Has never been the case in the 4 cars I've owned. Also many hardwire kits allow you to adjust the cutoff voltage (11.8-12.4v).
Not sure why I got a neg on my above comment as this is an overpriced solution for something that already exists at less than half the price. You could buy a new car battery for less than the price.
Why do you need this when you can hard wire? Dashcams do not drain that much power from the cars system when the car is not running.
