Happy Year of the Snake Ozbargain fam!

We’re doing a deal on the 8.9” Carplay Dashboard / Instrument cluster at the moment. This is the later version with air conditioning vent passthrough that’s a nice comfort feature. I’ve personally installed over a dozen of these. IMO having access to waze and google maps in your Tesla is a game changer and if you switch cars often at all or share cars within a family then keeping your muscle memory to look forward for your speedo also has some safety benefits.

These screens come with a multitude of features like blindspot assist, vehicle function shortcuts, apple carplay and android auto, and quick at a glance access to data such as your autopilot distance setting, odometer reading, battery percentage + range and more.

Install complexity for this is about a 4/10. A couple of piggyback connectors right under your dash that are plug and play and fully reversible.

As always feel free to reach out with any questions. Hope you all get rich in 2025!

      Only after midnight

      • I would have imagined only after a few drinks

  • Any deal on the 9 inch with the fancy cover? Also how do your devices interoperate with each other? I was considering your centre console button too.

    • You can use VANILLA for 30% off on that as well.

      • Ok, thanks what's the difference? And did you see my other question?

        • If you’re referring to ST480 the difference is just aesthetics.

They are interoperable. If getting both I’d recommend getting the 4 port amd connector as part of the knob package as well to make your install easier.

    Tesla sales plummeting.

And this has what to do with the bargain on this device, or are you just having a ‘Look At Me’ moment??

      • +1

The product is inserted into a Tesla, which has taken a sales hit. Expect more bargains. That's a good thing, right?

        • -2

Sales have only taken a dive as the new model is about to be released and everyone has put the brakes on.

@BatmanAU: Telsa the brand is in the toilet. But I guess I'm not allowed to talk about that, lest I'm accused of self aggrandizing again.

            • +1

@RecklessMonkeys: Well Tesla sales has nothing to do with this being a deal, people who don’t buy or own a Tesla won’t be buying this, so maybe just leave it to a bargain for the people who own one.

              • @BatmanAU: As you say, people who don’t buy or own a Tesla won’t be buying this.

If Tesla sales fall, the proprietary components are like to fall with it.

People are free to buy what they want, of course.

          • @BatmanAU: The mental math is insane

  • Is this owner installable or does the average noob need to get a dealer/mechanic to install?

    • Nublet here, if I had a ~$60K car I wouldn’t be tinkering w it myself personally

      • That’s fair enough mate horses for courses really. It’s not a complex install by any stretch but it is a little time consuming for a first timer.

    • Very much owner installable but there are lots of installers if you don’t want to give it a shot yourself.

I hate elmo as much as the next guy but have driven a number of EVs and also have an EV5 in my driveway right now and unfortunately as much as the guy is detestable the Model 3 and Model Y are still completely unrivaled in their price range. Everyone should vote with their wallets but just know that with most other EVs you will be paying more for less.

EV5 air in my driveway has 50km less range, lower ancap, no powered tailgate, no sunroof, worse sound system, cloth interior, worse software, less OTA updates, less storage space, less torque, worse driving autonomy, no 360 cameras, no heated or dimming mirrors, no ventilated seats, the list just goes on and on.

      • When my Optus coms went down for 28 days straight last month, went to the Telstra shop looking for an alternative, was offered Skylink, was shocked at my reaction, loudly blurted "Aint givin that ***** fascist pig a cent" then sheepishly looked round the shop to see if people were staring.

Are you this passionate about the other billionaires like Gates and Bezos influencing politics, and are also boycotting their products? Aka Windows and Amazon?

      • This… I hate the guy, but Tesla is still topping the EV SUV chart due to the best in that price range and the fact that it is also well within the LCT threshold.

Other brands are still waay too arrogant in their pricing. Hopefully the chinese brands can help other brands drop their price.

        • Hopefully the chinese brands can help other brands drop their price.

The issue here is that buying a $70k car and getting spelling mistakes and bad grammar in your UI seems insane.

          • @bruint: Oh really? What brands are you referring to?

    • You forgot to add transphobe and non-vegan. Come on man, keep up!

  • Which one you recommend for Y with easy installation. Mainly to use waze app.

  • *** INSTALL SATONIC ORIGIONAL WILL BE NOT EFFECTED TESLA WARRANTY!

    • +1

Lol we’ll fix the copy mate. The important thing is that we will honour the warranty and a few ozbargainers can attest to it. I just organised a warranty replacement for a rear screen this morning.

  • How good is this actually in day to day use? How is the integration with car’s software?

How responsive is it? eg is the speedo super fast or is it clunky changing when accelerating?

How does it connect to the car?

    • I use it everyday and it’s very reliable. The integration is comprehesive.

The speedo syncs at the same rate as the main screen.

Connects to the car via a CAN port under the driver side dash.
