Couldn't pay me to get on a cruise ship.

    • +19

I bet those passengers wish they’d flu instead

..then again I'm sure some of them wish they hadn't flu

  • +20

Possible 14 day extension, limited to your room. #Corona

    • +7

Theres always the 2 week island side trip. #christmas_island

      • +2

2 week island side trip. #christmas_island

        or Cambodia…

        • +1

          Free trip to Cambodia!

        • +1

Nice place to be at least. So many countries turned their back against them.

    • Ozbargainer question here: Do the people on the quarantined ships have to pay for their extended holiday?

      • +1

There's no way lol. Plus it'd be less of a holiday and more of a prison since they'll probably keep you in your rooms most of the time during quarantine.

        • +1

          Deal! :D

        • If you had an interior room, without windows or balcony. You are put into solitary! Torture.

          • @fredk1000: As if ozbargainers would opt for anything pricier

            • @ChillBro: So true. I have only been on a cruise once. It was an interior room. But I would hate to be confined to the room for so long!
The room only has TV, no Internet……….

              • @fredk1000: Yeah but can't you leave the room and go wherever you want 24/7?

                • @ChillBro: I am talking if you are in quarantine, lock down, confined to your room!
You have stay in your room…… For two weeks……

              • @fredk1000: bring a gaming laptop. Finish the witcher 1-3

                • @furythree: You don't travel alone on a cruise, usually 2 to people.
I did not have the foresight to bring a laptop, you are going on a cruise to enjoy yourself. But if you are stuck extra on quarantine…

      • +1

They are all getting refund including flights etc.

  • +2

    Great time to buy!

  • -1

All you can take Corona(s) back to home (just kidding)?

    • -1

      or herpes

      • +1

        Sharing is caring.

    • +1

I rekon there more chance of ppl catching an STD than contracting Coronas on this ship

      • +1

Given that some (not sure if this one) cruise companies have barred all Chinese, Hong Kong and Macau passport holders from its ships, regardless of residency, you are probably right.

        • -1

Lies. my friend he's middle eastern and he got barred from one of the cruise line too. About 4 years ago this happened.

  • +1

    Free Coronas for all passengers.

  • +3

Good on you OP for still trying to sell in the light of everything that has happened recently.

Wouldn't go even if it was free atm though.

  • -1

If there's kung flu aboard, how do people eat? Wouldn't everyone be isolated?

  • -1

I thought Corona was a beer?

  • No way, hosay!

  • +6

Will there be a refund if the islands deny the cruise ship? .. It seems most those ports-of-call are currently closed?
    https://www.cruisecritic.com.au/news/5048/
"The move by Tonga follows the unprecedented decision by tribal chiefs to close the New Caledonian ports of Lifou, Mare and Isle of Pines two weeks ago. "

If things don't improve it could be a Sydney to Sydney cruise with no stops….

    • So the ship does a 360 degree turn. Thats it?

      • But the port is closed?

      • Noumea seems to be open "for now"…

Also, keep in mind travel insurance is useless at times like these, they wont pay out for anything epidemic related…

        • +1

Noumea reminded me of an industrial city, unlike Mare and Isle of Pines.

          • @mathew42: honestly i wouldnt even bother getting off in Noumea if I went again. Isle of Pines or Mare are a different story though and definate highlights

      • +2

if you turn 360 degrees you still face the same way as before

        • You still have to get ship facing the same way for the next trip.

        • 😂

    • Iron Curtain v2.0 ?

    • They don’t guarantee the ports of call. Was on one at Xmas where due to a radar issue the ship stopped for repairs delaying by a day and not making the scheduled stop due to that. They stopped at a closer port as an alternative but a lot of people were annoyed at that change.

  • +4

for those traveling with cruises, consider seriously to upgrade to the balcony room in case stuck in the room for 14days, at least you get the fresh air.

    • +5

Why, so you can jump off it after few days in

      • +1

Or the crew dumps your body in the ocean because they don't want bad pr.

        • But of course. Nothing says good pr than a cruise ship dumping a body over board.

  • -4

I like how everyone's making fun of the whole people dying in China thing but nobody actually cares about the far more damaging environmental impact of these behemoths traversing our oceans.

    • -5

Honestly, no one gives a (profanity). Cruises are fun, ain't no amount of pollution stopping me from going on one.

      • Cruises are fun?!?! Wtf

    • -2

      damaging environmental impact

      What environmental impact ?

    • cool story bro

    • nobody actually cares about the far more damaging environmental impact of these behemoths traversing our oceans.

People are complaining about carbon footprint when travelling by air. And you're complaining about these ships. Australia, the last time I've checked, is surrounded by sea. What are you proposing as an alternative, flying fox?

      • +2

        Swim.

      • +4

I think that Putnum was referring to the lack of innovation from ship owners / manufacturers to make their vessels more efficient and less environmentally damaging.
Some are starting to innovate (much the same as aircraft manufacturers are also trying) but they have been slow to move.

Using ships for frivolous purposes such as cruises in the Pacific for 9 nights to visit 4 ports is certainly inefficient.

    • I think it's a joke post. Moderator please remove.
Who would seriously post this as a real deal.

  • +17

Came here for the comments, and not disappointed lol.

    • +3

That's the entire reason I clicked on this deal.
      It's incredible lol

  • does this ship have a casino and movie theatre?

  • +4

Pretty good deal 23 nights for $745 pp

    • its 9 nights

      • +9

        its 9 nights

It is 23. 9 nights plus 14 quarantine nights.

        • toochay

        • Maybe 24 nights quarantine

    • And Possible a Full refund and free next trip.

      • And if you're lucky, a one way trip to the after life.

  • Just not worth it. Unlikely it would go smoothly. Much to high of a risk that you will not get to see an island (due to port closure) or end up infected or dead. Good price but

    • +3

Unlikely to affect you much as you are full of medicines :)

  • +1

    Positive for being funny

    • Was the OP being funny, not sure where?

  • I think it may be safe as noone dare to go. Empty ship mean it maybe safer than go to work in sydney CBD. JK.

    • It also means that if someone there is sick, you will not be able to get away !!!

      • It also means that if someone there is sick, you will not be able to get away

I hope that sick person can swim. (I'm just sayin' …)

  • Australia's chief medical officer Brendan Murphy said "Ships are known as incredible places where infectious diseases can be transmitted," Say No More.

Diamond Princess stuck in Yokohama harbour - they are now talking about it being a coronavirus incubator because it is one in, all in and no escape.

  • I am here for the comments.

  • there will be plenty of cruise deals coming up. wouldn't be surprised if this price reduced further

  • Cruise Industry is going to be hit hard with financial losses as no one will risk cruises in the the current outbreak.

Expect there will be massive discounts coming up for those willing to risk cruise in the near future.

Just avoid China or it will be a free corona beer for everyone.

  • Corona's on the house !!!

  • Gastro will be the least of your worries.

  • Don't go there guys

    • Go where?

  • I thought a cruise ship would be the safest place during a zombie apocalypse.. Guess this has proven its safer to be in NZ

    • The safest place is watch a zombie apocalypse on TV in NZ.

  • you might get an unwelcomed extension to your cruise

    • You say tomato.. I say Solanum lycopersicum

  • Isn't Isle Of Pines and Lifou refusing to let ships dock there?
