I got this last time it was on OzB.

Good card, and bonus points credited promptly (unlike the BMW Gold, grrrr)

    • Yeah I got both cards thanks to OzB. Gave up on the BMW card about 2 months ago, just cancelled it, and stick with the Qantas card now. I've had 40,000 points from the Qantas card so far.

      • I been using this for about 3 year, no annual fee is the key. and no caps. very good card.

  • Not bad at all, if you spend where there's no AMEX surcharge.
Doesn't even look like there's a points cap eithe.

  • hmm looks like a good deal.
for those who have a Qantas frequent flyer card…what kinda flight does 10000 points get you?

    • Brisbane to Canberra or Newcastle is 8000 points - 1 way - 1 adult

      • Adelaide to Melbourne one way economy the same 8000

    • How does Perth to Kalgoorlie 1 way sound LOL!

It will get you from Sydney to Melbourne for $25 taxes.

Best to save them and earn a few more…36,000 plus taxes will get you return to anywhere in Australia from Perth - eg: Perth to Sydney return is 36,000 points plus $48 taxes.

one way Brisbane to Sydney takes 8,000 points, but including taxes its 12,500 points.

  • Thanks fellas…

Doesn't seem like a bad deal, cancelled my other card cause of the annual fee was greater than points earning, this on the other hand will get me somewhere eventually.

  • would ppl rate this as the best amex $0 fee card offer? Bearing in mind I very rarely buy flights with qantas? cheers

    • Yep, easily the best $0 fee one.

    From their site:
"To be eligible for all or part of the 10,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points offer you must be a new Card applicant who does not currently hold any of the Qantas American Express Card products…"

    Damn!!

    • Does anyone know if an ANZ AMEX card that earns Qantas FF points come under a "Qantas American Express Card product"?

      • +1

amex doesn't know about ur bank amex cards.

still, the 10kpts is hard, I can spend $300 and get 7500pt, but the last 2500 is for Qantas spend, ie flights or cargo I think from memory.

        • If you use points for a flight and pay $20 in taxes (ie Melbourne to Sydney) it then counts as Qantas spend, and triggers the points…

      • Radar: no it doesn't, they are different products.

  • So there is no amex points but only quantas FF points?

What’s wrong with the BMW card ? I haven’t had any issues. To get 10,000 points with the BMW AMEX you just need to spend $500 so I find it better than this one as you don't need to book a Qantas flight to get the full benefit.

    • The BMW one has 55 days interest free as well. I don't really know why anyone would get this one at all.

      • Did the BMW one expire a few days ago?

        • Plus, if this is your first-ever American Express Card, you’ll be welcomed with 10,000 Bonus Points4. Simply apply online for the BMW Gold Credit Card, be approved and spend at least $500 on your Card before 31 August 2011 to earn your reward4.

          I'd say yes.

        • Did you have a link to that previous one?

The only one i could find is this one and it seems to work but i didnt go all the way to sign up.

      • Hmm… is the BMW card this link?

        http://www.coastline.bmw.com.au/scripts/main.asp?PageID=2683…

The first two links in google doesnt seem to come up for me for some reason…

As a comparison, is the only difference the 55 days interest free on the BMW card to this AMEX QFF card?

  • +2

theres another card with a 15k promo, but it has an annual fee + 2 qantas club invitations

    • Can you let us know what this other card is?

    • +1

      yes link pls.

  • Has anyone checked out what interest they charge if you do no make the full repayments for the month? Some cards will charge you interest on the whole amount, not just the amount you didn't pay off. So it's not just all about the points.

  • Gah! Is the $50 amex rebate still on? I can't find the bargain link anywhere. If it is I just might go for this. Anyone able to toss me the link to that bargain?

  • For a zero dollar annual fee this isn't a bad deal but…

I took up the Amex platinum card offer with 3pts per 1$ spend in supermarkets earlier this year. Got 10k bonus points by making the minimum spend, and then another 18k bonus points for renewing house & 3rd party insurance with a partner (who were good value anyway). I just redeemed my 80,000 accumulated Amex reward points with the Velocity 20% extra deal to give me 100k frequent flyer points accumulated in less than 12 months without trying too hard.

I reckon my platinum Amex is better than this Qantas Amex, but I pay an annual fee for it….just sayin'

to get the 7.5k bonus point, you need to spend $300, so what u need to do is register this card with this promotion http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/50042 then spend $300 to get the $50 cash back. so you will fullfill the rule no 1 and 2 to get 7500 bonus point

  • Minimum income is something like 30k for this card.

  • bah. well this is going to be my first time playing the ff game. lets see how the chicken goes.

    • Approved on the last day. Phew. :) AFAIK if you don't get approved by today you don't get the points.

  • Offer extended to 31 January 2012.
To be eligible for all or part of the 10,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points offer you must be a new Card applicant who does not currently hold any of the Qantas American Express Card products, apply via the online application by 31 January 2012 , be approved and make the required eligible Card spend(s).
