Doesn't 11.6v almost kill a 12v car battery? I know it's better than nothing but 12.2v makes much more sense.

    • 11.6v won't kill the battery, test on my car, still can start up the engine.

      • +5

The key word is ALMOST. Draining to 11.6v is not good.

This. Go below 12V on too many occasions and you'll significantly shorten its life. Better off with:
At a minimum fixed 12V cutoff for $16.90, or better yet,
Selectable 11.8V to 12.4V cutoff for $20.90 with PATPAT

      • What's the different between these? They're from the same seller but they look the same.
EDIT: Figured it out. They're actually different brands.

      • Many of my client said my hard wire kit of 11.6v was used quite well

  • Store/eBay in title, champ.

edit: you've nearly got it, "SydneyCarSecurity eBay"

    edit 2: Sweet!

  • Note Mini USB, not Micro.

    • Most dash cams are Mini USB powered not micro

I think they had micro-USB at same price. Just message seller.

  • is there instructions to install this?

How to intall this never played with car wiring?

You would want a hardwire kit with solid capacitors instead these cheapy electrolyte capacitors, dies any time. And at least the cut off voltage should be 12v, definitely not 11.6v.

    • Going by experience or hearsay

      • Experience :)

    • These tend to be fastened under the dash (unlike dashcams) so it's not much of a issue. 12v is probably a better cut-off though.

  • I had an auxiliary battery in my car while camping it cut off at 12.0V, next morning after using to many electrical camping accessories my main battery was sitting at 11.9V and it was flat, not damaged just flat. Fortunately I was on a slight hill so I could roll start my car. Most auxiliary battery cut off are around 12.4V!!!! This is the minimum you want your battery level on a cold morning. 11.6V would protect the battery from damage but would be incredibly unlikely to start.
