w'less notebook mouse.
Cheers,

dse site is not working now, but not bad on specs, good value for under 500$ vista laptop.
PROCESSOR – Intel Celeron processor 550 2.0GHz

OPTICAL DRIVE - SuperMulti 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support

I think people like Eee PC for it sheer size (portable), so you cant compare that with this 15.4" monster :-).
