I've always preferred Sony's UPnP support to Samsungs. Plus Sony has better support for SBS/ABC/7's netTV offerings.
Sony KDL40EX520 for 779.. does it make it a better deal??
I'd go for the Sony at that price.
tell us the link son. I might go for sony too
no link
saw it in costcoused to be $850.. thought i missed the bargain!!
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/49915but other shops (eg DickSmith) has dropped the price too.. lowest $999
so thought it might not b a bargain afterall.Same here, I go with Sony, has better picture quality.
Insane deal!
I'm pretty sure the 5000 series is 50Hz (Clear Motion Rate 100) only. It starts from 6000 series to get 100 Hz (Clear Motion Rate 200). Also, the WiFi function is available through a dongle which has to be purchased separately.
I picked up this model a week ago for $799 through myer. Not a bad unit for the money for sure. Looks great!
Thought I would mention a couple of things… Firstly, this TV is actually 50hz, the 100hz is Samsung's "clear motion" rating, a bit of advertising spin I believe. Also the wireless is not built in with this model, to get wireless you need to purchase the adaptor which would set you back an additional $70 or so.
The one real negative I have with it is when viewing in a dark room I have noticed that blacks in the top left and right corners are not so black… something to do with Edge LED maybe. Considering how thin the screen is I guess you can't have it all.
The picture quality of my 50" Panasonic plasma is far superior in my opinion.Awesome show, Great Job!
Link to myer deal.
